Some things I noticed: - The person at Redwake is actually a lady - Professions haven't actually released yet - Full release is probably within the next few months - There will be more sidebosses, mostly in the Greenwish side arc probably - I like the idea of a recipe book, but I don't love the armory idea. Trial and error is a huge part of making a build in this game, and having a book to tell you everything would take the fun out of that. I usually don't even look at the wiki when making a build, and mine turn out fine - There are plenty of things to do once the story is finished. I am a completionist player so I spend a lot of time on explorer/diver titles, but I also like helping out newer players with story and bosses if they need it - I agree the story seems half-baked right now, but we're definitely starting to see more interesting writing and ideas pop up. I suggest looking at the forum lore tag, once you wade through the annoying/irrelevant parts there's actually some really interesting ideas - Last I heard, there ARE going to be group bosses eventually - Dungeons might get added, they seem well-liked in Arcane Reborn - Try talking to any NPC you can, about half of them talk and some of them say really interesting things!

Yeah, it's longer, since Deepwoken is only one game, but arcane adventures has had like a decade (since online fighting) to build up the lore. The lore is really interesting and fun to read but Arcane Odyssey's lore is very simplistically written and is obvious that they just wanted to put the lore somewhere. Deepwoken actually uses a better vocabulary to make it seem more genuine and interesting, so I don't believe just the length alone of the lore will make it better.

Unfortunately, the developer cannot really fix the players spawning in dead servers. That is Roblox themselves putting the players in the servers in an attempt to revive the server. The Game Dev cant do much about it.

I honestly don't think this is an issue If it's even literally the second time you're playing on a save, you can just pick any server from the server list If it's your first time playing on a slot, dead servers don't mean much since you'll probably make a break from the game somewhere along the story so you can just pick a server after that If you intend on playing the entire story in one sitting, then you should touch some grass and get some maidens anyways Besides, there are people, like me, who like being on small servers

The problem for the solo dev argument is that it's use for a bad reason Vetex is perfectionist and loves to put details the problem of the solo dev comes here, you CAN'T be that much perfectionist if you're a solo dev, and that's a problem i would be happy with a games that contains less details, but more content

I feel like the biggest betrayal to me is he said he wanted to fix traversal in world of magic because it takes a long time to get from city to city but just because boats are faster than walking the map is so much bigger and it doesn't fix ground traversal Ravena is pretty big how hard would've it been to just add horses and to world of magic it easily fixes traversal also fast travel would be nice and crates are a reason to not always use it because I'm not climbing that mountain every time I want to go to that city and I get it breaks immersion or whatever also setting a different spawn point is for no reason just annoying you need a specific item for and the assassin island technique if you want to change it you have to go there is you reset your points you have to go there to re-activate it.

I won't say your wrong, your right but one thing and only one thing I want to say is, vetex isn't exactly someone who codes like most Dev's you speak of who finish their games in a year, those are the same games that don't survive or they die and come back to life over years of development. Vetex could have released the game like a year in advance, the only reason was the revamp of more stuff (not world of magic revamp, there was a revamp of the revamp like spells UI and other stuff that suddenly popped up including content that needs to be on release) a lot of features were being tested with public as you might have noticed certain features are removed (Also the wiki owners are dumb, their information is outdated and they should have just let someone from the inside work on the wiki) Back to some interesting things that are 100% confirmed up to a point I can say. Gliders will be a thing, land of giants in the next sea. A war happening in the next next sea. And I saw someone already posted most of the pointers about the future of this game. Oh yea one last thing, thank for talking about AO, this will give them a good idea on what direction to go and I say a Win video. In the end Arcane Odyssey as it updates will grow to a point of high player traffic on roblox. He just needs time...

One of the major mistakes Vetex and his testers and balancers are making, is that they are to focused on PvP to properly do ANY kind of balancing, and are falling for the exact same trap with balancing in fighting against metas. The mistake a lot of developers make is that if something is found to be overpowred in PvP and/or PvE, they nerf it to the ground thinking they fixed things, when in reality they only ruined a part of the game and only delayed the min/maxing meta players, who will continue to find new metas and ruin the game more and more. A very clear example is the story of the Rivers Of Blood katana from Elden Ring, people complained about it so much that Fromsoftware nerfed it so much that it is hardly usable anymore, especially in PvP. The proper way to balance a game is actually brought up by a programmer who once worked for Activision Blizzard, who goes by the name Pirate Software. He explains that the proper way to balance a game is not to nerf things that are over powered, it is instead to increase everything else. In other words, it is best to make it so that even if there is a meta, the meta cannot overpower everything else, no matter what. One of the reasons why I despise metas, is because it takes away one of the core elements of ganmes like Arcane Odyssey, and that is the players's ability to choose their own path, if you choose to follow the people who find some crazy build that dwarfs everything else, yes you will get better results, but your gameplay will have no soul or creativity, and the game will get very boring very quickly. Another problem is that the community itself is WAY to obsessed over PvP, thinking that PvP is everything and it is the games soul purpose. That is an abosulte lie through and through, PvP only makes up a tiny percentage of the games functionality, and Vetex and the testers and balancers are forgetting this fact as well. Another issue is the content creators who showcase things from the game, they don't understand that if they showcase things like that, it is likely that the developer will see things the wrong way and change something that doesn't need to be changed. Let's compare two situations, such as the gunpowder barrel nerf, and the firearms and bow&arrow nerf. many months back, a KZbinr showcased how overpowered gunpowder barrels were against bosses, since they can take away massive chunks of HP, so Vetex nerfed them and made them only do a quarter of the damage they used to do to NPCS. This was a fair change since being able to do something like that is pretty insane. On the other side of the coin, A KZbinr showcased how crazy it is to use firearms with what was the maximum attack speed you can get, and so Vetex nerfed both firearms and bows and arrows to only deal half damage to ALL NPC's, unlike the gunpowder barrels, this is stupid because this lowers their usefulness by a large amount. What Vetex should have done is only make firearms and bow and arrow weapons have this nerf on BOSSES, not every NPC in the game. So all in all, my message to KZbinrs of Arcane Odyssey is; be careful what you show and how you showcase it and talk about it, when you have a solo developer with a TERRIBLE testing and balancing team, things can go horribly very quickly.

I have always been a large believer in the "Never settle for mediocre" mindset (when it comes to videogames, at least). I don't believe there should ever really be a point where the excuse of someone being a solo dev is viable when they've promised something. I think a great example of this situation is in a lot of the anime games, one being Anime Dimensions Simulator, ads has 1 or 2 main devs and takes so long to update the game with quite literally miniscule updates that almost never have any good changes or content additions at all (also Arcane Odyssey is a good example of why the solo dev excuse doesn't work in this scenario because of how much more is being added to AO than ads). The main cause of these problems is imo 100% the players of the games for some reason feeling the need to relentlessly make excuses and defend their favorite games, almost always in Roblox devs' case being the solo dev excuse. I always wonder how people can think waiting more than 1 year for the bare minimum is something that is totally acceptable. This is almost 100% written terribly as I wrote this comment in like a minute and am dead tired lol

Although I am listening to what you have said, I have to disagree on several points. Being a solo KZbinr is NOT the same as being a solo developer. You clearly have no idea what it is like to code a game (even a Roblox game) and how much more difficult it is than making a simple video. And you are talking about a "bEtTeR eNGinE" when there is only one engine for Roblox; this engine has shown itself to be terrible; you would know that if you were actually educated in the matter. The engine has many bugs, as Vetex has said before on Twitter. Although I do like your ideas about recipe books, more bosses, endgame content, and dungeons. Vetex is a solo developer and he already has plans for this year, he wants to add clans making their own islands, spirit weapons, ship battles, roaming bosses, and player professions. More bosses will definitely be added, so you can wipe that off the list. I'm not sure how tower gamemode would work. There are some story parts that need it and there is the notoriety navy forces, but a tower gamemode... I don't think it would fit. I am also uncertain about dungeons. In AA/AR they make sense because undead are said to be unkillable, so it makes sense that each time there are the same undead. But for AO, I think it is better to have strongholds like fort Talos or Silverhold. However, I agree entirely with the giant bosses. Though instead of a dungeon raid, I think the boss should be like Kraken from AR, spawning out in the sea for anyone to fight.

Not many people understand the dumb stuff that Vetex had to go through to make AO. He worked on AA (Arcane Adventures) a while back and it was like not even halfway done, but at the time it was THE best RPG game on Roblox. It had 3 seas and the max level had reached 250+. But Roblox completely broke the entire game and he had to start from scratch. He went into a depression for SURE and didn't work on RPG games like AA or AO, like how he worked on other games for the time being. It was only after the pandemic that he actually started to work on World of Magic which is the game that he wanted to started fresh on. It didn't work well and he added literal AI NPCS like ones that literally act like citizens in games and such. That was too much for Roblox's engine and it wasn't at all similar to AA, so he then revamped it AGAIN to make AO. He basically had to start 3 times to make the same type of game. AO BY FAR is the best rendition of any of his games from the past, and as long as ROBLOX DOESN'T mess it up, it will be a complete game and the best RPG game on Roblox by far. Also about the comment about the Early Access, he never wanted to release the game in early access, the COMMUNITY is to blame for this. They pressured him to release and rush the game. We would've been waiting another 2 years before it would actually release.

To me, Arcane Odyssey is a great game in the making, but its too limited by the Roblox game engine to reach its full potential. Arcane Adventures was my childhood and I'm glad Vetex is devving AO. I do wish he'd get more people on his dev team, it'd make... development, way faster -- His games are awesome, but when it takes 2-3 months per update, or longer, and then the 'overall' content is a few hours at best, it just really tanks the game's performance and rating. The game's content, outside of the 'first look' / end of the story gets pretty dry. End game, you can fish, dig for treasure, go to diving spots, grind the dark sea and bosses for loot, or play the whole thing over again -- oh, and pvp... All of it, while fun at first, seems like a massive waste of time, a chore even. I know that Vetex is hard at work on his game, surely. But for those who are not... effectively religiously playing his game, the current available content just isn't it past the story.

I'd like your opinion on this entire paragraph of my thought on the game. Good games are made by the community surrounding it, and I like to think that's what you emphasize in the video to put it simply, dunno if I'm right or not but another way to say it, I think what you had in mind is a well-thought-out look into the potentials of the game both good and bad. Whether or not your opinions are in the right or wrong is hard to say on my end since my opinions are mixed. I personally find that the pvp fanatics in AO tend to ruin the fun cus a wall of skill made from one single stat of almost any kind can instantly ruin your gameplay to an extent where it's no longer fun to bother playing it anymore. And I admit that I fit well into that considering the whole shenanigan I started about aoe earth conjurers abusing attack size to kill entire parties of gankers probably was the reason that Vetex attempted to nerf attack size as a stat in the first place. Things like that tend to impact the overall enjoyability of the game from my understanding cus some of those people have so much skill that they go around killing everyone they see one by one just cus they're bored (which is the one thing I don't do). Then there's just the whole issue of island activities on the main component being a bit repetitive. To the average new user, things like treasure hunts and such would be pretty fun, but since some of your better gear can also be found there instead of in sunken gear or the dark sea, you start to go into it more only to find 0 luck in your constant treasure hunts for days or even weeks, in my case it took me over a month. Just my line of thought.

I agree with your pvp take and treasure hunt/dark sea take. I don't like RNG mechanics to the point where the meta armor is locked behind it. But my video wasn't about the community around the game and how it's what makes the game good, I more wanted to explain the current content, as well as explain why it's not enough content and how he needs to add more for the game to succeed. And yea, the fact that the meta is heavily leaning on attack speed right now is not good. It's also a hard thing for vet to fix since he'd had to change a lot.

ok, i have a couple things, i just beat the purple spider just btw THE BADS :( 1. I noticed a few minor glitches, like in the tutorial, after doing the skill stuff, it was still guiding my mouse to click skills even though i did everything, and also, after getting my weapon, the blacksmith kept its little marker thing even though my quest was to kill the purple spider. 2. The gameplay kind of feels like an open world bandit beater, (Like World Zero kind of) the enemies I have faced up to this point all died by spamming F and M1. 3. WHY HAVE BLOCK AND PARRY ON 2 DIFFERENT KEYS???? 4. The AI, the enemies just stand there until i come up to them, when they either attack or run away. THE GOODS :) 1. I really like the combat system, I feel a block is a bit unnecessary if you have a parry, and this feels like a parry based system, and not a block based one. 2. I really like the skill and talent system too, it feels very fleshed out, and it works pretty well, syphon is fun, and I really want to get dual wielding. 3. The inventory management is exactly how I feel these types of games should be. With there being a scroll wheel type thing for consumables and the T inventory just looking clean. 4. THE CAPE I GOT WAS SO COOL WHAT Overall, its a pretty good game, with a nice art style to it. It has a few things that could definitely be improved upon, but pretty solid and something I will probably play again. the thing about comparing making a youtube video and developing a game is just stupid. video creation is nothing compared to the slope that is game dev. unlike video creation, game dev is constantly learning new concepts and techniques instead of just refining a skill. in some sense it's like the difference between engineering and art. also, the comparison to other indie devs is dumb. most of the time these "amazing" indie games created in one year are very simple technically or disregard good practice for the sake of output.

One slight mistake you made about the sunken warrior set. It is not the fastest attack speed set in the game, but the dark bronze armor is. For example, dark bronze helmet gives 39 aspd, while sunken warrior helmet gives 29. But yes the sunken warrior is indeed the meta. Just here to correct some mistakes, no big deal :> Also, i did noticed how you said about getting better gears for yourself, i suggest checking out the gear building site, you can make your own build there with the provided gears ranging from budget craps to meta things.
