The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

I don't normally watch reaction videos but you two are so incredibly upbeat, happy and fun I could watch you all day. I was 16 when Hip to be Square was released. It was and remains an awesome rocker. This band could rock and exude great energy when they wanted to. Huey's vocals are strong and the drumming by Gibson is awesome. Johnny Colla on saxophone - taught himself in about two months ho to play the instrument. So cheers an upbeat song and upbeat grooving on the couch - fantastic! And yes I am so Square and proud of it.! You've made my day watching two super cool dudes loving my teenage song.

Huey Lewis and the News were a top selling 80s group. Their Album SPORTS, was huge, and more than half the songs charted above the top 10. From 1981 to 1988 Huey and the News were about the tightest, most talented pop band in the country. Nodding towards roots rock and rhythm and blues, their tight, nostalgic music and perfect vocalist for smooth and gritty hooks, were eventually drowned out by hair metal of the late 80s and then grunge in the 90s. Huey could still be seen in movies like DUETS with Gwynth Paltrow, showcasing his talent again.

Love these guys, you should check out their catalog, especially Bad is Bad and early tune before they broke big in the 80's. One of the best concerts I saw back them was the tour they did for the album "Sports" and the TOWER OF POWER toured with them!! They were the backing band. OMG, so much soul, the horns and sax...It was amazing.

Don Everly, of the Everly Brothers, just passed away. One of the Founding Fathers of Rock n Roll (others include Little Richard, Chuck Berry, & Elvis). You should give them a listen. Live performance of "Dream" & "Cathy's Clown" can be found on a video together. "Bird Dog" live is also out there. So is "Wake Up, Little Susie". "Dream" is a ballad, the rest are pretty up beat.

Incredibly catchy tune from them. Once you hear that driving guitar riff, it won't leave your head, and you won't want it to. I got a kick out of Jai doing the "square" hand motion toward the end of the song. As fun as this one is, my favorite Huey Lewis and the News song is "Stuck with You," which was a #1 hit for three weeks over the summer of 1986. I also like "If this is It." Both songs have a doo-wop feel with some great harmonies.
