Finally! A subject matter that I’ve got 20 years of real world experience with. I use the Manfrotto Autopole II. This system is the original AND I travel with them! My Autopole have NEVER failed me! On assignment, it’s OVERKILL PLUS! I rarely use more than one color background when I’m out shooting, but when extended height poles (16ft. in my garage) or with the spreader legs, it’s an unbeatable system!

Great solution. I have the Impact Wall Mounting Kit that I used to have installed on my ceiling, but I’ve moved into a rental. I’d like to avoid holes in the wall. Do you prefer the Impact Varipole vs the Kupole? I have a ton of Kupo super clamps. Will those work for this just as well as the Impact Clamps? Last thing I didn’t know about the aluminum tubes and agonized over avoiding sag. I ended up discovering that a 1.5” x 1.5” x 8’ piece of wood from Home Depot actually fits perfectly inside the Savage paper roll. I cut it down to fit btwn the expanding white roll holder thingies, and I didn’t have sag in over a year and 1/2. That piece of wood was like 6 bucks.

@@FStoppers depending on whether you don't need the paper sweep on the floor, I use 1" or 2" spring A-clamps to weigh it down. if you want to tension it out at the bottom use several A-clamps starting with a 2" or 3" (depending on the Autopole diameter) around the Autopole, then clamp the leg of another A-clamp in that one to tension out any wrinkles. Works great for muslins and canvas's too.
