@@cgarcia650 True as I don't like that model cause thats what killed BMX bikes and sorta killed the sport. I feel like MTB is so strong that even if all the bikes only sold online, We would still go to stores for small stuff and for repairs if needed. And I mean I can't even afford the 2thousand something that they want for a bike now. The in store mark up would make it even MORE impossible for me to buy one lol.

I’m fortunate to have several SC Bicycles, acquired over the last few years for various reasons. As a generalization, within their categories they may not be the best at any single thing, but they tend to do everything well. I also appreciate how easy it is to service their pivots, & etc. Their wheels have been outstanding. Their pricing can be a challenge, but if you’re patient, observing, and flexible, you can find deals. For pure coolness though…man, Transition is pretty cool.

I don't have the depth of understanding to answer the cool question, but can say Santa Cruz is a favored town to visit when cruising the California coast. Good sightseeing, Main Street, food , and music venues. Even has an antique rollercoaster of world renown , built in the days here salesmen used to draw up rollercoasters freehand and sell them to beach towns all along the coast, as a financial development plan. The Santa Cruz coaster was just so good, it outlasted all the competition.

The coolest thing about Santa Cruz is that you can visit the factory, pick up a bike and ride it to some great trails at Wilder State Park which is right next to the factory. That’s cool. About 10 years ago I owned a Highball and over time broke just about every component on the bike. The frame never once let me down.

My sister and I got Trek kids bikes over 10 years ago and my dad still has his Trek hardtail from that time as well that I rode for the past three years (I grew out of my old kid bike years ago but into mountain biking three years ago). I finally jumped the gun and got myself a proper full suspension bike: the Santa Cruz 5010 C R. They certainly used to be. Along with Cove. I think Transition probably have the edge now though.

I've been riding MTB since the 1980's and while I've received unsolicited "nice bike" comments for my rides, my Santa Cruz Tallboy is the only one that continually has random people saying, "cool bike". So the brand seems to have a following. I bought SC TB because it was one of the only bikes with geo that fit my extra long legs and high stack heigh needs in XXL. It's the best riding MTB I've had so far.

Why do they use the name of a WW2 bomb (Tallboy) for a Mountainbike?
@crislabossiere6234
@crislabossiere6234 Жыл бұрын
@@simonm1447 maybe they did, maybe they didn't. Being a USA company I wouldn't think the name of a British bomb would be their favourite name choice. TB does fit tall people better than the average trail bike with its taller stack height. Tallboy is also a kind of bedroom furniture, a type of sail for ships, a large beer can size in the US, and I'm sure other things aside from a bomb. Out of those, maybe the beer can was the influence due to the beer culture that is normal in mountain biking? Who knows? You don't know, and neither do I. It is a good bike though.. and just two day's ago another random person yelled out, "cool bike! I love Santa Cruz", from their front porch as I rode by.. no mention of bombs or WW2..

I'm biased (I have a Nomad V4 that I love), but Santa Cruz is definitely up there towards the top. Yeti is a strong contender too.

It’s funny because they’re skateboards we’re absolutely untouchable in the late 80’s way before their bikes. Now NO one would touch a Santa Cruz deck but the bikes are untouchable!

Santa Cruz is a soulless corporate monster, that retains nothing of its initial “rider owned” spirit. It’s all just marketing guff and gimmicks now. Too many brands under one roof dilute every single one and when you see what Pon actually owns it’s no surprise that all these brands have become dull.

Having grown up in the 80's & 90's, what's really cool is that we have so many mountain bike brand choices these days (not to mention how much abuse they can now take)!

I quite like Marin. Cool company who offers a very solid bang for your buck. Great offerings at the $1k, $2k and $3k range, with a lot of steps in-between. But Santa Cruz does make some top notch stuff. If I ever want to step up to a dream bike and throw away a budget, Santa Cruz would definitely be on my list. The whole glovebox thing is a really neat feature that would be handy every single time you go for a ride. If you go with that, tools in your stem and bar ends and a couple water bottle cages, you will almost never need to carry a backpack even on longer rides. That's pretty rad. The great thing about MTB is there are a ton of great companies and nearly all of them are extremely passionate about the sport.
