Good to give other crafters ideas going forward. I live in the UK and have been working with resins for 30 years. You can get other metallic powders including bronze, copper and brass. I quick tip for you with coating the inside of an enclosed mould. Instead of brushing it inside, pour the powder from the bag into the mould. Give the mould a few light taps, the pour the excess powder back into the bag. This ensures the powder will get into hidden nooks and crannies. After you have wire wooled the metallic versions, if you want to create some depth, you can brush a layer of an oil based paint onto the surface. When totally dry, wire wool again. The dark paint will be left in the crevices. The great reason for doing it the way you showed, is that is more cost effective. Some people mix huge amounts of powder into the resin, which is not necessary. Any way, have subscribed to your channel. Thanks. 😊

I really like the Aluminum powder and the Marble powder. I paint ceramics and can get a similar look to the Aluminum powder. I think it looks just like pewter. I just started trying resin about six months ago. I can't tell you just how important it is when you tell people to use protection against the resin and fumes. I also developed an allergy to resin after a couple of months. Of course I didn't pay much attention to using gloves and a respirator. I've never been allergic to anything before. Last month I had a terrible reaction and my entire face got a "chemical peel". It burned and was very itchy and uncomfortable as you know. My boyfriend suggested u get a new hobby, but I'm not easily deterred. I just sent for a respirator and gloves from Amazon and they should arrive tomorrow. I am so looking forward to crafting again. I love your videos. You are so personable and funny as well as informative. I have subscribed and if finances allow, I will become a member the beginning of March. I just want to say thank you for all your tutorials, tips, and tricks. Take care Charlene

Good vid. I work for a small company making hand cast resin chess sets and have been using marble and aluminum powder for years. Its great stuff!! We also use copper powder as the opposing side for the aluminum. You can get some great finishes on them with a bit of polishing compound.

**For those in the US, please read!** I've looked into it and the price to ship to the US is basically the same as the price of the powders themselves. Powders equate to about $40, including shipping is almost $80. This is not meant to discourage or encourage anyone; this is just an FYI.

A helpful hint from someone who learned the hard way. Please stop using heat or flames to remove bubbles from your resin! You can damage your molds irreparably. Instead, make yourself a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol. Spritz the surface of your project and, instantly the bubbles disappear! Rubbing alcohol also makes the BEST cleaner for your workspace and any spillage.

You can calculate it.
@ChibiChula
@ChibiChula 3 жыл бұрын
Easy way to calculate it is to fill you mold with water and pour it out into a measuring cup. You'll need to wait for your mold to dry after but if you keep each mold in a bag with a label (put some clear tape over the labels to keep them safe) you only have to do it once. Always add a tiny bit of extra resin in case of spills and keep a spare simple mold off to the side to use up any extra resin. Simple.

Don't know if you're aware but when pouring your resin as well as doing it slowly if you pour a really thin stream from as high as you can comfortably manage that'll also help to pop bubbles during the pour.
