I actually made samples from my Korg and Yamaha Motif and uploaded those to my Nord.

I got my Nord Stage 3 and love the organ and piano sounds, but the synth section, not so much. Good thing i kept my Yamaha Motif and Korg Kross 2.

I am keyboardist and have been playing keys for 43 years. I agree that nord has awesome piano and organ sounds of all the makers. But i do disagree a bit on the synths. I think its a toss up between what pad or synth or even drums or orchestra sounds. I am a hardcore roland and korg user. But Yamaha is also killer. I THINK korg has always been the best synth sounds especially going all the way back to the wavestation which i own as well as a trinity V3, triton studio, and kronos X. I wanted the Oasys but it was always overpriced like nord boards. But yamaha motif and montage are off the chain as well. I have the new fantom 6 as well as the fantom XR and fantom G6 and G8. But also don't sleep on kurzweil. I own a kurzweil k2500 and the PC3LE7. But I also own an ensoniq sq1 Plus 32 voice with all sound cards a TS12, a KT88 and a MR61. But personally for me. Because I own over 20 synths. and I used synth anthology, analog lab V, sampletank as well as the korg collection VSTs MY all time favorite pianos for the sound quality is the analog lab V v2 pianos. As far as organs. Since I play a real hammond C3 with a leslie 122a cab. I never looked to buy a nord board simply because they were always overpriced in my opinion. The Pianos in my yamaha, korg kronos, kurzeils, and roland fantom boards are good enough. but the most realistic to me as far as pianos are also with my analog lab V and Sample tank studio pro from IK Multimedia.

Roland v piano tech is ages ahead of nord, I will never understand the blind fanboyism over them

Nord is easy to beat, they have bad mechanics and buttons are easy to pull of, I think they fall of by themselves within a year. Hammond is bad on Nord, I was not impressed. The pitch-bend wheels are not there on Nord, that's killing the instrument. However, there is a better alternative for the Roland V-Stage, that is the Hammond SK-Pro. I also have a Roland Fantom 8, but it is 30 kg so I needed something light for on stage, which is now the HAMMOND SK-PRO. I love my instruments, but this thing is 2 years too late on the market. Probably it's also not a hammond touch-a-like.

It's a nobody killer. Your average middle class musician can't afford to pay that kind of bucks. Keyboards are getting way to expensive and overpriced.

I know it's silly, but I really wish the V stage had used a wood-coloured brown for the areas that were made as red. Or any other colour, to not look like copycat styling.

I have the Stage 4 and have loved my Roland 700NX which has a far superior piano action. For me, I just do not like any of the pianos on the Stage 4, they all feel artificial, synthetic. Nord have this stupid thing of only giving you 1 gb of memory and expecting you to cram all of your sounds into it. It even gives you the option of decreasing the quality of your sounds by not using XXL sounds (bigger) and replacing them with XL and smaller sounds. We do not need this silly confinement, the board is already way over priced and we should have at least 1TB of storage space on board. That’s 1000 times more. Then we would have room for proper sounds. This madness is never talked about, but you simply can’t put hundreds of high quality sounds into such a tiny amount of Storage. To get around this, in part only, they off a system of deleting your factory presets and downloading other instruments. ATop of the line acoustic VSL piano collection is 350 gbs. Nord want it all in 1 gb including all of your EPs and other sounds. Nords excuse is that their memory is expensive, it’s claimed as super fast, but all VST pianos run off M.2 drives and give excellent performance, so we do NOT need this excuse. The things I do like are the layout, it’s really hands on, dry little menu diving. There is a very good, but limited Rhodes sound called Stockholm, which you have to delete other sounds to download but it’s right. The organ is pretty good, the sim not so much. The action is a compromise, it’s got a triple sensors which do make a difference, but on my recent trips to piano superstores, I have found that most actions are trying to satisfy new ie fingers, they are lighter. The Nord is like this. If I take my Nord out, it is with a laptop, I have VSTs with better sounds like the Hammond B3X and other piano sounds.

Looks like Roland is the new Behringer. Finally the competition is increasing in this segment and Nord will have to cut their silly high prices. I get a strange feeling that the Nord Piano 6 release was just an excuse for increasing the price even further so that they can then start cutting the price in the future and still make loads of money.

Roland Stage sounds a little better than the nord to me the nord sounds are to mickey mouse and thinn, especially the organ sounds like a plastic toy now the crumar has that fat jazz organ identical to my B-3 hammond and a real fender rhoads piano sounds that is my view,

I do agree the Nord stage keybeds aren’t that great, but Roland keybeds aren’t great either. The best keybed I’ve felt so far is from Studio Logic they under rated but it’s an amazing experience

Pro Tools makes sense if you been using it for 10+ years and know it inside out, then its the best daw for you, for a newbie, maybe get into another option, unless your plan is to be working in LA or Nashville with a lot of people.
@beatz04Күн бұрын
I can't understand Nord's refusal to simply integrate 2 standard wheels with all their keyboards either. Because then you could use all of them as a midi controller as well. At their prices, the lack of standard wheels is almost a deal breaker for me.

Fl studio as well as Logic are not DAW’s. They should have made this correction over a decade ago. They are MIDI/Audio workstations. Daw means Digital Audio workstation.

Today it´s more about the Software. Special in the Intro Versions for beginners with a smal buget. Arturia Minilab comes with there Analog Lab, whitch is a real bang vor 100.-Bugs. Native Instruments with Komplete Kontrol. Novation with a real good DAW remote feature. Another big point are Sequencer and routing options. On the Hardwareside, they are all ok. Like You said. Most of us Producers are not pro pianists anyway. For those Gays, the Keybed is importent, but they will pick a proper E-Piano.

See now you say it’s not an industry standard for everyone. You guys are twisting it up. It is THE INDUSTRY STANDARD. Which means it’s the stars for the industry. Is it the daw of your personal choice.? Maybe not. But you ARE NOT THE INDUSTRY. You Used pt to master 90 percent of your work because it is the one daw the industry universally accepts. It’s industry standard for them because they are iconic within the industry. That’s not to say you cant produce a great song in fl studio. But at the end of the day the industry will require those waves. They will run them into pro tools. The AD DA conversion is greater by far than any other software coded to coincide with their hardware in ways you can only imagine.

Respectfully nothing will ever be a nord killer, their sounds and samples is why they're light-years ahead of the biggest companies who've dominated music for a long. These companies can only provide an alternative for those who can't afford nord type prices imo. Like the Roland rd88 or studiologic numa or Yamaha ck.

There are other paths to this. The Yamaha CK series has excellent EP & Clavinet. It has very good Hammond with drawbars (fast Leslie is a bit squirrelly, but you don’t really notice in a live stage mix). It has many other very good sounds. The piano works well in a rock/pop band and has good polyphony. The tenor sax sound is very good, many synth sounds are very good, I could go on… pair the CK61 with an inexpensive weighted 88 key midi board (like the old Casio CDP100), and for $1200 or less you’re set.

@ Might be true, but not everyone has the kind of $$ needed to get the ‘better’ unit - but they still need the sounds. If money is no object you get what you want. Most gigging musicians don’t fall into the “no object” societal echelon.

The Nord has too little storage to store quality nuanced sounds. So there is huge room for improvement there
@mattmckeon168815 сағат бұрын
I have started to wonder how the product teams at these companies conclude that repackaging a ~20% improvement in sounds & software capability in all new hardware. Does each one really need to put out an 'upgrade' which is more like a facelift each 2-3 year cycle just to keep up with their competitors' minor tweaks.
@mattmckeon168815 сағат бұрын
It probably is the case that there are diminishing returns when the products are already so good. Most reviews of the Nord Stage 4 said "keep your Nord Stage 3", even though they acknowledged that the 4 was slightly better with a few more features, but not by enough to justify upgrading from the already excellent 3.
@soultechmedia8355Күн бұрын
I prefer Yamaha and Korg pianos. That’s why I’ll never sell my Kronos or YC. My Nord stage 3 is great too. Never a fan of Roland pianos. Great looking board tho. Nice to see competition, keep these other companies on their toes.
