I haven't even started this video but I clicked so fast and I'm so excited to watch!! We had to cancel our trip to Canada last fall due to weather so we pivoted to California. WOW I never knew the Sierra's could be this beautiful! We didn't have ta permit for big pines, but we did do a day hike and hit all 9 lakes back there! Long 20 mile day but soooo worth it. Love watching your videos, you give me such inspiration/motivation for outdoor adventure :)

Love your positivity! Fires happen regularly in the summer and it is smoky here today because of a fire in the Sawtooth Range near Redfish Lake. You are familiar with the gorgeous Sawtooths! The positive side of fires is that they clear out beetle kill and make way for rebirth of new seedlings and undergrowth. Another positive is that the community has gathered together to support the Redfish employees that can't work at the moment. Be loving and positive and good things will happen!

It was great visiting the area up there with you guys. We camped at lake 2 when we were there, I'm too old to pack any more so thanks for putting up the video. The alpenglow in the mornings and evenings in the Sierras makes hauling your house on your back worth every step. There are too many variables to name any one lake the most beautiful in the Sierras but it's fun rating your favorites.

I know this has nothing to do with this adventure, but I wanted to share our adventure last week. We were scheduled for a vacation in the Canadian Rockies. First, our flight on Delta was canceled because of the CloudStrike Computer hack. We found a new flight from the USA to Edmonton. We drove to Jasper to stay at the Mount Robson Inn and found out the wild fire burned our hotel and much of Jasper National Park to the ground. We decided to drive to Calgary and stay a day before leaving for Banff National Park. The park was filled with smoke and rain for most of the time we were there. We did get one good day to see Lake Louise and Canmore. Of course our flight back to the USA had to make an emergency landing in Minneapolis (we were schedule to go to Chicago). We missed our flight home and had to sleep in the airport before we could fly out of Chicago Tuesday Morning. I think I will live my Adventures through your videos for now on. 😬

This is not a comparison because I have not backpacked where you were but where I have backpacked my favorite place is the area just west of Lake Tahoe. The trail leaves from the west end of fallen leaf lake and ascends to the aloha lakes area but my favorite part of the trail is the area between lake aloha and Mt Tallack ( It is the mountain that often has the cross shaped snow drift in it’s eastern slope that you can see from the eastern side of Lake Tahoe looking west). There are two alpine lakes in the area..Lake Heather and Susie Lake that are small but beautiful. If you get a chance you might want to check them out some time. Spring or Fall might be best as they are crowded in summer but don’t go too early or too late because the snow melts late and arrives early some years. Loved this video. Love backpacking the Sierras.

The 20 lakes basin at saddlebag lake which is at the top of the Tioga pass at the eastern entrance to Yosemite is the absolute best of the eastern sierra. I've been up and down all of the 395 and can say that with confidence. Give it a shot if you don't believe me. :) 9 miles total.
