THE REDFIELD RATIO! 😆 I Learnt again! Great video! EDIT: I always wanted to add that your editing time line must be absolutely insane! You have really sharp skills!

Good video, Justin. Balance is def key 🙂. (ngl, I got a little confused during the ratio part 😅) Hope you have a nice weekend! 🙂👍
@TropiscapeAquatics10 ай бұрын
Yeah, it can get a little complicated, but it's not something to stress about or even care about really. Basically, the ratio is that every 16 Nitrogen molecules, there should be 1 Phosphorus molecule. Sorry for the lacklustre explanation 😅
@TarasTankFriends10 ай бұрын
@@TropiscapeAquatics it wasn't lackluster, I'm just easily confused by equations 😂. You did a fine job!

Ngl ever since i don't do shit to my algae they left, i think it got bored of me not caring lol. 🍷😑 or my tank is mature now idk. Update of my flowering echinodorus, they did turn to baby plant, took 1 month. Now planning to plant them emersed. Maybe my old fish bowl 🤔
@TropiscapeAquatics10 ай бұрын
Your tank has found tank enlightenment! lol That's incredible that you were able to get baby plants! Hopefully, they can safely make the switch to emersed growth.

Also, an update on what I'm doing with my empty tank. I figured out what I'm doing with it, but I cannot share it, as it's gonna be something special/different. It'll still be used as an aquarium though.

The ultimate algae killer is a snail. Doesn't work ? ADD MORE SNAILS !
@TropiscapeAquatics10 ай бұрын
I disagree. There are some algae that snails won't eat. Blue-green algae/cyanobacteria being one of them, which I mentioned in the video. Furthermore, it also depends on the species of snails. For example, nerites being one of the only species to consume greed spot algae and horned nerites/clithon corona with black beard algae. Throwing more snails in will not solve the underlying issue. It's akin to putting a bandage on a wound. Bandages assist in preventing any further infection and allow the wound to fully heal, but it's not the reason why the wound heals. IMO, in order to control algae, we need to understand how it even grows in the first place. That way, we know how to circumvent it with the appropriate methods. Imbalanced nutrients are one of these causes, which is what the Redfield Ratio tries to solve but ultimately fails as explained.

@@TropiscapeAquatics OMG bro, what in hell are you doing to your aquarium that gets it so infected ? 🤢🤮🤮
@TropiscapeAquatics10 ай бұрын
@@mr.octopus6972 Incorrect technique, simple mistakes, and just experimenting with different techniques and methods. Also, there are some types of algae, such as Green Dust Algae, that should be grown out until there's a thick layer where it is then prompted to be removed with manual tools such as a scrapper. Otherwise, GBA particles will simply float in the water and stick to hard surfaces again if the root cause is not addressed

@@TropiscapeAquatics Maybe ... I don't know ... because my SNAILS don't let them grow 😉

@@mr.octopus6972 Can't always credit snails. You also put in the work to balance the tank when it comes to lighting, nutrients, and CO2 (if you're using it). You gotta give yourself some credit as well!
