The only required modification to convert an existing .308 Winchester-chambered rifle to 8.6mm Blackout is the replacement of the barrel. The 8.6 Blackout shares the same case head and bolt diameter as its parent cartridge, 6.5mm Creedmoor. All other components of a standard AR-10 rifle are compatible.

I made my 8.6 based on a AR-10 platform, 3 yrs ago. It really does not cost that much if you build one yourself and make your own ammo. I had a bunch of old Starline 6.5 creedmore brass that I no longer use for F-class. I could not show it as it was in a pistol form and did not want to advertise it. Mine is an 8inch version.
@VincitOmniaVeritas7Күн бұрын
Agreed. I’ve been thinking about upgrading my straight walled hunting rifles to a 8.6 Blackout and the ammo price isn’t that much of a factor as people believe. Hunters don’t shoot a whole lot anyway. I shot a grand total of 150 rounds of .44magnum in the last five years (once the rifle was zeroed and the load developed) and I have enough reloading components for another decade. Burning $3.000 on a rifle like this is the hardest bullet to bite, not paying $2.50 a round every ten days in my average (or much less, as I love to reload).

A 270 ish grain round at less than 1125 fps (subsonic) will make a 30-30 lever action seem flat shooting! More importantly is the sub moa accuracy even when “rainbowing” the round to target due to the 1 in 3 spin rate. I believe I watched a video where the company owner was firing sub 3” groups at 300 yards.

The rounds are expensive and so are the rifles that shoot them. I am curious to shoot it, just not sure if I need to add it to the collection. I am thinking a more reasonable shooter like the CMMG Banshee or Resolute in the Midnight Bronze like the MK10 10mm Banshee I own and it shoots flawlessly. so I may go with that or the longer 16.1 inch barrel for the Resolute so I can reach out and touch a much longer distance! Hmmm. I still have not figured out the reason for the subsonic since I shoot for pleasure but want the tools to perform as intended for use if the SHTF! Tough choices, but I will not pay $3200 for The Fix. God Bless America, Hickock 45 and the family and Merry Christmas to ALL Y’ALL!
