That's a great review on a very well priced tent. You make a good point that the overland tax and all these people jacking up their prices should be finished. And thanks for sticking it out camping at that spot. That looks absolutely terrible! 😵‍💫😁

@@NigelNaughton thank you for watching! Ya that camp site was... A camp site. Lots of people, car alarms all night, you know the story. But, sometimes that's what you get. The tent, I'm really impressed the quality we can have these days at that price level. Even if the $4,000 dollar tents are a bit nicer, they're not with the price difference. Most of us just don't have the money to get all the things we want. So this tent helps the normal guy get in the game. Bravo San Hima.

@@EverymanOverland and most of us are not getting the $4000+ tents (insert product here) for free as "influencers" telling us that they are a game changer and we absolutely 100% need them. Haha 😜 It's great to see new, very good, inexpensive products hitting the market.

Solid review, my dude. Looks like a great little summer tent. I do think the addition of a rain flow of some sort would be key to being able to use it more., Especially with the way it rains down south. @EverymanOverland

@@SJSCHOCH not a chance in hell. No, I don't know the exact height, but I can say that my roof rack just touches the opening on a 7 foot door. So, if the tent is 8 inches tall, I would surmise 7 for 8 inches, at least for my truck. I guess you could measure how much clearance you have with you roof rack empty and if you have more than 8 inches you can try it. But I'd put money on it not working.

@EverymanOverland
@EverymanOverland Ай бұрын
@@breadfanornofan1148 nah dood... In my opinion the 6'6" rules you out. You're too long for wedge style tents. I'm 6'3" 330ish and it's pretty much a 1 person affair with me in there. Get, or lay on a full size air mattress. That's all the room you have in there. And your feet are down at the narrow end of the wedge getting trapped. It's not about the weight, though you should be sure your roof rack can support 800+lbs. Look into the clamshell style tents like the ikamper sky camp. There's far less expensive versions than ikamper, but that style is what you'll want. You'll have the room to be comfortable.

@ so would something like a Roofnest pop up be a good option? Im looking to use my tailgate as a possible step instead of a ladder
@EverymanOverland
@EverymanOverland 29 күн бұрын
@breadfanornofan1148 the roof nest pop up will have the same problem that it has a fixed floor dimension. You're going to want something that folds, so the floor dimensions increase when it's opened. If you're looking at roof nest, the condor is what you'll want. Or the ikamper sky camp, tuff stuff Overland alpha... I'm sure there's more. Even the smittybilt Overlander soft shell. Soft shells are a bit of a pain to set up and tear down, but they're big inside. As to using your tailgate instead of a ladder, I don't understand why you would do that, but... I'd have to look at the setup you have to figure out if you could make it work. My initial thought is you couldn't.
@breadfanornofan1148
@breadfanornofan1148 29 күн бұрын
@ looks like the Sparrow 2 has a decent amount of length. I'm going to take a stab at it and see if it'll work. Thankfully both roofnest and amazon have amazing return policies. The reason I want to try and use my tailgate is that I had a back injury awhile back so Ive been trying to find a decent tent with a rear entry. It's going on a 2017 Tundra with a 12in bed rack so it's not too high up from the tailgate. I also hate ladders so for me a step stool on the tailgate may be better for me. I really appreciate your insight and I'll keep you updated when I get it. May even do a review!

@@walterbeland5233 the skylight portion of the roof is at a sharp enough angle that it won't hold water. It also has a rain fly over that part of the tent that can be taken off if the weather is good. But with the rain fly in place, you're not going to get any water in through there.
