This was the first video game that I got to choose as a teenager - one that wasn't just what my brothers picked out, but that I got to choose because it looked like a girl's video game. It introduced me to the Final Fantasy series which has become my favorite set of video games. So while I know some people have mixed feelings, this game has a special place in my heart. I was so WOWED by the opening scene lol.

Really good job to get this ending without a guide! The 100% ending has an extra epilogue scene that is really sweet, but it's just a continuation of this ending. The thing about getting this ending, even if it's not the 100% one, is that it means you invested time and actually cared about Yuna's journey, not just her destination, and your reward is this happy ending. Congrats!

This game is so great. It does an amazing job showing how places and people change in a post-war reconstruction era - or in this case post-Sin, which also means freedom from the religious rules they've been following for 1,000 years. The comedy is amazing and they balanced it great with the more serious moments, Paine is such a cool addition to the group, the combat is a lot of fun and I enjoyed the minigames more than the ones in X overall (though they did screw up Blitzball). And I love Yuna's characterisation in this game - in X she never had any plans for the future because she was sure she was gonna die, but now that she gets to live, she's not really sure what she wants so she tries modelling herself after the people closest to her, Rikku and Tidus (she even copies some of Tidus' mannerisms), but when things get serious or emotional you can definitely see the Yuna from X is still there. The only real fault I can give the game is how obscure and easily missable the triggers for certain events can be, making the game pretty difficult to 100% without a guide.

Much like our own dreams; it's impossible to truly imagine someone you never personally seen. So you take aspects of people you've met and create it. Tidus is dreamt in Shuyin's likeness. Every man, woman, and child are all echoes of people who truly lived in Zanarkand.

Nobody beat this game, because it was terrible. I remember being so excited for it, since FF10 was my favorite game of all time. So, I remember renting this on a Friday after school and I was stoked to spend all weekend playing it... I was absolutely wrecked when I realized how awful it was. To this day, this was the only game that I ever returned early; I was fucking devastated.

FFX-2 I think is a nice wrap-up to the FFX story. Where FFX is about Tidus searching for a way to save Yuna, FFX-2 is about Yuna searching for a way to reunite with Tidus. At some point, you gotta try out The Bouncer! That’s another Square Enix game, one that I feel is greatly underrated. Interestingly, the composers for FFX-2’s soundtrack also composed the soundtrack for The Bouncer.

What follows in the lengthy comment is one hell of a story. One of love, pain, sorrow, and how it connects to FFX-2 in the loosest way possible, but is also probably the most pivotal plot point in my entire life and it all revolves around one song from FFX-2's OST. If you read this story, just know as hard as it was to type it out.... @56:21 - Man talk about getting smacked with an emotional crowbar in the back of my head... The song playing behind the cutscene, Yuna's Ballad, was a song I had shared with somone extremely close to me... You see, I had a dream of me and her being intimate while this song played from my headphones while I was sleeping. I shared the dream and song with her after a few days of wondering if I should... Low and behold, it kinda became OUR song. We both had it saved and listened to it when we would sit together on the bus home from the group therapy where we met. So many times I remembered us sitting in the back, her head on my shoulder just listening together. I'll prepare you right now... if you thought the ending to FFX was a sad story ending, this one trumps it 10 fold... So after weeks of us more or less silently confirming we were together as a couple, she starts getting a ride there instead of riding on the bus. I wasn't worried, I mean we hadn't publicly let ANYONE besides ONE mutual friend know how we felt for one another. That mutual friend btw was always telling us that we should just get it over with and openly admit we were together, but we were afraid since the therapy we were in together was court ordered, which could lead to us both going to jail. [we both had separate drug abuse problems, but that was in the past, we each had over a year sober together] Anyways, 2-3 weeks go by and I'm a little heartbroken almost... I hadn't seen or heard from Danielle[the girl whom I was close with and we secretly were in love with one another] and didn't know what had happened or what was going on. It was if she disappeared and I began to get scared, REAL scared. Our mutual friend, Kayla finally let's me know a little info on what's up and what's going on. Another man who lived in the area she lived had more or less blackmailed her... She was stuck in the position of she had relapsed, and was fighting desperately to stay sober, and this guy had been the one to know about it since he was the one who got the drugs for her. He held it over her head as evidence and used as leverage to use her apartment as a squat spot to sell drugs which is where and why she was desperately trying to continue to stay clean... This all came to a head at 4 weeks after I had seen her last... Our mutual friend, Kayla, was letting Danielle stay at her place for a few days to escape the hell she was stuck in back home. Later that evening, Kayla had drove Dani to come and see me finally and God was I ecstatic! My heart melted knowing she was ok and safe! That night, and the following three days mark the final time I can remember being happy... That night, only known to us, me and Danielle finally got out night together. God it was just like the dream I had. So much so that anytime I think of or am reminded of this all, all the emotions come rushing forward... it's so hard to deal with even ten years later and counting... The next morning, Kayla came and picked Dani up from my place with the obvious as hell glow on us... She knew, but didn't say anything... Two days pass and I hear nothing, but that wasn't a surprise knowing now what was going on more. Now where she had relapsed once to deal with the hell back home, I had used later the next day because of how elated and happy I was knowing she was ok and because of what happened between us. Now me personally, withing like 2 hours of getting high, I knew I was gunna get caught, so I called immediately to let them know and I'd turn myself in the next day. That next day was the morning of that third day... Now, before I explain the bane of pain that haunts me forever... The night before turning myself, I contemplated using again that night since I knew I was going to jail anyways since I was turning myself in[only for 24 hours, but still] and as I scrolled through my phone to call an old dealer, I randomly stop on Dani's cell phone number. It was roughly 10:30-11p.m. at that exact moment. For WHATEVER reason in this universe, while paused on her number, I thought, "I should tell her what's going on now, instead of explaining after the fact." but, again, for WHATEVER reason, I didn't. My greatest regret was not doing so... The next morning, turning myself in as promised, it wasn't my parole officer who did my 24 hour jail detainer, it was Danielle's. This didn't strike me odd since there was a select group of parole officers who were involved in this county ran drug and alcohol therapy program. As he fills my paper work out and everything, he turns, looks at me with a pained expression, taking his glasses off and asks me, "How well do you know Daniellle [REDACTED]?" Not trying to let on anything, I replied, "Well pretty good, we've been coming here for almost a year and we've been in the same group to whole time and me, her, and Kayla from said group are all pretty close actually! I just haven't heard from her for a few days, that's all." Looking down, then backup at me with HIM crying, he let's out those haunting 5 words... "Well, she died last night..." You talk about slow motion earth shattering moments? My whole fucking life crumbled around me and me in a state of shock too frozen to do anything. I even remember being in the jail for those 24 hours and someone I knew was still there and he later told me he knew something was really wrong cause i had this same terrified 8 million mile stare the whole time I was there. And ho ho, you'd think it ends there? NOPE! Remember that phone call I didn't make I mentioned? Well, I had come to find out on my return to the drug program from my 24 hour vacation from her parole officer[he knew how close we were, he more or less knew all along] at roughly the EXACT same time I would've called her was just about 20 minutes before she died... Talk about even more guilt, haunting memories and PTSD, right? To this day and probably forever, I will sit and wonder, "What if I DID call that night?" Would she have answered? Would it have made a difference? Would she still be here and all the potentials of our futures together have happened or not? I'll sadly never know... ADDITION - There's a ghost story attached to this one too I can tell for anyone interested.... To put it bluntly, I did at least get one final visit from Dani one night which also besides being the most real paranormal thing which has ever happened to me, also helped me out so much more in the long run. Ever since the night this paranormal instance happened, I've been clean and sober since for 10 years plus now.

I’ve heard people rag on this game, but this was my favorite sequel of FF. One of the first games where I grounded everything up in all dresspheres and followed the guide to a T just for that 100% ending… Which I still haven’t gotten. Personally, FF7, X, and X-2 are games I can interchangeably put as my all-time favorites.

If you haven't already, I recommend looking up and watching the sad ending. When they fayth ask if you want to see Tidus again, you get a different ending when you say "it's better this way." It's an ending where Yuna gets closure and accepts that while she loves Tidus, she has to move on and it's really poignant for me or anyone who has experienced loss. I love this game. Yes, it has some weird moments, like massaging LeBlanc, but Yuna has such a good story about self discovery and acceptance I don't see how people can hate this game so strongly.

In terms of endings, there are many you can get. A lot of it depends on what you do and where you go at what times, what answers you give, and how you perform on side quests and mini-games. Bad Ending: After battling Shuyin and Vegnagun, the girls lose to him, and he is able to shoot Vegnagun, destroying Spira. This is essentially just a more exaggerated 'game over' sequence, but there is a cut scene showing the Canyons and the Calm Lands with lots of explosions. You will then hear "Game Over" music. What you need to do to see this is simply lose. The completion percentage doesn't matter. Normal Ending: It involves essentially everything you saw except the part where Tidus rematerializes off the coast of Besaid. What you need to do to see it is kill Shuyin/Vegnagun, and while you are walking on the farplane do NOT push the X button. Good Ending/Happy Ending: That is what you saw at the end. When you're on the farplane at the end beat that X button like it owes you money. Then select the "Yes" option. Perfect Ending: You get to watch everything in the Happy Ending and then after the camera zooms out and fades to black, piano music starts playing and you'll see that Tidus and Yuna are back in Zanarkand. Tidus explains to Yuna that he was recreated by the Fayths and so he's still is a dream, implying that he might disappear someday. However, he says everything will be alright if they take care of each other. Yuna hugs him and asks if that's what the Fayth told him. He responds saying that he came up with that idea himself. Yuna then pushes Tidus into the water. Tidus reiterates that they have to take care of each other. Yuna tells him that he won't disappear. Camera fades to black. In order to see this requires a 100% completion. This will involves a few replays, specifically to do certain things in the story line. It is impossible to do in a single playthrough. In New Game+ the Zanarkand Abes become a team you can play against. Beat them in an exhibition match, and you can trade for and recruit "Star Player", which happens to be Tidus. Also, Yuna is a good person to use as the Goalie. Training in Blitzball is key, also. If you don't do this right, your team will always suck. Here is the basic pattern to use in a nutshell. -Wait until BLK biorythm is down to do iron man (#2, END up) -Wait until CAT biorythm is down to do sandbagging (#3, ATK up) -Wait until END biorythm is down to do passing (#4, PAS up) -Wait until REC biorythm is down to do shooting (#5, SHT up) -Wait until RNG biorythm is down to do blocking (#6, BLK up) -Wait until PAS biorythm is down to do goalkeeping (#7, CAT up) -Wait until SHT biorythm is down to do receiving (#8, REC up) -Wait until ATK biorythm is down to do blocking (#9, RNG up) Only your Goalie needs CAT. That will be the dump stat for the rest of them. The Goalie's dump stat is SHT.

ffx and ffx-2 is one of the best in FF series imo. the love story, urghhh, just by watching this makes me cry. i remember when i played ffx-2 halfheartedly knowing, whats the point in making the sequel. then my friend said, make it 100%, u wont regret it.. i was lazy to 100% it but my friend keep on talking about it so yeah. im glad i finished this game properly. cried in front my friend when i did it and i dont regret it.

Haboob is a real name for intense dust storms in the desert, something I only found out when I lived in Phoenix for a few years and experienced a few of them. I still have the original PS2 version but never played all the way through it, and this is the first time I watched somebody else play. Thanks for playing through it so I don't have to! 🤣The cheesiness was a bit over the top for me back then, and honestly, FF11 being an MMO kind of soured my whole outlook on the series after that. I grew up with it, starting with FF1 on the NES, and it might sound kind of silly and dramatic now, but at the time it felt like a betrayal. So yeah, I haven't beaten any of the later Final Fantasy games after FFX (though I have gone back to older releases on occasion since then). Of course some of that too is that I'm getting old and don't have as much time to play. My kids always kick me off the PS4 so they can play. 🤣

FFX-2 was about a decade too early. I think a lot of people just wrote it off cause it was super girly. I guess its still like that for a lot of people but at least nowadays there are a lot of people online who'd love it. Plus even though its cutesy on the surface it gets really deep when you go through the story especially the optional content as you saw. And the interactions are really organic in a weird kind of way. So the localization team absolutely killed it. Theres a theory that X takes place in the same universe as 7 but way earlier due to shinra having the same name as the company from 7 and that cutscene where he talks about a technology using the life force of the planet. And i think if you look on the map its a similar geography to the world map of 7. Last mission has even more great cutscenes. You might be better off just watching the cutscenes on stream from a youtube video for a couple reasons. Firstly you might dislike the gameplay. Its sort of a roguelike pokemon mystery dungeon style. Secondly the cutscenes in the original ps2 international version change depending on what ending you got. In the HD remaster they only use the bad end cutscenes. So yuna talks about finding somebody else and moving on from tidus. Stuff like that. But it is a really kind of sad but great experience if you like yuna, rikku and paine.

Source the game Dev itself: FF7 took place after FF10, So, in FF10, Shinra manage to make a device (Mako Reactor) that can take energy from the planet (Spira). This eventually causes the planet Spira to die in the future. As Spira is dying, the inhabitants manage to create a migration ship that allow them to migrate to a new planet (Which is FF7's planet, Terra). Within it's immigrant is Shinra family itself. The immigrants decided to seal the technologies for good, but the Shinra family secretly kept the technology, which eventually allow them to create the conglomerate group Shinra corp. Power and Money is just too tempting, when there is no religion (Yu Yevon) as their moral compass. Also need to mention that, the al-bhed technologies were forbidden by Yu Yevon's teaching for a good reason. And to mention, Terra (FF7 planet) has its own native human species which is later called "The Ancients". And yes, the immigrants from Spira + Jenova incident push "the Ancients" to extinction.

My vague understanding is that there's a novel of the events past X-2, and from what I've briefly seen from plot descriptions on the wiki I'm very okay with those ideas not developing further, heh

@@bbouncy12 so as of 2021 the director of FF7R had conformed that a story for FFX3 was in production but not complete and that FF7R was the priority. So if any game does come out it would be post FF7R project meaning probably like 2027 AT LEAST so plenty will change and get revised etc

lol in the first act tidus gets angry cos Yuna brakes up with him for dumb girl reasons, He kicks a blitzball that is actually a 1000 year old bomb and yeets himself out of the story of X-3, in a perma-death situation, that is very much cannon, the story of x-3 is basically Yuna feeling sorry for herself for being a bad girlfriend, its pretty accepted among the community that x-3 should Not be a thing.

For all it's faults, and how fan service really encoiled the game. X-2 isn't the worst sequel, it does a good job on capturing the sort of revolution the world would go through. Years of fearful oppression lost as Sin, and traditions are all destroyed. The aeons put to rest, the fayth resting, and all those lessons of the past reduced to figments of a past gone. Now? The world can embrace machina and machinery. It can grow and change, able to defend itself. But also open up to new dangers such as machina being used for war. The people and culture had all changed in ways unknown, and X-2 does a really good job on showing how everyone changed following the events of FFX. How Yuna had changed and lives the life she was so ready to sacrifice for all of Spira. Now, my main problems with the game was the strict 3 characters. The garment grid allows job swapping, but also feels cheesy as Yuna, Rikku, and Paine are these talented people purely by the dress spheres they find. I wish they had more characters to fight alongside with as they try to unravel the past. The ending also feels a bit backwards; as the entire game's story is learning how to let go of the past. Yuna is chasing a ghost of Tidus, following spheres of Shuyin and Lenne, how resonant the two are to her own story. The effort to make Shuyin let go of his death and able to move forward.. Meanwhile Yuna gets Tidus back, completely ignoring what sacrifice meant. I found the "sad" ending where Yuna rejects Tidus's return as the proper ending. Learning to let go that for what short time she had with Tidus, he will never be gone for as long as she keeps him close to her heart. Learning to finally let go of what she lost to embrace the life Tidus fought so hard to preserve.

There are a lot of reasons people don't like this game. For me Unless they brought back Auron I was never going to be completely happy. I was not able to get completely finished with the game knowing he wasn't coming back. So this is the first time I have seen this ending I am glad at least Tidus actually really came back

The HD remaster of X had to redo all the facial animations since they lost the original source code for it. So the faces in X look worse now than they did on the PS2. X2's facial animations were preserved, and it was just better because it was made two years after X.

"how can people dislike this game?" I dislike it because the ending for FFX was perfect imo. I don't like that every story that exists always has to have a happy ending. I would not even call the ending of FFX a bad ending, just bitter-sweet but still mostly good for most of the people in Spira. And yeah, X-2 feels totally unnecessary and the story is - for the most part - pretty dumb. But to each their own I guess :)

I love it because it's different to a lot of other RPGs of the era, even even today - where most are about the destruction of the world, this one is about a world building itself back from destruction and getting to see where everyone ends up and does with their lives after realising they can finally _live_ is really cool. It's a wonderful game for the messages in it too, and the story following Yuna growing to accept the loses she endured and moving forward with her life was really not something games had touched on - living after loss and the realism of remembering the person/s who were missing, learning to love living again. God, it's such a gem. I love it more than X, tbh.

A thing about x 2 though, you can choose to keep X1s ending. Choose to accept closure and be done with it, which is hwy I think 2 does strike a balance with respecting X1s ending OR giving a new choice.
