How about better? I feel the 02 team(well I wasn’t born until about four months later haha) relied on Hakan sukur for assists and their big tall goalkeeper for big saves, and thats how they got past japan and Senegal in those critical matches I feel!

02 team was the end of a great generation. and also was the top of their performance. The team was mostly based on Galatasaray team which was 2000 -2001 UEFA and Super Cup winner. What made that team strong was much more the team spirit and team effort than players personal talents. They were a great generation playing all together since their young ages. They were all different kinds of talents, (not that famous abroad but so much at home) knowing each other very well, building a great team spirit. that made them special and brought the best victories that turkish football has ever seen. But as you guys said, todays Turkish team is far more talented than the Turkish teams ever. But talent is not enough for success. important thing is to create a similar sincere friendship among the players, to build the team spirit and to maintain the team effort. which have been seemed going so well so far. Considering that they will keep the current attitude, I am also so much excited about this teams future... By the way thanks for this podcast...

Guys.. Love you videos.. You could add more star players at this list.. Arda, Kenan and Hakan is top but dont forget Kerem Aktürkoğlu at Benfica.. 8 goals 3 assists just 11 games... Ferdi Kadıoğlu could be a machine ofc.. at 85. min he sprinted so many times about 45 meters like he doesnt even have lungs.. Also he is like Alex De Souza at LB..

I think Turkiye are the 8th strongest team currently after Spain, Germany, France, England, Portugal, The Netherlands and Belgium in Europe. Austria has better team chemistry but are lacking quality boots in comparison so they are 9th. Turkiye could probably push top 4 but not consistently since England and Portugal has stable pool to sustain the strength overall and Dutch and Belgians generationally provide better technical players and overall football mentality. Turkish team's nature is chaotic so it could go either way and that is why it is fun to watch them. That is why they demonstrated the most exotic matches during the last cup especially against Georgia where fans got to see the essence of football.

This team is much younger, more professional, higher profile (Madrid, Juve, etc), and promises higher... '02 team was more mature and mostly local TSL players with a Turkish coach... I cannot forget my excitement for the qualifications and 2002 WC games for sure but I want to see these guys succeed even more... Step by step... 🤞

The success of the current Turkish national team is not only because of the talent of the players, but also because of the brotherhood that reigns in the team. Everyone loves each other and treats each other like brothers. This is the same care they show to coach Montella. He is on the same page with them. His players treat him like a brother, you can see it on social networks. The whole point is that Turks are emotional people and they need support. And under pressure from the coach, they can break down. That is why I believe that there is no one better than Montella. He is the ideal coach for the Turkish national team. And honestly I didn't understand why all Turkish fans demanded his resignation after the game with the Netherlands, but this again refers to the fact that Turks are emotional people.

The current Turkish national team has more potential than the 2002 team. It was a team built on the skeleton of the Galatasaray team in 2002, who knew each other very well but were technically limited. A little bit of luck helped there and we did not face an elite team other than Brazil and we finished third in the world. Kerem Aktürkoğlu, Can Uzun, Orkun Kökçü and Ferdi Kadıoğlu are not mentioned at all in this video. We are talking about a very young team with high potential. Many talented young people, whose names I have not yet mentioned, are waiting for their turn to play. As a Turk, I think we have captured the best generation in history. The "dark horse" of the World Cup is the Turkish national team. We can make big surprises in the tournament.

Some facts. 1-Turkiye is not a good team as a team. 2-Turkiye has many good players but, they are not good together many times. 3.Soemthing is wrong either with players or Coaches. Turkish players in Europe are playing very fast, attack with fightng spirit, but in the national team, They only play with their goal keeper.4.Turkish national team and Turkish team are the worst defensive playing teams. They play defensive but they don't know how to play defensive.5.There are many good players but not very well organized.

No it isn't by far, current team although signed with big teams but majority of the players are benchwarmers. 2002 team was filled with legendary players of its time all of them carrying the teams they sugned with. The bar for entry to European Cup is so low, a mediocre team should be able to reach the tournament.

Best since 2002, maybe better than that but I would not say Turkey is at the top 10 European teams. Yes we were in the quarter finals in the Euro but being a top team means consistency, one time succeses like 2008 does not mean that you are an elite team now. Lets see if they can keep up with that to qualify for 2026.

@KemalArdilGulez Demiral should've been Juve captain now(at least). And yes, we would've been talking about Türkiye as one of the favourites to win major tournaments rather than Türkiye the Dark Horse. Unfortunately we're talking about 'if's. Euro 2016 ve 2020 bizi bitirdi. Bir jenerasyonu yedi. Özellikle 20,kalecilerinden beklerine çoğunun büyük transfer yapmasını engelledi o performanslar. Hala bazen uyku tutmuyor düşünürken özellikle milli aralarda :)

Dont get me wrong i love our new generation but there will be no team like the 2002 team ever. We are talking about the GOAT Players for their positions. And talentwise the 2008 team is better as well - the problem with that team was that these years were arguably peak years of international football where almost every national team had 1-2 superstar players and the other problem was that these stars like Tuncay, Nihat or Rüstü were already declining in their performances due to less playing time in their clubs or due to age.
