@@Reality_TV Ah thank you we really appreciate that. We wish KZbin would let us turn on comments but they disabled all comments on our channel back when we were very small presumably because we have our daughter (a minor) in our videos. No idea why they picked us and not the other channels with children, but every couple of months I ask for comments back and just get lost in bureaucracy. Maybe someday!

@@MobileDwellings - Well I was SUPER HAPPY to see your comment here because 1) it let's me know that you guys are as great as you seem to be by helping out two of my favorites - Kels & Jay, 2) I am getting the chance to tell you that your daughter is an absolute cutie pie and, as a mom, I love to see happy kids with parents who are actually teaching them how to live in the real world and 3) I could thank you for your brutally honest and comprehensive outline of what you actually spent on your bus! That was a GREAT video that wasn't sugarcoated, admitted that you could have done certain things better/cheaper/differently & was to the point. I ALSO liked how you finished the video then went SURFING! LMAO! Work before play! Love that! Fight the power & get your comments back! We need to be able to give you positive validation on your own videos instead of hijacking Kels' & Jay's video! LMAO! I did a little digging. See if taking the steps outlined in THIS LINK help you to get your comments back - piunikaweb.com/2020/11/07/cant-turn-on-comments-on-your-youtube-channels-videos-try-this-workaround/ If you follow those steps, you may be able to turn them back on yourself - hopefully! Good luck to you and I wish you and your beautiful family much love, happiness & joy!

I'm subscribing due to your breakdown story. Truly hope everything works out for the best for you all. I'm now 75. My late husband and I always said that we wanted to live in a bus and just drive around the country wherever we wanted too. If we had done that I'm sure that at some point we would have been right where you all are now! I also know that things would have worked out for us, they always did, and they will for you all too! Just keep your chin up and help each other out! Will follow along with you all as long as you keep posting. 👍🤗

You can always request a chargeback on your credit card for the amount you think you were overcharged. Always be sure when you're disputing with a merchant face to face that you tell them that you will let them charge the card, but that you don't agree with the charges and you will be filing a chargeback request with your credit card company. A lot of merchants straighten things out on site then because they get dinged for the chargebacks, so they want to avoid the bad mark on their merchant account. Use this as your leverage to negotiate. So sorry you had all of this happen to you, but I really appreciate you showing the unglamorous side. As a future skoolie dweller I feel more prepared by looking for potential pitfalls with my bus.

I lived in Humboldt and went to HSU. These people out in those hills are the problem. Black Market cannabis is the foundation to the areas current economy, which previously had crashed with the old lumber mills. Everyone needs to eat. I'd rather deal with a bunch of hippies than the Bulgarians and Cartels that were very very apparent in Southern Humboldt. Which Campground was this? Check out Elk Country Campground, they were awesome.

Oh My God! So sorry you "landed" there. We were there in May of this year - no one was being allowed to even use the water for the dump station. This woman is an absolute piece of work. She treated our friends that met us there for a four day stay like something on the bottom of her shoe. Our friend is a disabled vet, and his wife is lovely, but they had a tent and no bathroom (so to speak). We had a bathroom in our R POD so we told the B that our friends would be using our facilities. Get out of there as soon as you are fixed. There is a person who is managing that park, seasonal so probably gone now. We love your channel and hope you can get beyond this winch and have a lovely time in California....the ducks at that place were really too friendly too. LOL xoxmary and aaron

Trimmigrants are migrant workers who work on pot farms. Lady needs a to get a life if she’s wasting her energy discriminating against working folks. Discrimination isn’t a byproduct of going thru stuff, it’s a root moral issue. We’re not all the same.

Our local Walmart used to let people stay all night until some people started to live there. Drugs, and alcohol were a problem also. Some people left trailers, cars, trucks, motor homes and garbage! It was a mess. There still are people with tents, and I don't mind them if they clean up. Most don't. One guy took a huge POOP, and that's when I got pisses. He did say he was sorry, and I said you could of buried it. They are starting to let people stay for 1 night I think. Stay SAFE! There's always weird people out there, and I've seen a few at Walmart!

Well though I feel for your plight, I agree with the campground. You’re in a spot that someone else can be in. Even if there may be empty spots. If you stay in a hotel, even if you sit and use nothing, you still have to pay a day rate if it’s past check out, and a full night after check in wether you stay the night or not. This is because it’s unlikely you can clean the room for resell. And at a campground, unlikely you will get a late booking in. Even if there are empty rooms. It’s a business not a charity. 30$ was reasonable. They should at least authorize your card at the time you check in to a hotel or campsite. Meaning it’s a hold for the amount per the full stay plus more for incidentals, then AFTER you vacate they proper amount is charged to your card. It’s not the same as a restaurant where you pay after. You do have to have the funds upfront for most places you stay. Including campgrounds. The fact that you think they can’t charge your card without your permission, it’s inaccurate in this situation. You gave them your card, and usually have to sign in with a registration form that should state the agreed night rate plus tax. On the other side of it, like I said, they should have done a preauth on your card and then complete the preauth only after you have physically vacated. This way if you have any complaints, or additional charges, you can then approve or dispute charges at check out. Or pay cash if you change how you want to pay. Then the preauth is canceled instead of refunded. This is the professional thing to do. I also do feel the campsite woman needs to be better trained in guest services and learn how to properly accommodate your unique situation.

That tow was probably $1600 for the towing plan. I know this pain myself. I blew the engine on the first trip from buying our bus 200 miles from home. But we have a new powertrain at this point. This too shall come to pass! What did they saw was wrong with it? The estimate seems high if you didn't hear internal engine problems before it quit.

I have had first hand experience of your situation, my Mercedes bus quit on us as we crossed from U In to Europe. Due to incompetent insurers, our recovery was delayed. The recovery guy who did come was excellent. Having to temporarily abandon our bus, we proceeded with our vacation in a provided minivan. We were lucky enough to get the same great recovery guy once more for our return journey. However Bigoted people did try to rain on our parade. But with people who realised we had jobs and mortgages plus responsibilities back home, we also met some truly enlightened people that more than made up for it.

As a mechanic myself, I do understand some of this dilemma. Its almost as much as a full rebuild and that to me is either absorbent or someone is not monitoring the rig that they drive. I understand how easy it is to get caught up in the moment of travel, but no hints of impending problems.... it has gauges so it should of let you know whether the engine is low on oil or overheating... those two are on you if you don't pay attention. I would of thought that some minor repairs could me made like oil and water are easy enough to monitor. I just can't see it letting go as its quite old so it shouldn't have that many computer problems. A price that high signals to me that the engine failed completely and that would me it ran out of one of those things or the engine is seriously laboring with the weight its carrying. I would think it should handle most of the stuff added as it carried a lot of people and they can add up to some serious weight. No indication something was going wrong means to me that some education on your part is necessary to avoid it happening again. A lot of really nice rigs go to wrecking yards because the owner couldn't fix and the shop said either pay or no play. I don't like it and most would agree that looking at this situation someone is being taken advantage of. A no break mechanic should have such karma come back on him an see how it feels. I am also gathering that with the little bits of gratuities from youtube is what is keeping you on the road and going to different places. I really think the hardest is yet to come as they will not let someone come into their RV park and make money working as dishwashers and other menial jobs that earn money while you get what it needs to run again. I do hope a go fund you or something pulls through but both of you need to get some kind of work going to keep up this adventure. I am quite sorry about your situation but it does point to someone not paying attention or someone is ripping you off. Riding in a tow truck is as expensive as getting it fixed.

I have to say, it is pretty standard for campgrounds to charge anyone who comes in or stays after 2 or 3 p.m. on a day, no matter if they stay overnight or not. That's not really about you guys. That's how they run business. You are in a space in the campground, and it doesn't really matter if you're using anything or not. You are using the space on their property. Just a perspective from someone who has been in the business of running campgrounds (which btw is expensive to do and often hard to stay afloat in). This is normal practice and it isn't about you or your bus.

To add, during Covid the place I worked went under after 47 years open because of a pandemic and flooding hitting the same year. A generational business gone in just a few short months of hardship. I hope people here hoping to boycott this place can pan their view out a bit and realize that businesses have rules for a reason, whether you like it or not, and that doesn't make them bad people.

@@somerandomyoutubechannel5816 this is the exact reason we didn't want to share the campground's name. We understand times are tough, and understand why she wanted us to pay. You admitted to charging my card yet you still expect me to ok a new charge. Did you ask me why I am here and if I'm a so called trimmigrant? Thats what a fan of it I am. Also, next time you get towed I would suggest you get towed to a tractor dealer/repair shop. Like a freightliner dealer or similar. They are use to having drivers stay in their trucks also. If you don't know where one is the driver of the large wrecker will know. He could probably take you there blindfolded.

I was a trucker and mechanic. They spend half a day on just diagnostics and stated need for new fuel pump and other parts; charged thousands and still would not run. Then stated possibly ECM; THAT should have been checked in the diagnostics. THEN discovered a faulty relay....WTF. They should eat the fuel pump since apparently they replaced a perfectly good working one. Get the pump from them; have it tested and box it; if they won't give it to you record it and use that as evidence with their invoice; stated bad pump, replaced it and still wouldn't start; you'd win your case. THEN sue the shit out of that shop and bring in the pump as evidence. From your statement of what happened you started idled and stopped. No mechanical noises etc. My first thought is electrical; check the fuel shut off solenoid. I would then check the start and run circuit; I have no power then likely problem, that okay then crack an injector line on the pump and crank it; no fuel chec tank lift pump filters to engine; if okay then maybe pump. A jumper wire for test and bus starts you found your problem. Another thing I want to bring up and I don't know what year they Cummins fixed is what is called TDPOD - the dowl pin of death. There is a lot of videos about it; the steel pin works it way out of the block under the timing cover and destroys the timing gears and cover. Get the engine service manual and one for the bus and study it; make yourself more mechanically inclined; you save on repairs and know when getting screwed. I work as a freelance mechanic and I never made a bad call because I'd eat it.
