We have one in the family, same exact gun. Light, easy to carry, effective. I like it a lot.

Great job! I love stories about simple guns I grew up with. Back in the day, they did about anything we asked them to do.

Great video, brother. My granddad passed down to me a very old stevens single shot 410 that he used to use for rabbits, squirrels, and dove. Needless to say, it will continue to see use for a long time because of all the reasons you stated.

Think its a matter of where you are at. Make no mistake, a shotgun is a handy thing, but it does not work for all applications. You come here to Namibia, you go down south or far west, your shots are going to be out to 400 yards. Where I am at in the central Bushveld 150 yards or less is often the case. Thing is here many of the animals we often hunt are large and tough. Kudu, Oryx, wildebees and Eland. A big Eland bull runs 2000 pounds with heavy thick bones. A slug can take one, but I would not bet on it. Medium to heavy rifles are what is used. Within its limitations you cant beat a shotgun, and we often use one as a truck gun here on the farm I work on, but my 308 or my uncles 8 x 57 are the hunting guns.
