Millennium Actress is the lowest I've ever rated an anime film with a 4/10. Granted I've only seen about 40-50 anime films so far, but this film just felt so emotionally distant for me. I couldn't understand why Chiyoko would dedicate her entire life to chasing this man who she only met for like 5 minutes. They barely knew each other yet this film tries to convince people that she can't bear to live without the painters presence. It makes no sense. A 4/10 isn't a bad film in my eyes, but definitely a mediocre one

I think everyone is a hater and that this is a classic Satoshi Kon movie. The subject matter itself was boring but everything from the cinematography to the cuts to the "twists" are all classic Satoshi Kon. He truly is your favorite director's favorite director.
