It's not a no brainer to decline, say he gets hurt, 30 million dollars a year deferring the money to futures years helps with taxes. Players have gambled and lost.

Further he’d have attached himself to a franchise that was headed to a prolonged rebuild & still has onerous contracts on the books + ownership instability (they just pulled the team off the market). It’s not a team nor situation you attached yourself to for the rest of your playing career. The Nats $440 offer was only to save face with the fans and was never, ever under serious consideration. If you’re Juan Soto it’s a no brainer to decline, full stop. 🤣

Matt Chapman is really screwed!!! 1) Scott has overvalued him. 2) Matt has a draft pick attached to him - so even a 1-year deal means the team loses a draft pick. 3) Only the Jays could sign him and they will only sign him if they can delete a contract … not going to happen for Chapman’s abysmal hitting. Its honestly ridiculous how often Sampson talks out of both sides of his mouth. "Breaking ranks" isnt collusion to him, yet he talks about the unspoken agreement between them as they are all expected to act and conduct their business in a particular way. So its not collusion by the dictionary definition of the law, but we all know it is what it is. Being unable to be honest about that just makes him come across like he huffs paint in his spare time

this is cope and I can't really get behind wanting players not to get paid what they're worth. Blake Snell is getting absolutely hosed and it's not his fault. He talks about "it's unspoken" about dealing with Boras clients kind of like it's "unspoken" when dealing with Trevor Bauer, who to me is the bigger story of the offseason.

How is he getting hosed? He wants $40 million per year, he has thrown 130 plus innings 2 times in his career. Those Cy Young’s mean little. He’s a $25-27 million per year guy at best.. If teams thought Snell was a #1 guy he’d be on a team by now

Juan Soto is only 25 years old. The New York Yankees are paying him 31 million dollars this coming 2024 MLB season. Once again, he is only 25 years old. Juan Soto still may get more than a 400 million dollar contract. What is David Samson talking about?
