Here's my top 5 favourite Elvis Albums: 1. Elvis is back!, 1960 with a stunning "when it rains it really pours" With its fiery sax solo over 2 choruses 2. Elvis Presley, 1956 3.I'm 10.000 years old, 1971 4. in Memphis, 1969 5. Jailhouse Rock,1958 (Bootleg only)

I don’t think When It Rains It Really Pours was on Elvis Is Back. That was a 1950s recording. Elvis Is Back! was all recorded in 1960.

@@murraypassarieu9115 Sorry, you're right. I meant the bluesy "Reconsider me. When it rains it really pours was recorded 1957 but only released in 1965 on the Elvis for Everyone LP. What an incongruous mixture: a brilliant Blues amongst.... 😁

It is a really funny book, if you can find it. I regret getting rid of it years ago.

When I was in Memphis I never got around to Graceland, but I did manage to see the Stax Museum of Soul Music, originally the site of The Stax Records recording studio where all their classic recordings were made (just pick yourself up the biggest multi-disc box set compilation of Stax recordings you can find, you won’t regret one second of it), it’s now an excellent, very comprehensive museum dedicated to the entire history of Soul music, not just Stax recordings. If you missed it when you were in Memphis I highly recommend checking it out if you ever get back there. Plus, it has on display Issac Hayes’ amazingly pimped-out Cadillac that totally blows the doors off anything in Elvis’s garage.

On our trip, I was also able to go to Stax and to Sun Studios. All of it was really special. And yes, Isaac Hayes' Cadillac is tremendous!

Great episode. Would only add the iconic photo of the King in full regalia shaking hands with Nixon in the White House after presenting him a pistol while asking for a DEA badge. (He got a “Jr’ facsimile.)

That is one of the all time great photos. Two great Americans, Elvis and Nixon.

There were also more volumes released on bootlegs with titles like Having More Fun With Elvis On Stage. Some were hilarious.

You know i do somewhat regret not checking out Graceland when i was in Memphis for a weekend. I did make it to Stax and Sun. Then i got lucky and an employee at Ardent Studios (Big Star) gave me a tour. Also drove over to the Lorraine Motel - creepy. Then to satisfy another morbid curiosity i took in the sight where Jeff Buckley drowned near Mud Island, downtown. I really wanna pick up From Elvis In Memphis (1969)

Graceland is definitely worth the visit. I also went to Stax and Sun, loved those as well. I did not get over to Ardent, although I really wanted to. How was that? Also did the Lorraine and the excellent Civil Rights Museum.

@@amitytracks Ardent was thrilling because i dont believe it was open to the public at the time. But I parked my car on Madison Ave and stared at it for a few minutes like "well, there it is". Then I noticed somebody walking toward it so jumped outta the car and jogged over before he walked in, told him how much I loved the old Big Star records. He gave me an extensive tour. I imagined Alex Chilton roaming those halls. I got to see the rooms where they recorded those songs. The highlight of my stay there

First, the concept was ingenious, because it was never done before, and The Colonial, always thinking, came up with a profitable concept, the album was originally released on The Colonials own "BOXCAR" label, and is quite valuable if you have the original first edition, and very collectable. RCA then entered into the arena and copied the original BOXCAR release, and reissued it, all of the releases clearly stated "A TALKING ALBUM ONLY", so no one was ever deceived thinking it was something other than "A TALKING ALBUM ONLY", this is a positive review and very enjoyable, even if some of the facts that are important was left out, either by choice or lack of any knowledge of the release, either way, enjoyable, Rock On!!

Hi, im from n.ireland and about 10 years ago my wife and I did a trip to Memphis, Nashville and New York. Was an amazing holiday and Graceland was one of the highlights. Your photos brought back memories, thanks! Btw, I have a Tom Waits live album - Glitter And Doom, that came with a bonus cd of Waits' stories and jokes, that he would tell between songs. Its really entertaining listen, with a few laugh out loud moments (for me anyways). I'm wondering now if Waits knew about the Presley album! Stuart.

Might be one of the worst Elvis albums. Unsure about all time worst album. There is no context to it, no sense to some of the dialogue, just a mish-mash. Although originally Parkers idea, then an RCA release, this suggests that RCA didn't always have Elvis' best interests at heart, especially some of those later Camden compilations. What is nice about the album is the sleeve, great cover front and back, with the consistent Elvis block typeface RCA was using at the time.

I have never in over 40 years heard anyone say that this album is "the worst album ever made". And if ever it was uttered it was uttered by an idiot wearing Elvis garb. I have actually listened to this album and found it very entertaining Elvis had a great sense of humour. I think it's testimony to how great he was as an entertainer that he could do the one thing his contemporaries couldn't do and that was release a talking album.

Each to his own, I am sure there are some people who do enjoy this album. Check out that book I mention in the video, it's a fun book. They do give this record the award of Worst Album Ever. Like I said, I do like Elvis and his music quite a bit. I hope that came through as well.

I didn't mind the album at all. A very unique album. There are other Elvis albums, or recordings, Elvis Sails I think is one that is a talking record. There are many Elvis clips in that album, that tells me the whole concert is recorded. Wonder where all the tapes are???
