Red River is one of the coolest little towns in NM! Good doughnut shop (T-Buc's) as that side-by-side found out the hard way!

Use to go up there 20 yrs ago it was just a small road in. Now, it looks like a parking lot at Walmart 😢

I took a 1979 Toyota Corolla wagon up there a long time ago with the family and we actually spotted a pack of gray wolves to the east. It was a nice ecperience.

I was not aware of that drive. Tried Goose Lake last time I was there but the water crossing was too deep for my full sized Bronco. Gotta try that one. Weekday only though, and very early in the morning to avoid all the folks.

Yup, Goose can be deep. And just as sketchy because of the side by sides from what I understand. Greenie is nice. With a Bronco, you'd have no issues, and it's just a fun trail to do that gets to a great view.

This is not the highest peak you can drive to. Greenie is 11250. Go south to Taos / Mora county line. And make your way to the peak of Cerro Vista. 11936ft

Cerro Olla is even higher at 11,952 and is just south of Cerro Vista in Carson National Forest.
