If you go on a beach vacation in the U.S., it’s not a matter of if you will hear Margaritaville, it’s a matter of how many times you will hear Margaritaaville. It’s a great song!

Come Monday was the song that turned me onto Jimmy Buffet in the 70's. Next I suppose was Son of a son of a Sailor. Changes in Latitude and changes in Attitudes. So many.

So sad to hear of Jimmy Buffett's recent passing. He was a great singer-songwriter, musician & actor. His songs had such a laid back island feel to them. I had a couple of his albums. He had a lot of hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Son Of Son Of A Sailor", "Come Monday", "Fins", “He Went To Paris”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise”, “One Particular Harbor”, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, "A Pirate Looks At Forty", “Volcano”, “Boat Drinks”, “Pencil Thin Mustache” etc.

I live on a beach town, very strong Buffett vibes around here!! (Parrot Heads)....I went to a Christmas Boat parade several yrs ago, and there was a band under the starlight night...playing traditional Christmas songs, and encouraging the audience to join in...a few people did, and even more began to wander away ( as in "party over )...suddenly the ban started playing and singing Margaritaville......EVERYONE joined in the singing!!! Big smiles all around!! That's what Jimmy did. best..big smiles all around!

If you ever get a chance to visit a Magaritaville you've gotta go. It's a blast and family-friendly too. There's a giant blender next to the ceiling, and periodically a 'hurricane' blows in to fill it. It's just a hoot, so much fun and great food too!

He played the snack bar at my college when he was just starting out. No records yet. No real concerts yet. No band yet. But he was great -- just Jimmy & a guitar. "Come Moonday" came out a few years later, and he was off and running. I recommend "A Pirate Looks at Forty." He was a really great guy. I'm sad that he's gone.

At the end of the "It's 5 o'clock Somewhere" song, Jimmy Buffett asks Alan Jackson if he's been to Margaritaville and then says to him "I've seen your boat there". 😄 And yes, please react to Come Monday. The best version is the video where Jimmy Buffett tells a bit of history of what you will be seeing in the video. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnyqqJKep9GUhbs

I went on a carnival cruise. We stopped in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. This was in 2009. This is the first time that I have heard this song and not immediately switched it since I got off of that awesome boat. That had a serious case of viral Margaritaville. I heard this damn song 18 times a day every day for 7 days straight

I have followed Jimmy's music since the early 1970s. He never once failed to entertain. Sadly he is now gone. A victim of skin cancer. His final song, "Bubbles Up" is, pretty much, Jimmy summing up his life. It is possibly the best song he ever wrote. RIP JB - Fins up! - Bubbles up! 🦈🫧

To me this song is another case of the instrumental masking the true content of the song by being upbeat, if you take the time to actually listen to the lyrics and analyze them this song is really about a man turning to alcoholism to get over a relationship he messed up.

This is definitely not a happy song. Go back and really listen to the lyrics. It’s about a man who is depressed and turning to alcohol to hide the pain of a failed relationship.
