I love watching things come together on the cottage! On a side note: perhaps the gates from the film set could be used as decorative pieces for wedding banquets or receptions, if set together with hinges and draped with the bride’s choice of flowers and swooping pieces of floaty chiffon and fairy-lights.

The taps in the other tub appeared to match the ones in the sink perfectly. Also, here in the states, we have a cleaning product called Barkeeper's Friend. It's a non-abrasive powder that removes stains without fail.

Exciting to see progress. What is going to happen to protect the window in the bathrooms? Our little house in West Michigan had a window above the tub (no shower) in our older house. I say older, it was built in about 1948. :-) But the bathroom window did not like the moisture in the room and became very unhappy. End of story. The sink in our old bathroom had a high back to it like a facia and the taps went thru the high back, we never could find new fixtures for that sink. Keep the old ones if they work. I noticed the gates before Luc mentioned them. They are very nice, they should be used. Our old tub was porcelain covered cast iron. It was large, prolly built in 1948 and lovely. They hold heat like nobody's business. Nicole Curtis, Rehab Addict, is a wonderful restoration loving House Flipper who is an expert at cleaning and restoring old tubs, sinks, etc.

It just goes to show how wonderful up cycling antique things can be. I don't think you can find craftsmanship like this today where you use a bathtub or a sink for 50+ years and probably spent another 30 years in a barn and can be cleaned up and look almost like new. The cottage looks amazing and I'm definitely going to stay there next time I'm in the UK. It's not going to happen for a few years but it will happen.

So happy to see the Fairytale Cottage coming along so wonderfully! What a savings to find both a bathtub and sink in storage that can be used in the cottage (although Luke wants to snag on the sink for your bathroom). Maybe a good ole switcheroo if your current sink in your bathroom at Mapperton House is salvageable? As both bathroom and kitchen renovations can be notoriously expensive, I’m very glad to see that both you and Luke appear to be really thrifty and reuse, recycle and refurbish items whenever you can. Julie, please don’t ever change. Your light and spirit shine bright and it’s your willingness to roll up your sleeves and get down to the business of making things happen that makes Mapperton Live so much fun to watch. You & Luke make a great team and if anyone can make Mapperton a continued success, it’s you two. Can’t wait to see the next step in the progress of the cottage renovation. I’ve heard the mention of AirBnB, but would you ever consider renting the cottage long term, ie if someone wanted to take a 6 month sabbatical? Just curious.

A friend of mine used old sanitaryware for his new build - nightmare - what you save on buying brand new, you spend on plumbers' time. The new brassware doesn't fit with it. I like the old look and have lots of old and antique furniture but kept to the new with my new house. Wanted mixer taps and thermostatic shower controls as well. Cast iron baths are a huge heat sink as well so take more hot water to heat up and keep hot. Metal plugs on vintage baths fall in the bath and chip the enamel vs an integral plug on modern sanitaryware.

Not only I like to see the work done on all of your series, the music as back ground to it all is very pleasant to hear. I lived in Italy in the 1990s for 7 years, I had originally planned to be there for a three month period instead founded work as a designer in a architect firm. Reentering in possession of my parents home wear I was born, I was left with the task to restore our home. One of my inspiration guide wear not the architect that I dealt with but "English Country Gardens" By Ethel Clark & Clay Perry. I was 2 hour drive from Rome, 1 hour from Naples and 45 minutes from Termoli on the Adriatic coast with beautiful beaches. I must say the mountains and hills are my favorite places to be and in Italy one get the impression to be in a ever green one Eden. In the mountainous region of Molise wear Campobasso the local commercial town was at 7km distance. After 7 years of a wonderful experience decided to go back to Canada wear I'm now savoring every moment of your every days experiences, be down or up. They are worth the effort and creating memories. Two living the same experience is even better, Cheers🍾

I agree that the old barn where you found the bathtub would make wonderful accommodations - the beams are fantastic. Julie, listen to Luke about the bathroom fixtures for the Fairy Tale Cottage - he knows quality when he sees it. The sink with the original taps looks amazing! Personally, Id rather have a bit of a stain in an original bathroom fixture than have it refinished. It gives it character. It takes time to create these kinds of surfaces - you can't fake them! But I have to say, I think it's a big mistake to put up that wall to create the 2 bathrooms in the little cottage. I know you want each bedroom to have an ensuite, but to block that pretty window is a crime. Surely, the architect could have thought of a better solution than that... All in all, though, you are doing a fantastic job.

You went to to the bath shop, and they only had a few styles? Don't get me wrong, The faucets you looked at were most likely from Perrin & Rowe. Yes, this is the classic that every American wants.... and yes many brand new Land Rover Defenders for us to drive on the bark mulch at the mall here. LOLOLOL I am please you are repurposing the tub and the sink, but aren't you worried that the old faucets are going to fail soon, since they ended up in the storage barn 10 years ago? (I vote to replace the faucets... you won't get the call from your Air B&B guest at 2:30 AM on Christmas Eve? Well done both of you!!
