Hi George and Lotus, I look forward to your Middle East adventure - I was 22 back in 1983, married an Italian in Italy and took off for Beirut, Lebanon to do a graduate degree at AUB - my wife and I were Middle Eastern Studies majors/Arabic speakers and met while studying in Tunis. Now we were foolhardy back then and ran into a war and were quite frankly lucky to get out alive. My advice to you is if you haven’t got your COVID vaccine, get it while back in the Netherlands! You are young but not indestructible. As I tell people, just because we are fed up with COVID, don’t let down your guard! People don’t stop ducking gunfire when there is a war just because they are weary of it and nor should you take COVID casually - I had a very successful career as a risk manager and taking those small numbers seriously is important! Sorry to be paternal here but having been a big risk taker (Emerging Market Bond trading prior to moving over to risk management)I learnt to minimize risk! Cheers, Rod

Come to India, either u love it or hate it. There are no 2 ways about it. I would the Southern part of India for ur first visit then head to Sri Lanka and doback packing in Maldives. We have done backpacking in Maldives, only thing is no Alcol , other than that great experience. If u need help with ur India plan give me a shout out

Oh India was on our list as first country we wanted to travel to and start our world trip. But due to covid that was not possible. Now indeed we have plans for India for 2022, once were allowed in again. I personally (Lotus) have already been tot India a few years ago and have Indian roots. And absolutely love the country, its magical Where are you from exactly?

@@LotusGeorge We live in Bangalore which is the Silicon Valley of India. We also have a place in Kerala which is the southern most state in India. India opened for tourists on Nov 15th. Only vaccine proof required, no quarantine.
