I also suffered while doing the achievement but it wasn't much of an issue until I broke the truce with the coalition and got unlucky at the start with Amina Zazzau dying before I attacked anyone.

Katsina trade node is the best opening target because you can have a merchant "establish communities" in Timbuktu to cool down the coalition risk there.

Great comment on the 7% siege. I had like 50% siege bonus from advisors and other stuff and it took me until 89% to siege down a capital without a fort. Roughly 750 ish days. I was trying to race the ai which was sieging my fort in Savoy. It took them about three rolls and they beat me.

I will say if there's one thing they can change in this game that I wouldn't miss its being able to sit on a siege at ~50% for 10+ ticks without taking the damn fort. Instantly gets my blood boiling almost as bad as a disease outbreak

3:24 don't let the 1 stat distract you, that's an 11 point heir with 3/5/3 spread when you focus on Admin, not bad at all. Most 10 point heirs and above are good with the appropriate focus

i got various (20+) achievements on my first ironman playthru as Zimbabwe & some of them had 0.1 or 0.2% of players had achieved them

Same, the main way of making it easier is to snake zazzu and benin avoiding agressive expansion + vassalising air, feeding it and force it fetishist. Important note, zazzau can go sunni hausa if they have certain provinces so its better to feed those to benin

Siege percentages are so broken. Swear I've lost sieges on like 78% 4 times in a row, I've also counted times when I've lost sieges 4 times on 40% The percentage chance of something like this happening is astronomically small. Yours is 1 / 10.000 Mine is a also 0.23426% = 1/434 Combat phases is just against you as well. Rolling a 10 sided dice with the chance of hitting the same number 4 times in a row is also crazy small. I've noticed that when you become really large, and you're not looking at besieging provinces, siege chances are also busted af, I once got a fort all the way to 99% so it actually helps by selecting the sieging province.

There’s a lot harder achievements than this tbh. I finished this achievement in 1489. Make sure you got fetishist allies and give them land while also taking some for yourself. It really isn’t that difficult once you get going.
