A persons politics is about as personal as it gets. It’s speaks to your values as a human. So you cannot spit on his political songs and praise his personal songs. Politics is personal.

Thanks for covering JB. Surprised You choose The Night Inside Me from The Naked Ride Home. I much prefer Don’t you wanna be there and Casino Nation, which is a song that forecast the mess that the USA finds itself in now in 2024.

After Outside I heard "no more 90s albums in here", skipped. Glad that Outside made it in the top tho. I think Black Tie, Outside, Earthling, Hours, Heathen, Reality are absolutely sublime

Roky Ericksons solo stuff is great. As far as the 13th floor elevators I could never get past that jug, it's like nails on a chalk board. If there was a way they could do a recording and erase or edit that jug out I'd probably like it.

I agree. Funny part is, you can definitely see how the acid affected the way they thought, because who the hell says gee a jug with a mic right on it with me blowing on it would sound good? Lol he wrote a lot of lyrics.

Blonde on blonde has a lot of dumb, superficial imagery. The chord structures are pop. Very simplistic pop. The opposite of Bringing it Back Home which has the profound It's All Right Ma and Gates of Eden. Blonde on Blonde has some fun moments, but I get the joke early. Clearly, Visions of Johanna and Sad Eyed Lady are the exceptions that prove the rule. Blood on the Tracks is a great batch of tragic love balads. I don't know how you could compare that with all the fascinating poetry of Freewheeling, The Times are Changing, and Bringing it all back home.

Jackson is himself! Very particular with writing his music! I love everything! It's probably where he was in life! His voice has endured! I recently had the. Pleasure of seeing him for two nights. In Vegas. He's truly gifted !!

The only reason I bought that box set back in ‘72 was for the Quicksilver Messenger Service tracks (unfortunately this was the Return Of Dino Valenti era…but, I suffered through it)

The Plane! My biggest fans! 😜You miss the boat on Crown of Creation(MHO): all good stuff. some great. And is see arguably the pop edge of SP may swing one to that obvious choice, but you clearly see the greatness o Baxters'. But the studio albums SP thru Volunteers are all great and i guess you don't argue that point. Thanks for a fun listen. BTW should not underrate Spencer's contribution to Spare Change and every record he played on. He brought that hard-to-place jazz feel to it all, and Jorma and Jack saw in retro it was not the best choice to push him out (there were other reasons, too, i hear) Thanks again

Love Undercover. I actually like Bridges to Babylon more than Voodoo Lounge (although there's some good songs on it). Goats Head Soup is a definite top 10 for me.

Not my favorite Police album. The synthesizers and horns make the sound weak. I never liked the back up singers when they played live either. Glad they took them out during the reunion tour.

I’ve got original copies of some of his albums, the debut through to Tonight’s The Night, I’d love to seek out the originals and maybe find a few represses for stuff that’s a little harder to find. I at least would like originals of all the 60’s and 70’s stuff lol.

I would consider myself a new fan of Neil’s. I’ve always liked a few songs from before, when I was a kid. But recently I started to really go deep into his stuff. So far I’ve heard all three Buffalo Springfield albums, Deja Vu/CSNY, and everything from his debut to Rust Never Sleeps. And I truly love all of it. I’ve listened to Homegrown, Hitchhiker and Chrome Dreams, loved those as well. And a few days ago I finally received the first archives box set, the long box edition on Blu Ray. Truly am blown away by that, the quality of the content is outstanding. These sets are growing more expensive but I feel I’m becoming that big of a fan where theses sets are going to be appreciated.! I need volume 2 next.!

Hey, have you ever heard of Craig Smith/Maitreya Kali? He was a classic Acid Casualty, a la Roky Erickson and Skip Spence. You should check out his album “Apache-Inca” - really good music. Sounds a lot like Skip Spence’s Oar - another good forgotten album.

Not a big fan of Blonde on Blonde me neither so glad at least someone agrees. At large it sounds a bit silly and manneristic, far from the mean delivery on the previous album.

Con tutto il rispetto - it's your ranking, not mine -, Abacab, Invisible Touch (one of my three worst of their albums) and Genesis / Mama , cannot be inserted behind Wind , Trespass and And Then There too. Agree with you that Abacab is the best of the Pop era. Thank you for your rating.

Ahh …. Yes, the Bicentennial Year. I was 14 when so many of those legendary albums came out. At that time, I was rather oblivious to some of the band names who had released quality material. Rush, Genesis and Alan Parsons to name a few. Had no clue yet who they were, but I sure did enjoy what I was hearing on the radio from those bands. Obviously, I’m a big prog head, but ‘76 was the year I became attached to that genre. And I’m glad you shed significant light on ‘ Trick. ‘ Not many bands had come out with such a masterpiece after losing their genius, front man. Oh, and Station To Station is an excellent top 3 choice. It’s one of Bowie’s finest.

The first Traffic album the I heard was the second LP. I really like the Dave Mason stuff. I prefer the Traffic version of “Feeling Alright” over the Joe Cocker rendition. It has a much more relaxed feel. Traffic must have brought out the best in Mason. Mason’s first album is really good but he started to sound more like a lounge act. More commercial.

Great ranking, here’s mine!! 😄👍 1. “So” (1986) 2. “Peter Gabriel” (1980) 3. “Peter Gabriel” (1982) 4. “Us” (1992) 5. “Peter Gabriel” (1978) 6. “Peter Gabriel” (1977) 7. “Up” (2002) I haven’t listened to “I/O” yet but I’ll definitely check it out sometime soon!! 😀👍

Broadly agree and Knopfler also on Infidels. Dylan' Rolling Thunder Review threaded through America's heartland for 7 months in 1995 - 6 in with such distinctive musicians as Scarlet Rivera and Mick Ronson (ex David Bowie's lead guitarist). They forged - for me - definitive transformations of even such oldies as Hattie Carrol ('64). The Bootleg Series Vol 5 is a modestly priced 2 cds with 22 of those performances and has become my favorite Dylan hangout. No booklet but Scorcese's film probing - but only 6 live performances that are not playlisted on the DVD. Incidentally his bootleg series 1-3 now a cheap 3 cd set. Thanks Bob.

I like only the ATTWT / Duke / Abacab period. Can't stand the progressive (early) or drivel (late) periods. Maybe it's my age - I was 20 in 1980.
