Is This The BEST Convection Oven? GE Electric Range Review that has an Air Fryer and MORE!

I bought a GE Profile Double Oven (7000) and it seems great. It's replacing my Thermador double convection oven that died after 20 years. However I am VERY Disappointed in GE's instructions and lack of material on how to best use some of the features like air fry, steam clean and dehydrate. I didn't know that there was a way to synchronize the clocks. Why don't they have instructional videos if they don't supply instructional materials.

My experience is with the GE Profile PGS930BP1TS. The stove top is great - very flexible - simmer and fast boil both work well. The oven is more problematic- the steam clean is a joke. And the high-temperature clean caused the oven controls to die completely. GE did replace the unit ( apparently parts aren’t available), but I am hesitant to try a self-clean again.

I agree that the steam self clean really isn't what we thought. It was fine for the first time which is included in the video but hasn't done much since. Sorry to hear about your control panel, we have not encountered that.

Please Please do not preheat your oven via Wi-Fi when you are away from home. I am currently in the market for a new range because I was preheating my oven a week ago. The oven beeped when it reached the desired temperature of 400 degrees, but I was busy with something else and didn't put the bread in right then. Ten minutes later, the range itself and my fire alarm were shrieking and smoke was boiling out. There was nothing actually on fire. The oven was just SO HOT! I actually had no idea an oven was capable of that heat. It was terrifying. The "it should never reach the temperature of the sun" safety feature stopped working. BTW, I appreciate your video as I am going to be replacing all four of my kitchen appliances, and I am trying to gather as much info as possible.

One other Con is there is not side lip to catch spills if something boils over and runs off the sides. It is definitely a plus to have child protect as well as no knobs as I tried at Home Depot to run up against the front knobs on the various ones on display that had knobs left one them (People Stealing them because the break off when bumped hard I assume), and noticed all the front knob units were very easy to turn on if you bump them or rub up against them so rather than say "Child Proof" I would say Human Proof is very important unless you want to burn down your house just cleaning the counters or walking in the kitchen. Think about it, getting an range with knobs in front might = living in a van down by the river?

We've had ours for a year- the oven's bottom element is under the metal floor (?)- this oven does a lousy job of cooking thin crust Papa Murphy’s pizza. We love crispy, thin crust pizzas, and the family size ones we usually get stay gummy in the middle, and we can’t get them off of the tray for “final cook/crisping”. Not sure about thicker crust pizzas. The closest we can get is if we poke holes through to the back of the tray... tedious and frustrating. Burnt tops, and hardly cooked bottoms... Our old electric range had the exposed bottom elements: not as neat, harder to clean, but baked those thin crusts to perfection! Sometimes the cooktop controls do their own thing: oven settings program, waiting for someone to start it, but it won’t turn on OR off... If your hands are damp/wet, forget any controls working. Water drips turn the stove top on... We would prefer gas, but are stuck with electric... Not thrilled with this range... Maybe they’re all this way.

Really well done and so awesome I didn't know about the steam clean. Got a little chuckle about spood fills lol so that kept things entertaining. I did not get this higher-end model with the wifi, I do have that on my GE washer and dryer but decided not to for this. I also like the look of knobs so I wanted actual knobs. There isn't a lip so you would need to get a silicone (or rubber) filler that's made for stovetops. The sides are finished but its a textured metal that's charcoal gray.

How to turn on the burner please?

Love the vid Just got my PHS930BPTS today, front right burner is supposed to be the "power boil" (front right) but I am having issues. If the pot is a bit too small it seems to not want to boil (stalled at 185*) if the pot is bigger it seems to work, but still takes 20+ min to reach boiling temps. More than a qt of water, but not much more. Not finding many great resources for help.

It looks like your model has an induction top. The first thing I'd check is to make sure the cookware you're using is induction compatible since it heats using magnets and not a standard electric element. If your pan is the wrong metal type, it won't work (or work very well). If that's not the issue, I'd probably contact GE or the place where you purchased it since it should still be under warranty.

Do you need to have your electrical panel upgraded from 220 to 240? When using the oven does the outside get too hot to touch safely? How difficult is the glass top to clean? The difficulty cleaning the glass tops has been a huge detraction from glass top stoves. Has that been improved?

Turns out my kitchen is 38db with nothing on as I stand in front of the stove. Once I turn the oven on, the meter goes to 42db. So you can hear it, but it's quiet and that's also standing right in front of it. It's a low hum so it's not too noticeable. Honestly my refrigerator is louder. Hope this helps!

I got GE induction range today and found that the big burner (11") is very slow Took 13 minutes to boil 4 cups of water, and it makes high noise when I turn the back burner at the same time The left 8" one took 6 minutes to boil 4 cups of water... I think they make a basket for it that you can purchase separately but we just use a standard low profile baking sheet with the air fryer option.

I just bought the free standing version of this oven, but it doesn't come with anything to tell me how to use the options. I got a "user manual" but it's the size of a newspaper insert and is very basic and vague. I have difficulty finding info on how to use the options and what best to cook with them.

In our case, it's worked well but we haven't had a really bad mess to clean up either. If it's really bad, a couple of cycles might be needed to get everything.

I bought this oven and was surprised it didn’t self-clean although the description at the store stated it did. I do not recommend this oven. The steam clean does nothing and is very hard to clean. The bottom surface of the oven has a well where you incorporate the water for steaming. Over a relatively small period of time, the surface warped something terrible and now no longer holds the water in place. It seems like an advanced oven but is very expensive and you’re back to using a lot of elbow grease to get the oven clean. The convection oven is not really doing a good job by the way. Recipes do not come out as they should. Not worth the money. They have not perfected this model yet.

I used the air dryer feature recently and made crispy Buffalo chicken wings. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper (for easy cleanup) then put a wire rack over the pan. I did 475 degrees...30 minutes. Turn wings over halfway through. Excellent results!

These are called "slide-in." not slide-on. If it did slide on the top of counter top, leveling could be tricky. You can buy edge caps that fit between the stove and counter top that lay over the counter, but these are cosmetic as only a sealed cap would stop leaks and that would make servicing a nightmare.

As long as your oven has the ability to connect to your Wi-Fi network I would think all of the app features that you can use will work. They just updated the app to allow turning on the air fry feature, where before you could only turn it on at the stove. I've also found out there are quite a few variations of this stove. I know some don't have the air fry option and someone else commented who had an induction cooktop instead of electric burners.

I currently have the Samsung convection and so I am familiar with the glass top service. I have old Cuisinart skillets that need to be replaced. I am worried about the durability and it scratching. Can you suggest the types of pots and pans I should look for. Also, the size tray that can be used for dual feature? Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

We've had ours for a year now and haven't had any issues with scratching. Our pans have stainless steel bottoms. We do have a cast iron pan but I've not used it on the glass top because I'm worried that one will actually scratch the glass. I haven't tried a dual griddle yet, all the pans I've found have had some reviews stating that they can warp from heat so I'm still looking.

The cooktop is the same height, the front panel and rear exhaust is about an inch higher

The touch controls are too sensitive. Opening the hot oven when burners are also in use frequently results in the burners being turned all the way up or all the way down by the heat hitting the outside burner controls. Also if anything splashes or drips on the burner controls, they adjust. Including bubbling from the pot on the burner.

I hear a low-pitched hum when using the cooktop. Using the oven, I hear that hum plus the convection fan inside the oven which is a little louder. If it's more than that it doesn't sound normal to me. Hope this helps.

Do ANY of these glass top ranges stay unscratched after just a few months of using them daily? (no matter how careful you are) Not a single person I know is happy with theirs after an incredibly short amount of time, though they were thrilled when it was first purchased. Unless you are outlandishly careful each and every time you place a pan on it, that thing is gonna get scratched, and fast. Like, you'd have to be using the touch of a next-level Mohel performing a circumcision on a baby from royalty, while saying a prayer, to keep that glass top from looking pretty worn in no time.

Those are not long lived ranges when the touch panel is up front because it gets exposed to extreme heat every time the oven door is opened and they burn up boards a lot quicker.

It's 37.25 in. according to their website... That would vary some with the adjustable feet I'd imagine. I was able to get the cooktop flush with my countertop. Hope this helps!

Weirdly for me, the stove doesn’t seem to turn on, I click on, set range of heat, but then the light starts to blink and turns off after a few seconds

That is odd. For the oven I press Bake, set the temp and then push start. For the burners I push on, and touch the temperature circle (or +) and they start heating. If I wait about 30 seconds without pressing Start (baking) or the wheel for the burners, it times out after 30 seconds. It sounds like you might need your unit serviced if yours is acting differently.

It will work manually, the wifi gives you an option to turn it on and off from your phone and lets you know when the oven is preheated or the timer goes off. But all of that is available on the control panel as well.

The usual culprit is that the panel input is locked. Just touch the lock button for 3+ seconds and the buttons should start working again.

Burner left on low and was covered with a drying mat, it melted and stuck to the glass, when cleaned it left dents on the glass as if someone hit it with the hammer. Why would anything melted on the surface of the glass the chips on the glass? Can the glasstop be replaced?

When you cook you might have wet hands, dirty hands, hands in oven mitts, hands holding ingredients... all of which will be a problem on capacitive touch interfaces. It's annoying that if you want a GE with some good old fashioned knobs you have to spend up $1000 more to get the equivalent Cafe range, which even has _downgraded_ burners without selectable sizes. No wonder people flock to Samsung and LG, their lower cost designs at least make sense. I imagine this is happening because it reduces manufacturing costs to make recessed counter cooktops and rangetops as similar as possible, and cooktops have ditched knobs to be sleek and low profile.

Not having knobs is a great feature when you're concerned little ones might "accidentally" turn on the stovetop. So far we've had zero issues with it being capacitive touch... use or otherwise.

The regular GE models (not profile, not cafe) have knobs for all the burners. The oven is controlled by touching a control panel and number pad. They are the same quality but lack wifi (smart) controls. 😊

Ah, sorry about that. It's just one of the features of the oven and happens to be the one GE promotes the heaviest. The oven does a great job all around. The air fryer mode doesn't require you to pre-heat the oven, just stick the food in and you're set. If you have a specific question I could answer it for you here.

Air Fryer is just a buzz word so not-so-bright people pay more for things. There is no functional difference between the two. Several channels have done comparisons.
