For some reason, among Russian bloggers I found only one video about a new topic twenty twenty four. and since I am a beginner and am creating my own website on this topic for myself (informational), it was nice to watch your video! I hope you will release another video about this topic ❤️ I don’t know English, sorry, I wrote this through a translator, but I watched your video with automatic translation. ❤️ good mood 🙏

Awesome! Thanks for showing the power of this theme. I realize I need to learn the default or normal Gutenberg blocks. So for my latest project I’m using the Twenty Four theme without any design or block based plugins to force myself to learn what is, for example Spectra, already default in WordPress.

Thanx for this video and it really shows what's possible with Twenty Twenty-Four out of the box. After a fresh installation one hurdle I came across is setting a static homepage and a separate posts page for the blog posts as the template Blog Home per default contains content. There is a sort of well hidden solution by assigning a different template to Blog Home: 1. Edit the template Blog Home in the Site Editor 2. Choose the 3-dot-menu on the Template tab in the right sidebar next to the template name 3. Click on Replace Template (or whatever it is called in English) 4. Assign one of the four templates shown to Blog Home (the three TT4 use cases + simple one column posts page) This is easier than having to delete all the content in the template Blog Home and then fill it with other blocks or patterns.

Very Impressive. Over all the years of default theme releases this is the first time I’ve seen something I would use, if there were no other tools to hand. It’s those patterns that do the trick in addition to being able to customise with the flexibility of blocks to hand. I’ll add that I’ve just crossed the floor from Divi to Bricks as a challenge to up my game. In terms of workflow it’s very solid and Kevin Geary’s bootcamp 101 is what’s needed to get started.

@@jamiewp I've appraised a lot of the builders over the last 7 years, since I started using Divi. A lot of them were on par but not enough for me to change over. With Bricks there is something different giong on in that you are forced to follow best practice, if you are listening to Kevin and Dave. I still have a lot of time for Divi but they need time to get the foundation re-written so that it performs better, both on the backend for workflow and the front end needs some work in terms of performance. Moving to markup akin to the block editor should move it closer for better interopperability. But once, Divi 5 is launched they will have to to move quick to make sure it's more in line with what Bricks is doing, at least in some areas, for those of us who need something that facilitates a more streamlined workflow. No fear, Elegant Themes gets plenty of feedback from me on these matter.

I've always designed my own templates (with the old Artisteer and now with Nicepage page builder) but I think I need to get on to using the twenty twenty-four and finally bite the Gutenberg bullet. However, although older default themes (eg twenty twenty-one) have been updated over time, new default themes have usually changed significantly each year. What will happen to twenty twenty-four in the future? Will it be replaced by a completely different theme next year? I think what I'm asking is there a migration path for the themes so we can keep sites up-to-date and using all the new features added to WordPress instead of having to re-design every so often?
@jamiewp Жыл бұрын
hi, that is a great question - as you say the default themes are always updated, and now with block patterns we have the ability to update themes and increase longevity. My guess is that there will be a 2025 theme, but you could carry on using 2024 if it meets your needs. The migration path between block themes is also pretty easy (and getting easier) .
@ceateio Жыл бұрын
So updating the 2024 theme to a newer version of it is no problem at all (obviously) but no, you probably won‘t update a company website each year to the newest one. The old ones remain working meaning there‘s no issue with keeping it.

Apologise if you've covered this already Jamie, but i think I've figured out what I'm struggling with Full Site Editing, it's trying to understand the difference between "Styles" "Templates" and Themes" as they all seem to effect the look of the site but in different ways, am i correct in thinking that a "Theme" is what you get when customise the "Styles" and "Templates"? and how do you save that as a "Custom Theme" so it doesn't mess up your current "Theme" once you start tweaking the "Styles" and "Templates", I have a feeling you have covered this previously but not sure if 6.4 has effected things, thanks as always.

That pattern thats in your business example has a 2 column text then image left to right.. then next block has 2 column image then text. this second block should stack right to left for mobile consistency yet it doesn't. like your channel. i need to make a site to sell prints of my photos. some are in landscape and some are in portait orientation. so was wondering how to overcome the mix of the two orientations. basically i just want an image shown and have the ability to buy it. i dont want much on my site but the ability to sell prints while not letting users just get images for free off my site. my original files are really big / high res. i wonder if i should just have the top page be just images for sale and allow the user to buy them and choose the size of the print. ie top page straight to store. i was a little confused if i should install a wp theme or a woo theme but im guessing install a wp theme then add the woo plug in. also what is the best hosting to just play around with designing sites and not spending a lot? just for testing and learning at first? just been wondering about these things. need to get a real simple and clean store design up to post images for print sales. you make the block design seem pretty easy to implement. was considering hiring someone to design it but this doesnt look so complicated. at least i hope. 🤞

Another great Video Jamie - Thanks very much. This theme looks great and the fact now with FSE you can ditch the hundreds of plugins you once needed to do simple tasks is great. WP has got so bloated in the last few years with all these plugins. I was talking to my hosting company the other day and they said the server resources you need to host a WP site now compared with a few years ago has grown massively. It's good to see that this trend might now start to be reversed. Just keeping all your plugins up to date is a real pain (and security issue) albeit I would guess providers make changes often is mainly for financial reasons.

twenty twenty four is the theme with the most horrible usability I've ever seen.
@jamiewp10 ай бұрын
Why?
@chaoswolf-198510 ай бұрын
@@jamiewp I really like the design, which is why I decided to use this theme for my new website. I wasted the whole day today trying to personalize even the simplest things. The template functions are totally confusing and overloaded (what do I have to change where?) If I change the template I can’t preview it, so I can’t even check if the change would work. Example: Design the menu on the desktop page differently than in the mobile view. With other themes you click through the customizer and then you have a theme as you would like it, here you have to change something here and there, but then again it doesn’t have an effect everywhere. The whole thing has really become far too complicated. I’m afraid that the Block Editor has really lost its way and too much time has been invested in it to go back. In my opinion, it is not a good product for the end user. Professionals will code their own themes anyway and the “normal” user is overwhelmed. If I, as a quality manager, had to audit the organization in terms of ISO 9001, I would clearly say that products are being developed here that do not meet customer requirements.
