You can measure airflow very cheaply by holding a glass measuring cup upside down in your tank over your air stone. Just measure cups or milliliters per minute.

I am not at that level yet, I use smaller very quiet pumps, but one day I will need a larger capacity pump! Happy New Year to you and your ever patient wife Zenzo, you have given so much information over this last year that I feel I have to support you in Patreon so I feel better about using it. Take care and have the best decade ever!

just installed a Jehmco linear piston a couple months ago. got it for $180 and it is almost silent, the only think i hear in my fish room now is bubbles:) it's rated for around 25 tanks.

I use Moving Blankets (harbor freight carries them cheap) for easy on the job sound treatment. Similar to sound blankets, but much cheaper. Another cool option is a bit DIY, but can be a little cooler and looks nicer. That's DIY Acoustic panels. You can make them out of used towels, and cover them with fabric (could even get custom fabric made if you really wanted, or just use some solid color or prints) and they work really well.

Thanks for the info Zenzo, no worries on the talking too much, it’s not like you are talking to filling the time but I’ll rather hear your opinions and thoughts so I can make less mistakes. Hopefully one day I can setup my garage fish room.

The constant hum of central pump systems can get annoying. The Fujimac was noticeably quieter and would be worth a few extra bucks a month to me. Thanks Zenzo and Happy New Year.

I can only find the 100ltr per hr. It says it runs on 45 watts. I found it on ebay. Way expensive though. Nearly $400 au. Thanks Zenzo. It looks a great air pump and over 1million have been sold.

Happy New year 🎉 how do you calculate how much pump / air you need to run aquarium room? Rick
@StevePolandAquatics5 жыл бұрын
Go linear piston. The equivalent size is only like $200 and I promise it will be the best money you've ever spent on that fishroom.

Happy New Year Zenzo! You should have used a Jehmco Linear Piston Air Compressor. I've been running an LPH26 for a few years now and I can't even hear a hum, it's super quiet. Thanks for sharing the video! Isn't the watts listed on the pumps?
@TazawaTanks5 жыл бұрын
The watts isn’t listed on the Jehmco. Only on my FujiMac. Happy New Year!

Hello can u please answer this comment? I just got a tank on Christmas I want to set it up but Ik u need to let bacteria grow and stuff. So what if I just used tap water put some cheap fish such as gold fish in there with the filter on for a month or two, then took out the gold fish. Would it be safe to start adding the fish I want for my 15 gallon aquarium?

Yes & no.... if you fill the tank with tap, you still want to wait a good 24/48 hours before adding anything living if you don't use some kind of water additive(s) to get that chlorine & fluoride out. Feeder fish are often used, but I always ask people what they plan to do with those feeders when they're done building up that bacteria in the tank. Yes, they'll survive most ponds & streams, but carp (like koi & goldfish) can quickly become an invasive species. Love em or hate em, it's just cruel to flush them & I'd rather hear a hungry iguana or paranah pack gobbled them up than that. Just my opinion. Your best bet, however, would be get a dirty sponge from a fellow fishkeeper that doesn't keep frogs or turtles due to salmonella risks (especially if you plan to keep frogs or turtles). You could always ask them to throw your sponge(s) in their filter system if they can't spare one. A day or two later, you got a good starter colony of bacteria. By then, your tap should be free of chlorine & fluoride. See how I connected those two there?😏Almost impressed myself for a sec...🤣
@TazawaTanks5 жыл бұрын
Check to see if your area uses chloramine instead of chlorine. Chloramine is becoming much more common in the U.S. and it will not gas off and disappear if left alone. You will need to use a dechlorinator.

Happy new year bro. Ive been looking for some kind of middle range punp. i run two box filters and a lif tube for flow in my 55 and i like a lot of power but need it to be quiet sense the tank is at the foot of my bed. this i think is more than i need but gives me another brand to look into. and have you thought about hooking up a flow meter inline with your PVC and a solenoid to that? could set it up where both pumps are connected to the airline and have the flow valve connected to the one that is currently in use. if the flow of air stops the solenoid kicks on the other pump automatically.

I do have one question I plan on having about 4 tanks (29gal-75gal) in my living room what would the best and affordable air pump to use? I would like to just use one air pump for all the tanks. Yea I am switching to sponge filters?

Any decent air pump would be fine. Aqua Top is a good choice.

“I need to put it down, it’s heavy.” - you should work out more. Suggestion if you wish to quiet the “too much talking “ complainers: after you show the air pumps in the video; cut, and go to scene two... in YOUR chair! You sitting in front of those tanks so we can all gaze at them while you talk about whatever. Might I suggest a martini or whatever your favorite drink is? Hmmmmm, things with fruit, straws and umbrellas are very fish themed. Let that be your “I’m gonna talk” studio. For special occasions (um... a certain fish laid eggs) wear a suit. Everyone loves looking at those tanks, so use them as a back drop. I’ll keep watching either way, but that’s only to see if your following MY workout tips - 10 sets of 15 reps with an air pump... the small Tetra whisper. Happy New Year!
