Nice! I am both a hardware AND (the last couple of years) a software guy; predominantly iOS. I’m not crazy about hardwiring the midi to the iOS devices, especially in church (when I’m not in the organ). I appreciate your reviews immensely! The nearest [real] music store is about 60 miles, so I don’t get to try out controllers. In the church, I use my ancient, trusty, dusty Fatar Studio900, but I think you’ve sold me on the M-Audio Hammer 88! Whichever ‘board I would use, I’m certain that the CME would probably make life a whole lot easier! Keep up the great reviews! ✌🏻😎🎹🌴🌞

@2:02 That is exactly how I am using it, And it’s awesome!! Synthstrom Deluge has one, 1 to 5 MIDI splitter has the other. Controls 5 hardware devices, on same or different MIDI channels, and I have yet to hit latency, as long as iOS stays out of the chain.

I like that it also acts as a receiver and not just a transmitter, so that if you have two of them you can wirelessly connect a MIDI controller to a synth module.

These are a great idea. I'm not sure they are the future of midi(maybe they are) but they definitely have their place & could be essential in certain applications & are very convenient. I have a Yamaha bluetooth MIDI dongle that is kinda similar to this, but doesn't seem as robust. I might do an upgrade here to make my rig do all the things I want it to!

Just saw your reviews of other wireless Bluetooth MIDI devices where several were duds, and the good ones are hard to find sometimes. I like the new feature to connect two WIDIs together (e.g. synth to keyboard). Very nice. Thanks for the video.

My only thing with Bluetooth midi is that you still need to power up these boards with power adapters. USB midi is still clutch because it’s provides midi & power. Maybe you should do a video “Wireless midi & power bank vs USB midi to see what is more convenient depending on the context.

Wow great product! I’m a church keyboardist in Korea and it’s a hassle to setup my keyboards with my ipad every Sunday. I think it will really shorten my process if I use one of them. Thank you for sharing a great product with us.

I have considered Yamaha’s similar Bluetooth MIDI DIN adapter off and on for awhile, but this CME WIDI Master looks like it may be preferable - possibly lower latency, option to use MIDI out only, etc. CME continues doing some cool stuff!

It’s certainly cool and it’s a valid point about Apple. However, I am old school and just love the dependability and stability of hardwired. Especially live! For me I would be more prone to use this in a studio situation than live. I am so old school I even like 5 PIN over USB. I hate that USB comes unplugged so easily.

Hi John, I currently use a SL88 live on stage using Ravenscroft on IPad, controlled via korg plugkey MIDI cable and stereo jack out to a DI for front of house. If i was to use WIDI and connect the SL88 and ipad wirelessly, what is the best way to send signal back to front of house? Do I continue to use the korg plug key? The only difference now is that I no longer need the previous midi cable? Is there a better solution? Thank you for your help.

Question for you: In the past, using wireless bluetooth kills all control from the hardware to the software side. For example, I have a Novation SL MK3. When i'm on USB I can go into inControl mode and take hold of Ableton, BUT when using wireless, that goes away. If you look in the preferences for setup, with the USB cable, it shows Novation SL MK3 three different times and you select all three to control from the hardware, but when bluetooth is connected, it'll show exactly like your video, the bluetooth option comes up and that's what you need to select but when you do, you no longer have control. I hope this makes sense. Is there a way around this with Bluetooth devices?

Yup it does...basically when you connect via Bluetooth midi you loose that functionality and it just becomes a generic midi controller
