The same Chinese manufacturer of this machine kit also sells the same under at least five other brand names in the UK, and they all sell at around the same price range but with different brand names printed on the machine and case. However it's a good machine and gets the job done well

Soulboy here Mat, considering all the kit you get, it's certainly value for money and I don't see the need to buy an equivalent more expensive from the more premium brands as It looks to me that it'll do just as good a job.

I don’t mind the extra time it takes to get perfection with this. The biggest takeaway is you CAN get excellent end results with it, as with any rotary tool, provided you’re (in the words of Mat) “methodical” and you take your time.

Excellent product for those nooks & crannies. Loved it! Lead me to go fully cordless too so now have completely upgraded to Flex Gear Driven (my workhorse) Flex Long Throw (for finishing) & got the Flex Pixie (PXE) which with the no fuss quick change mechanism (no spanners) for 1 inch/3 inch backing plates is a real plus..SPTA is excellent but the big bucks Flex mini is pretty awesome & has more torque/power

I think a corded version would be really nice especially if the retail would be at £100. Where can we find stamp to cut out bigger pads to fit 1"?

An interesting and informative video, Mat. Thanks for making it. You might find the stalling issue is like using an extension bar on a ratchet wrench or torque wrench. The extension will use up some of the torque applied by the tool. Looks like a good DIY tool, I'll have to save up for one.

I got one of these a couple of weeks ago although the Autobrite Direct version (same machine). I’ve found it such a big help and gets into so many places I couldn’t go to before. I was using an extension bar on my old rotary and a 1 or 2 inch pad and wasn’t sure the cordless would give much more but I was wrong!

yeah paying a lot is not worth it for a lot of us because I got pads 3/5 inch polishes and a DA polisher for about 280 euros and pads and polishes are 3 step and from good well-known brands and the polisher cost only 120 euros and it's 8mm throw so it worked nicely with 3-inch pads little vibration but it's not for a professional, more like a weekend warrior, yes it takes more in correction stage but aggressive pad and polish took that, but a 5/3 inch polisher for 120 euros is a bargain for me, thought me a lot (first time polishing) 3:16 lol

Great review. I prefer the Autobrite Mini DA Polisher as has a protector over the head so when your upside down on a intricate part you can’t mark anything with metal head. I use the Flex 80 and a Carbon Collective Portable HEX Nano Machine Polisher for the Piano Black plastic on VW exterior and interior.

Lol, the Carbon Collective one is exactly the same machine, just different colours 😄 And about £60 more...!!! And the Autobrite Direct MP9, same machine re-branded and more expensive 😎

Also I purchased one of these from Amazon, and noticed some are sold with only 1 backing plate and no protector...

Very useful Matt, I've been looking at this and wondering if it's worth it for a while. Alot of the reviews mention the 2" backing plate not being as well made as the 1". Your thoughts on that. Thanks

I’ve had one for a year or more, love it. The original plastic 2” backing plate is crap. Mine broke, they have now replaced it with a metal one. My replacement is on a slow boat from China.

Well, I've already bought the SPTA rotary and SPTA 15mm DA, so why not go the whole hog and get this mini polisher? Looks like you get a lot for your money, too. I think the extension, and the fact they give you two batteries has sold it for me, besides the great review of the product. Thanks Matt.

Is the motor stalling, or does the pad simply stop rotating on it's free spinning axis? Two very different things.

Stalling 👍

@@TheDetailingSpace eh? You didn't answer my question. There are two types of stalling - which type did you observe?
@TheDetailingSpace3 жыл бұрын
It stops totally. I'd say motor
@gregsullivan74083 жыл бұрын
@@TheDetailingSpace thanks - that's a shame. I'd be less concerned with pad rotation stalling only, because that's due to friction - not motor power. (assuming the motor stays at, or nearly at, the same speed).
@gregsullivan74083 жыл бұрын
Hang on a tick - if it stops TOTALLY, do you mean the motor completely stops? If the motor is still spinning, but the pad has stopped rotating on it's axis, that's a "pad stall" - not a motor stall.

It's actually crazy how expensive some of these micro polishers are. Granted it's in a kit form, but still, the high end versions cost significantly more than their own full size flagship polishers. I bought the Rupes Nano, but returned it. I just couldn't accept the limited power and torque after using powerful pneumatic mini polishers for years. The Flex PXE80 is the first cordless micro polisher I've really loved. It has enough power to serve as both a micro *and* a 3" mini. Combined with how small and light it is, it's an absolute joy to use. Haven't touched another small polisher since I got it. Worth every dollar. This kit has a lot of capability for the money though. A nice entry level option. Thanks for the video! 👍👌✌

@@TheDetailingSpace The machines which are roughly double the price seem far better and I'm normally happy to pay more to get something better. I'm just wondering if it's worth sacrificing a bit of quality for a tool which isn't the most important one in the garage.

I ended up getting the Flex PXE 80. My personal opinion is, it's worth the extra money. OK, you have to buy things like the extension bars but the machine is incredibly good. I'm poorer but happier.

Its total chinese crap. How do I know? I bought one and it snapped after a few weeks. Just dont waste your money. The performance and build quality is absolutely rubbish. Its the same adage buy cheap pay twice! I sent it back. It wasn't worth a toffee apple! Just dont go there. What I'm telling you is quite true. So what did I do. ? I spent more and bought the Flex Pxe 80 mini polisher. What a incredible tool this is. Dont want to wax lyrical but the quality and performance of this thing is simply amazing. Remember, you can't fake quality anymore than you can fake a good meal. Also don't forget that quality is never an accident, it's always the result of intelligent effort. .
