B button is for regeneration braking… where you charge the batteries each time you ease off the accelerator pedal. I have Citroen e dispatch and I turn to either gain more miles or loose almost nothing when you drive in Eco mode and B button turned on. … which took me over 2 months to figure out 😢 and wasted £ 💷 due to driving regularly in normal and sport mode with B turned off. Please stay away from Sport mode as this drains the battery too quickly, it turns the van into a beast, super fast 💨 💨💨

Those Gridserve Electric Highway units (at the services) are capable of charging both connectors at 150kW at the same time, but they are currently limited to one connector at 60kW because they replaced 1x 50kW ex-Ecotricity units without upgrading the supply. GS say they have a project going around upgrading the supply at each location so that the full capabilities can be unlocked, but obviously that's a slow process subject to DNOs, planning permissions, site owners, etc.

I have the Peugeot E-Expert (same van different badge). Real world range varies a lot. Current average efficiency is 2.5 miles per kWh. (Normal mode - rarely use ECO) Range from 150 to 190 miles but very weather dependent. (75kW battery) Wind is your worst enemy. It’s as aerodynamic as a brick. In strong headwinds you need to draft behind a truck. Strong Headwinds can lower the range to as little as 130 miles. Use it at legal van speeds and you get good range. Motorway about 63mph gives best range. Spec it with the 11kw onboard charger option as I only have the 7kW onboard charger and wish I had upgraded. The electric doors and keyless ignition are options. Rear camera option also a great investment. Has 180 degree view when reversing which helps when backing out from a charger. HUD is great. This week been to Edinburgh, Hull and Norwich. (1200 miles) Last month 3000 miles. It goes a long way and charges really well at 97kwh. Absolutely love it. Comfortable too.
@AdrianMcDaid2 жыл бұрын
How your fuel savings ?
@colin78982 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianMcDaid tough question to be exact but it’s about 50%. Cost charging at home is about £15 if I actually went 0-100%. Rapid Charging (Instavolt say at 50p per kWh from 10-80% (53kwh) £26.50 which is probably worst case unless I was absolutely desperate and went for Ionity!!) Diesel would cost me about £70 for about 400 miles when it was about £1.40 per litre. So home charging equivalent is £30 and rapid only is about £53. Ratio the fuel cost up to today and it would be about £85 per tank.

For me it's still the Hybrid route. A Van with 100mile range on Electric plus a ICE engine for longer ranges while charging the main battery. That's the best of both worlds in my opinion. EVs only I always get the "Range Anxiousness" of not being able to get to a place to charge the vehicle and being stranded somewhere. With an Hybrid I'm always sure that when the batteries die I still have a ton on range on the good ICE technology. Plus when the batteries with time lose capacity you basically don't have a car that loses half of his potential. Maybe when battery chemistry evolves to something way better than Li-Ion and we get ranges almost equal or suppassing the old ICE engines then then the market will blow up and you will have EVs everywhere.

B gives you more regenerative braking when you let off the throttle, many EV's have B mode (not all) All other EV's require you too press a button to put it into Park as far as I know. Although turning the ignition off also puts it into Park. and like a combustion car you have to turn them off, either by pressing a button or turning the key, like your Transit and Caddy vans. My used ‘15 LEAF with a crappy 24 KwH battery got me over my range anxiety. If I can get 300 miles of range from an EV, I would never need an ICE again.

"B" is for "Brake". It gives stronger regenarative braking. Almost "one pedal driving", though you still need to use the brakes to finally stop. Once you start using it, you'll never go back to 'normal' driving! It's more economical too.
@richardwalsh5882 Жыл бұрын
It's not as economical as coasting though, so really should only be used if you actually want to decelerate.

Mate… those things are a gimmick.. With a set of roof racks/ ladder system And a constant load of 400 or so kilos, That thing is gonna average about 100km around town.. Not to mention running heating or AC.. also don’t keep playing with those auto doors either 😂 Think what happens to your all mighty lithium drill when you load it up a bit.. say a big holesaw or something… Same applies here..

It looks very nice, better than the VW. Unfortunately Holden/Vauxhall have left Australia, so I guess that we won’t be seeing it here!

Personally, I would go Toyota Proace electric, as in my experience, the dealer service is better than Vauxhall. However, similar vans.
