So this is too “woke”? But captain jack was okay, or do those of you who consider this too woke, dislike captain Jack? What about Riversong and the doctor? Quite a bit of romance there between the doctor and her. Or does that not matter because it’s a man and a woman. There was a lot of unhappy people with that story line. Not sure why. Were people disgruntled because the doctor actually had a romantic relationship? People hated the new Who when it was rebooted after classic Who retired. Eventually people adapted and came to love it. Now we have another major change and is considered all wrong. I’ve watched Doctor Who for a very long time. I haven’t always liked changes initially but came to appreciate new doctors and different approaches to stories. I’ll admit I haven’t liked all the writers. Everything changes. I’m glad that most people are willing to accept these changes.

I've always liked the Doctor, but now it's weird I don't feeli it anymore, maybe 'cause he's too normal. The Doctor was an icon of neurodivergency before, but now, no fidgeting, no social awkwardness, nothing. I think that's what upsets me the most. Plus the fact that he wears different clothes. And also the fact that he cries and falls in love so easily (for this one I kinda get it, every Doctor has its own personality).

I'm into Doctor who since October 2023, I've only watched the 2005 series 3 times. So I don't think it depends on the generation. There are just some symbols that you shouldn't remove. Of course the show is about change, but some things never changed and that's what made the show so amazing.

@@DeusLucifer I think it's good to show a man on TV who is unaffected by toxic masculinity we learn as boys and is in touch with his emotions and it makes a refreshing change from many previous doctors who have been unable to express their emotions and it can get frustrating sometimes. I love this Doctor's personable manner, Ncuti's amazing acting and The Doctor's main tool or weapon has always been his speech and he's used that to inspire others to save the day sometimes.

It's weird, ever since Space Babies, the doctor hasnt actually saved the day. In Devils Chord, it was the Beatles, Boom was the farther, 73 Yards was ruby, nobody really saved anything in Dot and Bubble and now Rouge in this episode. Perhaps it's purposeful by RTD but it's hard to truly invest in the main character if they're not really winning. In my opinion.

Putting all ideologies, phobia's and ism's to one side, this is not how you attract viewers to a TV show. You do not let your actors and writers alienate all the fans who have kept this show going for 60 years. You cannot have them tell people to touch grass then whinge that the ratings have fallen. I understand the BBC and RTD want to attract a newer age group (under 30's) and I get the inclusiveness policy but it was never going to work. The audience you are trying to get just don't have any long term emotional investment in Dr Who. You do not take an existing icon of TV and destroy it, you create other iconic TV programs (Queer as Folk as an example). So to answer the question posited in the title of this video, yes it is the end of the Doctor and Rogue. In fact it is the end of Dr Who.

@lostvarius I care about the ratings greatly they are what keeps a show alive. Without good ratings, it ends up Cancelled. That happened to Doctor Who back in 1989. My issue is the direction they've taken the show with the Doctor acting out of character and not like the Doctor I knew before. The writing is off too with thing's simply being never answered or forgotten about or the episodes are simply sloppily written by RTD who in my opinion is not a good writer nor never has been.

Either way you’re contradicting yourself : either you like the show and wish for it to continue, or you don’t and so why care about ratings ? The doctor is acting like he always has since the revival, with a few variations. And RTD is a great writer. Like anyone he misses the mark from time to time, and I agree that he’s taken on too many episodes this season. But more writers will be brought on next season. Now, I still want to know your specific gripes with this season, this doctor, and RTD in general.

I don't know why they let romance/sex into Doctor Who. I preferred the old version. And RTD is always trying to make points - he doesn't like the English or England, straight white men and oodles of people who don't share his superior worldview. The episodes are not life enhancing or progressive: after all, Colin and Guido kissed in EastEnders in 1989 and there have been plenty of gay/lesbian kisses on TV since then and they are a minority. It feels like RTD is just thrusting things up our noses all the while.
