in his tutorial he gives it the poly sub bass name, but what's wrong afaik is the thing david said about it being the 3rd subharmonic of throat bass. Indicator says that it's a bass that works without any throatbass.. being vocal fry and a vibration in the nose thing at the same time

@@victorvitez7328 it’s really called poly sub bass because it uses two subharmonic notes, one from the mouth one from the nasal cavity. Alien bass is just another informal name for it. Hey David, first, thank you for all these great videos ! Knowing what happens in the backstage of all these vocal techniques is really fun and interesting ! I was wondering if you could do videos specialized in every each technique you have explained in the past, like a video on the first degree of subharmonics, how it works, how to achieve it and use it in the music world, then a video on the second degree, then a video on inhaled singing, etc ! Because at each video we get a piece of advice for each and every technique, but I still can’t really get the difference between the 1st and 2nd degree of subharmonics, or the function of false folds, the vocal fry, and all those things you seem good at to explain ^^ Thank you for your time, have a nice day !

Hey David I love your video, elated to see you back in action! I do want to make one correction though, I am able to do throat bass, vibration bass, and enel’s bass as well as regular subharmonic register, and can verify that enel is NOT “switching between throat bass and vibration bass” for this video or for his bass. His bass is NOT vibration bass, but many other beatboxers have made this assumption as well, mostly because vibration bass’ precursor is a tightened kind of voice filter effect that also is being used for enel’s bass as a component. However, while you are correct that vibration bass is the second subharmonic of throat bass, enel’s bass does not use the false folds, it is not inthe throat bass family at all. Instead, I’ve discovered and verified this with an American beatboxer who can perform enel’ bass himself, that this bass is actually the subharmonic register bass, the only difference is that instead of “harmonizing” the regular modal voice and the outward vocal fry register, this is using a tightened kind of voice that many beatboxers use and tuvan culture refers to as “khoomei” (similarly to how they refer to throat singing/throat bass as kargyraa), being harmonized with the vocal fry. The result is still an octave under the normal modal voice’s note, but the texture is much more robotic and tin-ny sounding. So this is not actually throat bass or vibration bass. Vibration bass is much heavier, louder, deeper (being that it’s an octave and a fifth under the true voice’s tone) enel’s bass is simply just subharmonic register (the 1st subharmonic level) but with the tight voice instead of the regular clear modal voice. I can perform all three so I can verify they are different mechanistically and anatomically. If you ever want a great example comparing enel’s subharmonic register vs the regular one that you’ve used, feel free to watch xureck vs enel beatbox fantasy battle. Spoiler alert: Sound quality is not great, but it is one of the only examples out there currently of the tightened-voice variant of subharmonic register vs the regular subharmonic register as vocal bass techniques in a beatbox battle. Cheers and let me know if you ever would like to talk/Instagram, I love to research and share knowledge about vocal basses.🙏

@alkmibeats21334 жыл бұрын
You are correct though in saying that indicator’s poly sub bass is absolutely related to enel’s bass. Enel’s bass is essentially 1st subharmonic level subharmonic register bass but with a tightened voice filter effect (most call this “jayton voice” after the Russian más twinz beatboxer who popularized this, wrongfully sometimes call it “pash voice” after the wrong twin, tuvan cultures call this “khoomei” so I use this name when wanting to sound culturally literate lol) Indicator’s bass is literally two subharmonic register notes happening at the same time, the oral and the nasal cavity. This results in, as you’ve said, a level-3 subharmonic register bass or 2 octaves below the modal voice’s sung tone. Indicator actually made a long-awaited tutorial on his now-notorious vocal bass. It looks like it’s NOT the “third subharmonic of ‘throat bass’” like you said, but rather, it’s just the plain old 3rd level subharmonic of regular old subharmonic register. I’ve actually made a short little video going over what I consider to be the 5 families of vocal basses in beatboxing if you ever want to check out my ideas and knowledge I’ve learned on these basses, although I’m just a tiny-ass no-name beatboxer and bass scholar. (I categorize them by their anatomical parts, false chords & arrytenoid cartilage, epiglottal, hyoid bone & thyroid cartilage, vocal fry, and uvular basses, corresponding with throat, chest, evil, subharmonic register family, and starsky bass, respectively)
@alkmibeats21334 жыл бұрын
Indicator’s poly sub bass tutorial kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKDapYCmac-CZqM
@alkmibeats21334 жыл бұрын
Oh and I forgot to mention that the reason people often confuse this bass for vibration bass is because vibration bass and enel’s bass both have that tightened “khoomei” voice in common with each other as components/precursors. However, I would say vibration bass is the second subharmonic of the false folds’ bass by “harmonizing” the throat bass with the khoomei voice. Enel bass is the 1st level subharmonic register at the SAME TIME as the khoomei voice. So no throat bass and no false chords, all true vocal chords. People mistake these two basses for each other because they both use that khoomei voice, but if you listen to clear vibration bass like remix’s or inertia’s, it’s very different and much thicker and deeper than enel’s subharmonic register bass. And I love your one punch man reference btw XD
@alkmibeats21334 жыл бұрын
Also the reason enel may have unintentionally validated that false claim about vibration bass being the same thing as his bass. Remember, he is from Morocco, English is most likely not his first language so there may have been slight nuance losses due to this “lost-in-translation” possible effect. And when I learned how to do the unaspirated kick drum and bmg snare sounds, my bass beatboxing improved tremendously because of how I could layer polyrhythms and different basslines over percussive grooves, great tool to have in the budding beatboxer’s arsenal! Sorry for the long comments, but you probably won’t even read these anyways, so I thought, might as well just share what I know

In beatboxing is so common doing the kick and snare just with the pressure of your mouth while you are dropping any kind of bass through your nose so you can do it both at the same time ;)
@nicolasabrahan014 жыл бұрын
But the problem with this is that if you only use the pressure of you mouth to the kick and snare sound weaker than if you do it with the air of your lungs, and that is why in general to do a "bass beatbox" you use spit snare, cause it does not sound weak, like a pf snare for example
I know this is an older video but I think it’s be dope for you to react and analyze Altai throat singing.
