Today I check out the Evolve Motorsport 6DOF simulator for racing professionals. It's big, it's expensive and it's a lot of fun!

This is for people who actually race cars. It's a simulator for them to hone their skills and that's what it was designed to do. They collaborated with racing drivers to develop it. Your setup sounds like a Mustang lol

i get disorientated enough with the cockpit view on dirt rally 2.0 for PS4 using a controller, i think i may actually throw up using a motion simulator. this does however look better than the motion chairs that turn unrealistically to the car angle in game lol, saw one where car had drifted left but the seat turned right (my guess is it was based on the wheels counter steer not the game mechanics)

That direct drive wheel and pedals alone will probably costs more than my entire room but I would love to have a proper setup. My old DFGT wheel feels like a cheap toy.

I dont think it would be, your head would be moving around in the cockpit way too much and it wouldn't be very nice. You'd have to recenter the thing every 5 seconds.

@@GavinRopchan I have the Next Level motion platform v3 and the drivers have VR motion compensation. It subtracts the platform's movement from the headset tracking, so your view remains stationary. It makes it vastly more immersive since you can't see the room moving around you and it tricks your brain into feeling G forces instead of motion. When you hit the throttle and the seat kicks back it really feels like you're accelerating. This is the company that writes the software: motionsystems.eu/vr-headway/

@@chilibuz1560 dude I have a simcube 2.... it would turn that into a swing set. And im currently building a custom 6 dof platform with real servo motors so no not poor. Thing is you're comparing a kia Rio vs Ferrari which the evo is and your exclaiming oh what a waste i bought a bag of bolts and too picks and im happy. Sorry to be so blunt but you have to admit it's not even close. Also someone being happy with something doesn't even mean it's good it just mean that that particular person is okay with that item. Its not a indication of quality, performance or ingenuity by the designers. Im glad you have had fun but its foolish to bash a nice high end system exclaiming blah blah blah is so much cheaper. I bet a original Nintendo is cheaper but hell the new ps 5 is sure worlds away in performance.

But for 2100$ go find me a platform that has full motion , a software that support easy plug and play for the games and a platform that is cheap to fix if something breaks . There is no simulator that can compare the drive in my M3 , but to play at home with the kid and kill couple of hours a week its worth it. Anyone who got on it was amazed! There is people having all the gear in the world and they still can't complete a sing lap at Nürburgring LOL. Good luck with your build, looking forward to see it in action.

Pretty much this. Evolve's setup reminds me too much of DOF Reality's solution. Its the cheap version of 6dof, but you get what you pay for.

I know this stuff is knew but when filming these things to show example its probably best to keep the camera still so that we ca see the movement on screen and driver movement. You guys aren't the only ones everyone else doing reviews on physically capable simulators did the same

I'm not seeing a lot of lateral gees being simulated here (nor on any other systems being shown online). Why is that? For a real simulation of lateral gees, you'd need to roll much further (think 45 degrees) left and right while cornering. Why do you think the racing seats have those lateral head rests! But none of these simulators are doing enough rolling... I see more pitching than rolling (to simulate the sensation of braking or acceleration).

You don't need that much lateral to be honest. Subtle but harsh movements will get you the same feeling at least that's what I felt but I'm no expert!

@@Snowcatsrt You mean, you've raced on asphalt with high g-forces, and you find that simulating those forces is not necessary? Or that the visceral effect of being jostled about is sufficient? How would you get a feel for drift in the rear end, without first having the lateral forces properly simulated? Years ago, I raced karts on asphalt, and I remember the sensation of going around corners was literally like the whole world got tilted on end (the wrong way!), so that getting around the corner felt like climbing and off-camber wall! The math is pretty straightforward: to simulate 1g lateral force, you need 45 degree tilt in the simulator. MOst asphalt racing will produce those lateral forces. Understood that rallye or dirt racing lateral forces are milder.

@@borisstarosta7823 it did have some lateral forces but it wasn't that extreme. It depends on the setup I guess. Some Sims had more thrust than others and at the time it felt it was simulating a different car but maybe it was the overall setup. I do know that this rig can give more so maybe that has something to do with it.

A good sim but far from the ultimate I'm sorry to say. As far as gamers go it's up there. But straight away I can see lateral loads are missing from this when you corner. A six axis sim should be able to simulate light lateral loads. Airline simulators are six axis. They simulate lateral loads by tilting in the opposite direct to the turn. This racer should be doing the same thing but all it seems to do is yaw in the direction of the turn. But clearly that's a programing issue but anyway the build looks great.

All can be adjusted with an app you get with the system. You can fine tune throttle response wheel ratios and the gyros themselves anyway you like. This was on the default setting they had

How can this be best setup, when you use monitors instead of 3D googles? And it is not the best setup, what these simulators also lacks except the 3D googles is more variability. Like you should be able to easily switch gearleaver if driving japanese and british cars, you should be able to adjust high and overall position of it, to simulate different cars. This seems fixed. Sames goes for steering wheel and pedals, which should be more adjustable, and you should be able to change different sized steering wheels easily. I play PC games since I was 2 years old, so this is general advice of veteran game addict to manufactures of things like these and to people that DIY racing seats.
