First time for me yesterday. The crowd were welcoming, everyone was polite and the players stopped fighting as soon as the klaxon sounded. There was a real sense of community throughout. Children were encouraged to kick the ball before the game ramped up at the end. Yes it can be viewed as moronic violence but also a bizarre tradition that allows some steam to be let off. Everyone attending or playing knows what they are in for so as long as the violence stays in check it’s a really fun day. Important to note that the entire game including all spectators stopped for a minute silence for a former player.
