I personally love the bokeh of this lens. So many pictures I see today are totally melted backgrounds for me. I like a background that looks like a water color painting. 😊

In my country there is none used 24-120 lol. Question. Feature wise, Choose one: 24-70/2.8 used or brand new 24-120/4. Price difference only 300-500 bucks?
@ZacharyLaiPhotography7 ай бұрын
For me it’s still a question of whether you need F2.8 vs 50mm extra focal length.
@cryptobyt24037 ай бұрын
@@ZacharyLaiPhotography after searching the price. Its all comes down to the price. If there is an 24-120/4 second hand itll be 700 vs 1500. Simple 24-120 for me. But now its bnib 24-120 (1150 bucks) vs secondhand 24-70 with (1450 bucks) lol

Hi Zachary, I am going with Nikkor Z DX18-140 mm f/3.5-6.3 VR and DX 12-28mm for overseas trips this Jan 2025 soon. It's for landscapes and night street photography. 😅

Can the Nikon z30 work with this lenses?
@ZacharyLaiPhotography8 ай бұрын
Yes it can work, but since the Z30 is a cropped sensor, the focal length will be effectively around 36-160mm

As an owner of this lens, I just found out that Nikon disabled the fully mechanical shutter whenever this lens is attached to your camera. Apparently this was done as a poor man's version of vibration reduction / image stabilization because the lens is very susceptible to shutter vibration especially at longer focal lengths. This might be okay, but what just doesn't sit right with me is how Nikon never openly mentions this. Customers are forced to find out after buying the lens.

That’s interesting. There’s no apparent detriment though. More like a safeguard in case the user chooses mechanical shutter at slow speeds and suffers vibrations as a result. How would a company board cast this? Seems fit for a fine print somewhere.

It's one of the best lenses I've ever used, but I get more shots that I love from my humble 50mm f/1.8 AFS that cost £100 used!

Primes have their advantages 😊

It s good one, but the best for travel is probably the 24-200 : a little lighter, a little less sharp but who publishes more than A3 prints, 30% cheaper, less opened but who cares with modern sensor and 1,6 time a larger range… is there any match ?
@ZacharyLaiPhotography Жыл бұрын
I have a video review on that too. It was my top choice before the 24-120 came out. I still prefer the 24-120 for much better sharpness and quality, wider aperture, albeit lesser focal range.
@MB-dq2gz Жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on of you need the extra 80mm over lower ISO in darker environments, better barrel distortion and overall image quality not to mention the variable apertures which it always annoying when shooting in manual.
@philmtx3fr Жыл бұрын
@@ZacharyLaiPhotography sure that the 24-120 is shaper but honestly when you print A4 and with little postprod it s difficult to see the difference :). The only limitation is in dark environment … but in this case nothing is better than a prime too :).
@philmtx3fr Жыл бұрын
@@MB-dq2gz Sure , but when you travel you usually want something light, wide range because you don t know what you wil find. For the aperture f4 is ofvcourse better and more versatile but with modern sensors and denoiser you can use higher iso to compensate so the « poor » aperture is not a big deal in day light. I agree it s not the same in dark environment but personally I let my camera sleep during night.

I sold my 24-200, not good enough at the long end for me. This lens, stops at 120mm obviously but is far better.
