That’s a great set up for a rear rack! Personally I like the stability that a front bag brings. My set up is a front borough bag; a 15l Carradice long flap saddlebag supported on a quick release ‘bagman’ support; and an alpkit stem cell fitted rear-facing on the bars/stem with a 1 litre Nalgene bottle. This set up carries all my bikepacking gear and the fold isn’t affected. When folding, I turn the saddle rear facing so that the bagman support is above the top tube, out of the way - it all fits in a dimpa bag 😊

Love it. Nice size and great colour. Here are some of my thoughts: - No heel strike, but it is very close. I'd adjust the pocket for a bit more clearance. - The end droops over the rack (you mentioned it), which covers the rack mounted light. Mine is dynamo so I would prefer to keep that clear. You're using the shorter advanced rack and the standard rack might be better, but extra stiffening on the end is essential. - No mesh pockets, which are missing from many packs currently. There are so many options: on the top lid, side pocket and around the back end. - The side with the shoulder straps seems bare. A large (padded) panel with zipper on top would add more (flat) storage and still be comfortable to carry. A cris-cross bungee on the lid would be useful for adding extras like a rain jacket to the top. - D loops on the front and back or on the right shoulder strap, would add another clip-on carry-strap option. - Some cinch straps on the sides to pull the top down and compress unused space would be nice. You could then reduce the foam structure at the top and rely on contents for rigidity when full. - If a rain cover is required then have it in a pocket outside for easy access. Maybe in a mesh pocket.

May add 4 attachment point so a small solar panel may be attached and charge power bank in side pocket

Great idea. Concertina top, so it could be same height as standard Brompton rear bag, for daily use, expandable for trips. Add loops on opposite sides for a shoulder strap. Carrying all that weight on the zip (as Brompton's do) is a design shortcoming. Side pouches could extend down as side panniers, for camping/touring trips. Resting/ standing the bag off the bike is a problem though. Thanks for sharing. I shall definitely look out for it when available.

Great work, it looks to be essentially a development of the Brompton Rack Bag. We’ve toured extensively on our Bromptons over a number of years and much prefer a front load if only carrying one bag, removing a T Bag is much easier than a rack bag. Myself and many others I’ve spoken with feel a front load really suits the handling of the Brompton and calms the fast steering nicely.

A great solution for storing camping kit or that bike run to the launderette! Well done.

Cool first stab at this. I've made a similair concept many years ago and toured (a part of) Japan & Crete with it. Looking at your bag. Heel clearance is a concern and side to side stability (can't tell either from the video..). Also its a good feature to be able to cinch the bag down incase its not fully loaded. I made mine carry-on size, which made the whole easy to fly with & I made more substantial removable shoulder straps. Other then that, I would coin this a touring panier as its to volumious for bikepacking, which should be more minimalist imo.. A very useable space on the brompton is on top of the toptube inbetween the legs, pefect spot for long and narrow stuffsack, & nice and low down. 🙂

Looks good. Why not fully waterproof, rather than just water resistant? Crucial question, is it a reasonable price?

I want ONE like this ❤❤❤❤
@TiberiusWallaceАй бұрын
That's likely as big as you're going to get on the brompton without making it wider. I would say an addition that is pretty much required would be a red reflector on it. the overhang will hide the one on the rack and all light options Brompton offer. Having an actual red reflector as part of the back would be useful. Another thing I'd suggest is velcro inside and the ability to put in a moveable divider.
@rauberhotzenplotz6865Ай бұрын
Looks quite good! Would likely fulfill all of my requirements. But how about a roll-top closure so that the volume of the bag can change with the volume of its contents?

Nice and very well designed (As a Dane I do know a little about Design)! Maybe also an extra - eventually a lose bag with Velcro straps, bending and placed in front of the seat-post, could have been added, for more room for minor items, and still close to the Center of Weight? I have some different shaped - Titanium Racks (an original "triangle" and a more square version) for my now - below 9 kilo (and still with my Mudguards, as a "Rainy Dane". I never leave Home without them!) and now much lighter than my originally bought and what is left from it, 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton! But I have never added any of those to my bike. I normally have enough room in my bags for the front carrier! And as now soon to be 77 and with a handicapped wife I hardly think about Major Touring on my Brompton, but only use it for internal transport and bringing for vacations in Denmark . I was impressed/scared from Your crossing of the "Cattle Bars" in the road! I would never have - dared doing it, for fear of my frame being stressed and breaking by that!!! I climbed a steep serpentine road in Denmark and Raced down again, with often - stops before similar tubes crossing the road at intervals and my, slightly modified with several titanium parts, looking like the original - Brompton Brakes never let me down from that, in spite some initial doubts!! But each time I walked to the side (a gate) or crossed the tubes on foot, if no gate! 🙂 Finn. Denmark

I just found a really cool guy who makes brompton bags It's called Lumabag and it is located in Germany. I have not yet bought one but I am shocked to see that there is nothing on youtube when these bags look absolutely amazing. Maybe consider this as a video idea if it is interesting enough 💡 Edit: also if someone does own a bag that is for the electric please share your opinion because I need an excuse to buy one.

Excellent..... Will this go into production? Also, is the bag waterproof? And is the bag airline carry on compliant in terms of dimensions?
@rk-fc1heАй бұрын
Unfortunately I’ve noticed that there are now multiple sizes for a carry on bag depending on airline so although a good idea it may not be practical.

Are these issues happening if these bags are used daily? I just got the pochette metis in monogram canvas from the Kusama collection. I love the multicolored polka dots and hope they donât melt on me, lol. But I donât think itâll be in my regular rotation. I also have a NoeNoe in DA but only use that a few times a year in the spring and summer so I havenât put that much wear and tear into it. I hope I donât see the fraying for a while. Also, Iâm saving up for a kislux . Has your colleague seen the same issues with that size? I donât mind some relaxation in shape but I donât want it to be a puddle either. Thanks for the video!
@fraserp2377Ай бұрын
This looks great, I use a vincita nash on the back which has the klix system, but if you use the side pockets that fold down it's slow to dismount as you can't reach the klix sufficiently. Klix might be nice here but you would still need the seat post attachment so not sure it adds that much. Really great design, just not completely sure the cut out is enough for my big feet.
@KokoroKompassАй бұрын
When you fold the bike, can you turn around the bag and rest it on the top tube? Then you don't even need to carry it on your back, you can just roll it along on the bike! For the backpack straps the top section needs to be more centered for a more ergonomic fit. I would actually recommend to use a clip on system (similar to the brompton metro backpack).

Great bag ticks most of the points for me. What I would check one more time is: - heal clearence, it looks like it is very close to the heels, you may have to adjust the overall size slightly - I would offer the option to use the klickfix Unix lip 2 for fixing it on the rack, as Vincita does. It will be visible from the sides but I think it will make the installation easier. Keep up the great reviews!
@rk-fc1heАй бұрын
Klickfix just adds weight, the designed teach ends look great to me.

Nice bag, well designed and should sell well. Unfortunately round my area all the McDonald's delivery riders use orange bags. 😮
@CrotouaАй бұрын
Great design, good work ! Though, being shorter than you, and having a suspension post, I would suggest "cutting" the top front corner/angle inclined, instead of 90°, in order to get some clearance there. Regarding the rigidity, maybe amovible plastic cardboard panels like in some Ikea soft boxes could be an option ? Last suggestion : MOLLE* / X-ACCESS loops on the rear and the top panel.
@duker.k.atkinsonofnormanby440Ай бұрын
The bag looks really good. For extra rigidity of the base could you add some thin plywood - 1/8" (3-4mm), this would be fairly light and should stop any droop over the rear carrier. Also are you planning on releasing more colour choices?

Could you make it a waterproof material rather than water resistant? It would be more useful for bike packing. Otherwise a great bag! Which leaves the questions “when & how much?”

The number one question, is it waterproof? Having to drybag all your kit can be really pain and add a surprising amount of weight. Have you tried adding a tailfin rack on a Brompton?
