B button is for regeneration braking… where you charge the batteries each time you ease off the accelerator pedal. I have Citroen e dispatch and I turn to either gain more miles or loose almost nothing when you drive in Eco mode and B button turned on. … which took me over 2 months to figure out 😢 and wasted £ 💷 due to driving regularly in normal and sport mode with B turned off. Please stay away from Sport mode as this drains the battery too quickly, it turns the van into a beast, super fast 💨 💨💨

Not pressing the start/stop button before getting out is exactly the same as not turning the key to turn your normal car off. The engine/ignition is still on, so I think that’s perfectly normal rather than a quirk!

Have a Vivaro E company van. About 120-130 miles in ECO 1/2 loaded is what I’m finding on average. Its awful on motorways but good around town. Charging is a faff if you only have access to Quick Chargers. I love the smooth fast drive of the ev but would have the diesel engine instead if possible.

Those Gridserve Electric Highway units (at the services) are capable of charging both connectors at 150kW at the same time, but they are currently limited to one connector at 60kW because they replaced 1x 50kW ex-Ecotricity units without upgrading the supply. GS say they have a project going around upgrading the supply at each location so that the full capabilities can be unlocked, but obviously that's a slow process subject to DNOs, planning permissions, site owners, etc.

on the gear shifter, B is for an agressive regenerative braking, so if you let off the accelerator it will engine brake a lot, so you can literally drive without having to use the brakes, unless you gotta stop fully. We got a Peugeot Partner and it's kinda the same truck since they're all owned by PSA/Stellantis

I have the Peugeot E-Expert (same van different badge). Real world range varies a lot. Current average efficiency is 2.5 miles per kWh. (Normal mode - rarely use ECO) Range from 150 to 190 miles but very weather dependent. (75kW battery) Wind is your worst enemy. It’s as aerodynamic as a brick. In strong headwinds you need to draft behind a truck. Strong Headwinds can lower the range to as little as 130 miles. Use it at legal van speeds and you get good range. Motorway about 63mph gives best range. Spec it with the 11kw onboard charger option as I only have the 7kW onboard charger and wish I had upgraded. The electric doors and keyless ignition are options. Rear camera option also a great investment. Has 180 degree view when reversing which helps when backing out from a charger. HUD is great. This week been to Edinburgh, Hull and Norwich. (1200 miles) Last month 3000 miles. It goes a long way and charges really well at 97kwh. Absolutely love it. Comfortable too.

How your fuel savings ?
@colin7898
@colin7898 2 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianMcDaid tough question to be exact but it’s about 50%. Cost charging at home is about £15 if I actually went 0-100%. Rapid Charging (Instavolt say at 50p per kWh from 10-80% (53kwh) £26.50 which is probably worst case unless I was absolutely desperate and went for Ionity!!) Diesel would cost me about £70 for about 400 miles when it was about £1.40 per litre. So home charging equivalent is £30 and rapid only is about £53. Ratio the fuel cost up to today and it would be about £85 per tank.

Think the issue with vans is routing the cable , its got to be clear and fully insulated from the bodyshell easy enough in cars not so easy in vans with the potential for tools and materials flying around , large opening doors this is going to need a re jig internally . I literally test drove one and spoke to vauxhall about it I'm a electrician and the main dealer said stay clear it wouldn't be suitable for me as the miles aren't great so I got a t6 instead

For me it's still the Hybrid route. A Van with 100mile range on Electric plus a ICE engine for longer ranges while charging the main battery. That's the best of both worlds in my opinion. EVs only I always get the "Range Anxiousness" of not being able to get to a place to charge the vehicle and being stranded somewhere. With an Hybrid I'm always sure that when the batteries die I still have a ton on range on the good ICE technology. Plus when the batteries with time lose capacity you basically don't have a car that loses half of his potential. Maybe when battery chemistry evolves to something way better than Li-Ion and we get ranges almost equal or suppassing the old ICE engines then then the market will blow up and you will have EVs everywhere.

Great to hear your opinion, maybe hybrid is the option...
@black.phoenix.

@@artisanelectrics It could be. Here in Mainland China, as a foreigner working in Industrial Electronics and Electricity I use an Hybrid and I can't be more happy for it. And I'm talking a country that invested heavily in EVs in the last 5 years, to the point that in Shenzhen all Taxis and Urban Buses are EVs, from their brands as BYD, Foton and Skywell.

Speed difference interesting. I did not realise the VW had implemented a speed limit. Also your BW is fully loaded ~ what 3/4 Tonnes in metric?

11:20 My Peugeot e-208 has 217 mile range and I often charge from 50% to 90% using a 350kw charger in approx 30-45 mins. 12 mins charging has never been achieved by any car on an ultra rapid charger. I've driven from London to Canterbury and back on 1 charge during winter, eco mode all the way. The acceleration at the traffic light is beyond anything imaginable from a little Peugeot, 0-40mph in under 5 secs. Although, I'm swapping it in August 2022 for a Vauxhall E Vivaro van and using it as a design office on wheels (offering sameday custom e-commerce web design for high street shops) with a foldable desk and chair. Other days I'll be using the van for my mobile car detailing service and a smoothie bar on other days. I definitely think it's a van for all kinds of uses. Oh and 'B' stands for regen braking ;)

Jordan, You need to drive an ordinary EV rather then your Tesla and you'll see it is exactly the same at the Vivaro van. B gives you more regenerative braking when you let off the throttle, many EV's have B mode (not all) All other EV's require you too press a button to put it into Park as far as I know. Although turning the ignition off also puts it into Park. and like a combustion car you have to turn them off, either by pressing a button or turning the key, like your Transit and Caddy vans. Tesla's being very unique have given you a different prospective of all the other EV's available.

Opening the driver's door also puts it into Park - at least with the Citroën ë-Dispatch which is essentially the same van. (The ë-Dispatch is, of course, the better van though. All the cool kids drive them.)

My used ‘15 LEAF with a crappy 24 KwH battery got me over my range anxiety. If I can get 300 miles of range from an EV, I would never need an ICE again.

"B" is for "Brake". It gives stronger regenarative braking. Almost "one pedal driving", though you still need to use the brakes to finally stop. Once you start using it, you'll never go back to 'normal' driving! It's more economical too.
@richardwalsh5882
@richardwalsh5882 Жыл бұрын
It's not as economical as coasting though, so really should only be used if you actually want to decelerate.

Not to mention running heating or AC.. also don’t keep playing with those auto doors either 😂 Think what happens to your all mighty lithium drill when you load it up a bit.. say a big holesaw or something… Same applies here..
