A Taurus employee is one of the best gunsmiths in Brazil? That’s just sad. Taurus is a terrible company from a consumer perspective. If. Brand is gonna give you a bad experience it’s gonna belong to Taurus. Anyway, they make crap, ask for S&W and Beretta prices, and never fail to deliver crap. If they hadn’t taken a running Beretta line and refused to tel the employees it’s not Beretta’s show anymore they couldn’t even make a semi functional knockoff. Never forget the mellinium.

Back in 1990 I bought a used PT92c from a pawn shop for $250. Put about 10000 rds through it and had to send it in because of a barrel block that was getting battered. Taurus completely rebuilt the gun for me at no cost. I've got over 50k rnds through it with zero issues. I also have a CH85 (I think that's the model) 5 shot 38spl with a 2" barrel and a model 66 in 357. All have been flawless. I also have a very early production Berretta PT92 from my dad in mint condition. I'm more of a 1911 kind of guy but these are nice pistols

Bought a PT99 in 93', they were out of 92's, the 99 had an adjustable sight for $10, $275 out the door. Young sailors with fams have trouble fitting the Beretta in the budget. I was told by everyone back then that every part was interchangeable except the mag. Nothing ever broke and Taurus mags are less $$ so I have no 1st hand knowledge of either. 30+ years it eats everything reliably, fabulous pistol!

I worked in the hunting department in one of the big box outdoor stores for 10 years. We would have reps from different firearm companies come in periodically with new products. Taurus would bring new products out every year. They were very innovative in their development, for example, The Judge. I ask one of the reps why the Taurus 92 FS was so similar to the Beretta 92. His answer was almost verbatim to your episode. The only thing I would add is that Beretta didn’t want to expend time, money and manpower moving the machinery from Brazil back to Italy. So, to coin a phrase, “They made them an offer that they couldn’t refuse.” Sounds like an Italian thing! While many parts were interchangeable between the Taurus and Beretta, if I remember correctly, the magazines did not interchange. This is one of the best Taurus firearms.

This was my first handgun purchase back in 2008. Did a ton of research and didn't want to spend a ton of dough and this is what I chose. Great gun, very accurate, smooth action. It's basically a Baretta clone, as it was manufactured in the old Baretta factory in Brazil that Taurus purchased. Wish I still had it but traded it in for a Taurus 1911 .45 pistol. You have shown almost all of the superior features with your usual grace and clarity! A great gun is a joy to behold! I had one of the earliest ones from the early Nineties with no decocker, with a forged anodized aluminum frame and a blue steel slide. IT WAS SUPERB IN ALL WAYS! It never failed in any way with any ammo! The sights were small but just fine, and the pistol was accurate, pointing very naturally. The only changes from current Berettas is that the chrome lined bore was dispensed with as not needful for civilian service, and they put the manual safeties IN THE RIGHT PLACE and switching IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION like a civilian needs, not a policeman. I shot it a lot for a decade and it showed NO WEAR AT ALL as I simply kept it lubed!. I carried it IWB inside a tight wide belt and did not mind the weight at all. I changed it to a wrap-around finger-ridged textured rubber grip from Bianchi, and it seemed to melt into my hand! I wish I still had it, but had to trade it for rent in desperate times............................elsullo

Wow, this brings back memories. Bought one of the PT 92's in all blued back in 1985 when they were being introduced to the US. It was a excellent pistol and my very first handgun purchase. Well built and shot wonderfully. Never had FTF, stove pipes or any sort of malfunction AND it was inexpensive so right in a G.I.'s budget. In the 1990's I bought the Taurus PT 101 in .40 and the same exact finish and configuration as in your video except no rail underneath. Great gun as well with never an issue also. Some think their products suck and maybe some do but I've had nothing but a good experience with guns I've bought. Furthermore, I actually sold a S&W stainless .38 to go buy a stainless .357 Taurus which I was also happy with as the trigger was much smoother in DA than the S&W. May actually be buying a G3C soon as well.

I went in to buy it and the guy working the counter told me the guy that traded it in didn't want it because his brother killed himself with it. As I was wondering why this salesman would say this. I noticed the way he was looking at the gun and thought he wanted to buy it, so I told him I know it was lightly used and operates when needed. I sold it some years after and always regretted it. Many years ago I wanted a Beretta but they were out of my price range. I was barely able to afford the Taurus PT92 but was able to swing it. I enjoyed it for many years until I could finally afford a Beretta. While I do wish I had kept it I can't say I deeply regret getting rid of it. It was a great shooter and very reliable, but my Beretta is slightly smoother. However if anyone were looking at the PT92 I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
@jb60275 сағат бұрын
The PT-92 was popular with several shooters in my IPSC club in the 1980s. The single action feature was a plus, and there was a version with an adjustable rear sight which allowed the owners to fine tune their point of impact. Curiously, sitting through the many matches, waiting for one's turn to shoot, it became evident that the Taurus shooters were having noticeably fewer pistol malfunctions than the Beretta 92 shooters. There were even a couple of members who switched from Beretta to the Taurus PT-92 for better reliability. The Beretta 92 has come a long way since, but it would still never by my choice for a carry pistol.

The PT-99 (same pistol but with adjustable sights) which I bought back in the late 80s is still going strong today after around 5,000 rounds through it. No jams and not choosey about ammo, shoots any 9 mm I've fed it.

I'll have to dig mine out and see if that is what it is. Merry Christmas!

Love mine, don't shoot it much though, polished stainless like yours so cleaning is a bit of a pain. Finger prints constantly. 😅

Bought mine in '04 or so, thousands of rounds and not a single issue. Not my carry piece, or woods gun, but that's not why I bought it. It's my house gun in the nightstand, equipped with a light. One of the few guns I've never considered replacing.

I like the old Taurus revolvers (pre 90s), got a newer one around 2000 and out of the box the thing jammed on double action.

..I preferred the Taurus' thumb safety placement over the Beretta's

My first 9mm was a Taurus 92, never had a problem with it, I have several G2 and G3s and no problem with them either. The only Tarurus or Beretta I've ever had trouble with is the tip up bbl .22's and a Taurus revolver that kept shooting the screws out of itself and was out of time.

I own a pair of them. One has a lasermax green laser guide rod, and both have rubber hogue grips. I haven't had any problems out of either of them.

I have this gun. Very well done, no issues. One thing. It has relatively high sights so i must lever a point of aim up a little

I've had several Taurus pistols, and they have never failed to feed, extract, or fire. That being said I'm not a gunsmith, but not untrained. I have seen some very questionable engineering inside them.

Taurus makes excellent revolvers, plus the TX22 is great, as well

Used the Berreta during service. Spent over 10000 rounds through it. About 4 years after getting out. I purchased the Taurus for $400 when Berreta was around $650. I have about 1000 rounds through the Taurus. The design is just that good. It's hard to screw up such a good platform.

I bought one in 1991 or 1992 but liked the P220 better so I sold the 92 and bought the Sig. I have a fondness for the old Taurus 92. It was good. I never tried the Barretta version.
