Thanks man appreciate it! I learnt around Essex on the river and in the sea but kayaked ever since I was young. Been SUP for nearly a decade I should think now! A lake is a great place to learn. Typically a lot calmer and less tide/wind to worry about!

We stayed at Water Yeat campsite it was a lovely quiet little campsite in an awesome location (with direct access to the river as well!) I highly recommend it but I think they are only open one month of the year. However there is no electricity or water on the campsite so depends on what your needs are they just have portaloos

We stayed at Water Yeat campsite which has access to the river and the south end of coniston water! Awesome little campsite but only open for a limited amount of time each year! 🏕️

Do you not have to have a boat licence? I want to get into this or kayaking but I red it you'd need a licence in the Uk.

Kayaking is just a river license. It sounds more complicated than it is you don’t need to do any test etc like a car license it’s more just a membership which they charge for. Lots of rivers and waterways have different rules regarding access but the best source of information is probably British Canoeing website. Lots of the lakes in the Lake District are free to paddle on 🏄🏼‍♂️
