An update to those watching this a bit later....you can catch sharks with the iron fishing rod. You get this from advancing your fishing skills and purchasing the licenses.

I've been watching wumbus stream this and am loving it. The only downside is I don't use my computer to game anymore. (I haven't even put my computer back together after moving yet and it's been months) so unless it comes to switch 8m probably gonna have to live vicariously through Livestreams.

Oh also wanted to point out it seems to take some influence from Minecraft as well. Maybe getting a pet is similar? I would see if you can feed a dingo some food, lol. (I have zero idea if this would actually work)

@@Eeowna add-on to my previous reply you might have to trap a pet? Because it looks like you need to get an animal's health down to trap them? (going off of Google for that) so much experimenting needed in this game since it's so new.

Did you get the Happy Home upgrade for Animal Crossing? I really love it, but you have to like decorating homes to enjoy it. A good hack for the heat is to put a cold pack or pan of ice in front of a fan to cool your room down. That’s what we do in the Southern US when the A/C isn’t working. I recommend getting a few refreezable cold packs you can switch out. The clay filled ones stay cold the longest.

Looks kinda like an Animal crossing parody but i don’t really mind. This game takes similar mechanics and makes them better somehow. I’m so excited to play it on my Nintendo when it comes out

The gameplay loop seems promising but I'm not a fan of the way the game looks. Its bland, washed out, and uninspired. Looks like a mobile game. Part of Animal Crossing's appeal is its cutesy look. This game doesn't have that. The characters look creepy/soulless. Maybe it will look better in time, but I can't see the look of it changing that much. If it actually runs well on switch I might give it ago but we're talking about probably 1-2 yrs from now before its ported over.

Very late to the video, new to the channel. I don't own a switch but love your content. For anyone watching this looking at the game, you CAN catch the shark with a fishing rod, but you need the level 3 fishing permit to unlock the iron fishing rod. That's the only rod you can use to catch the shark atm. Fossils are in the game but they don't go in the museum oddly. They can be sold for a GOOD amount of money. I'm loving this game and completely agree with your take on it.

Has it got any changing the island mechanics like animal crossing. I feel like being able to change cliffs, rivers, trees, being able to flatten the island and stuff like that are a huge part of AC for me and so far can’t find something close to comparible 🤷‍♀️

yep!! you can terraform just like AC, @Console Caito and @FleursCrossing have great Dinkum decorating videos. @Emmalution does fun 100 day challenges that showcases the actual gameplay (terraform and decoration included) i can't wait for this to hit Switch and blow up, Dinkum is SO fun!

This is such a racist colonialism of australia all over again, they could have worked with First Nation people and learnt great ways to farm native foods, include indigenous knowledge in ways to succeed….
