It's such a shame the shipping is $60 to the UK, I think that puts it a little out of my price range :(

I got this one early on and is one of my favorite POTA antennas. Quick to deploy as well. One note, make sure you guy it or put weights on the base. Ask me how I know. Let's just say I had to get some new whips!

Just a thought...Depending on the size and threads, it might be possible to use hamstick antennas in place of the telescopic elements to go to 40m and perhaps 75/80m. Just an idea for portable pota/soda, or emergency comms. Good luck, John, N8SGM.

Nice video. Just the facts, no bullshit. I like the antenna, with your VNA or a good SWR meter and some knowledge, you could tinker and most likely get it down to 1:1 on every band, with some annoyance I'll admit, but if your not prepared to field tune an antenna, then your not really into portable op's.....wires tossed up into tree's are an exception to this....

Take one of the 40m wires cut a wire to same length, then cut that wire in half. Affix one of each half to the collapsible whips when using the 20m set-up to get your 40m

It looks like a nice system, similar to the Buddipole I bought here in the States though without the need for the induction coils. The typical thread here for antennas is 3/8x24. Do you know if that is compatible at all with the metric M10 size this antenna uses?

DX Engineering and the tripod mast was a steal at 75 dollars it is very well made and solid! You won't find a better deal for a tripod and mast. What I did was run zip ties thought the pre made holes at the bottom of each foot and fashioned a loop that hangs off each of the feet to be able to anchor each leg down with the provided stakes! Everything about the antenna screams quality! I really do love it and you can by replacement whips for 35 dollars! Where else can you get a 17' telescopic whip for 35 dollars and it is laser engraved for each of the bands from 20 meters on down!

Hi great video can i buy that mast in the UK or where did you get it from . Thanks
I used two lengths of the rope, and in the center of each length I just looped around the mast. That gave me 4 guy ropes, placed at 12, 3, 6 and 9 oclock.. If that makes sense :-)

I always wanted something like this, but the JPC7 one. After some searching on Aliexpress, I found the telescopic whips for about 20$, so I ordered 2. I watched some videos about it, and they said that the side force can damage this telescopes, so instead of a dipole, I created a vertical antenna. The telescope is about 5m long, so it's perfect from 14 MHz. It's much faster and easier to deploy, and it needs some counterpoises from wire and a small tripod to stand on. In the field it works great, where there are no other objects like houses. I used it on a small terrace on my holiday.

Smart bit of kit... Question, could the 40m inverted-v and telescopic whips, tuned to say 20m be installed at the same time? Resulting in a duel band antenna, sort of like a fan or in this case X-dipole. Maybe worth a test when you're out portable for the YT content. All the best M3TJT
@TechMindsOfficial3 ай бұрын
I thought about that too. When I get a chance to take it to a location where I can put the 40m wires out I will definitely try this. Cheers
@chelegance3 ай бұрын
yes you can do it this way - however in this case you would need to slightly adjust the length of the telescopic whip as the system changed.

Antenna and tripod mast together are 12 pounds. That's 3x the weight of an MC-750, 2.5x the weight of an EFHW and a 30' pole, and about a zillion times the weight of an EFHW tossed over a tree. So, some kinds of portable yes. Other kinds, not so much.

Load coils,inductive resistance is not very good, because inductive resistance,like capacitive resistance,does not bring you closer to the resonant frequency.The resonant frequency is purely ohmic resistance.

Hello, A very good cheap antenna will be made from an alloy of nickel and copper,if you 62-65% by weight of nickel is brought to a boil by induction current,and then 38-35% of copper is added to the boiling mass of nickel and immediately reduces the boiling point of nickel to the boiling point of copper,and when you get a homogeneous mass,then cool it - you will get a good alloy for the antenna and for wires - doesn't make noise and doesn't rust. If you use an antenna made of such a heat-resistant alloy, then you can transmit a very clean signal over very long distances with a low transmitter power. To do this, you need to heat such an antenna with an additional power source connected to the heating element of the antenna so that the antenna for transmitting signals is well heated. Radio waves are electrons that, when hot, increase their speed and therefore travel much further in one second than with a cold transmitting antenna. When electrons (radio waves) become hot, they acquire the properties of both electrons and, at the same time, heat waves. That is, hot radio waves are both electrons and thermal waves, which have wavelengths from several nanometers to hundreds of billions of kilometers,depending on the state of hot temperature to which they are heated. Therefore, hot radio waves can easily and freely pass through concrete high-rise buildings and through granite mountains. If hot transmitting antennas made of such heat-resistant alloy are used in television and FM radio, the transmission of images and sound will be very clear over long distances. If you use hot antennas made of such a heat-resistant alloy in radio sports, then it will be almost impossible to determine where the signal is coming from, because the sound becomes very, very clear throughout the entire area of a very large city. Germanium-based ultra-high conductivity semiconductor: We bring tantalum to a boil (28 - 30%), reduce the boiling point of tantalum to the boiling point of lead and add lead (3 - 5%), then slightly reduce the boiling point of this mass to the boiling point of germanium and add germanium (the remaining percentage is 65 - 69%). When the resulting alloy becomes homogeneous, then upon cooling it we obtain a semiconductor based on germanium with ultra-high conductivity. Adding thallium 1% or bismuth 1% gives p- and n- conductivity. Michael Milyutin, Russia,Ukraine,Netherlands.
