Is Tokyo DisneySea worth going?! Learn from my mistakes: food, wait times, and more!

This is my families first time at Tokyo Disney and Tokyo Disney Sea. Should you visit the theme parks when you come to Tokyo? I hope this video helps you decide... I'll have more of my thoughts written in the description below :)

Duffy is Mickey's teddy bear who was brought to life by Tinkerbell. He was released in America but didn't sell well but he sold REALLY WELL in Japan so they still get him. THe idea is kind of that you get a Duffy and he is your best friend who you share adventures with.

Actually, at Tokyo DisneySea, Duffy was made by Minnie as Mickey's friend.

Duffy was originally created as The Disney Bear for Once Upon A Toy in Walt Disney World and originally it was supposed to be exclusive to that store, but the company who owns Tokyo Disneyland saw the interest in it, so they brought him over to their parks, and gave him a name, backstory, etc. and now they have rolled out his friends like his lady friend ShellieMay, then in no particular order they created Gelatoni, Olu Mel, StellaLou, LinaBell, and CookieAnn Duffy was basically created as an option for boys since the girls had the princesses

Duffy is Disney, it’s a bear Minnie made for Mickey so he could take on his travels with him. He has a whole background story along with how his friends came to be. He legit had a hidden mickey sewn on his butt.

This is the correct answer. He was created specifically for Disney Sea and is popular at the asian Disney parks. He can also be found at Aulani in Hawaii, which has many Japanese visitors.

Girl you missed out on Soaring. Should have paid for the fast pass. We live in Yokosuka, Japan but I am from Orange, CA. USA and the Soaring in Tokyo Disneyland is WAY different and WAY better than the Soaring in California. It's one of our favorite rides.

It was my favourite in California out of all rides, then pirates of the Caribbean, I will go to Tokyo, which rides do you recommend. I get scared easily so was terrified at Indians jones. Thanks 🙏

We went to DisneySea back in 2019, and had so much fun! Had no issues getting all the rides we wanted. Wait times were usually 30 minutes or less, which was unheard of especially comparing to Disneyland in CA. The best part for me was that the food is so affordable, and delicious!

Is Tokyo DisneySea worth going? - Yes! It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The crowds are incredible but the theming is as well.

Loved DisneySea! It is unlike any other Disney park, probably because it's the only Disney Park that isnt actually owned and managed by Disney

@@heratlas I'm pretty sure Duffy stuffed animals can be found at other Disney parks too but for whatever reason it really got popular in Japan so it's more prevalent at the Disney parks there

Actually Oriental Land Company (OLC) owns Tokyo Disneyland as well. 🙂 OLC wanted a clone of Magic Kingdom (except were Japanese laws and culture made no sense for a particular ride/area). Cinderella's Castle was an exact clone when it was built.

If you come to Denmark, the sausage roll thing is called a "Fransk hotdog" (translates into "french hotdog") 😄 it´s like one of the bigger fastfood items here. available even at manned gas stations 😆

I went to Tokyo Disneyland back in 1995 and despite having been back to Japan several times I have little desire to go again. Lining up for hours and food that I can’t eat (allergies and intolerances) are my main put offs. It’s one part of Japanese culture I just don’t get. Give me a country town with a temple/shrine and a good view any day. Amanohashidate View Land was a great little park to enjoy - especially if you have little ones. I’m talking a great view with around 10 things to do - Ferris wheel, pedal bikes (on a course up high), Anpanman and friends mini bumper cars to drive etc and a chair lift ride to get up to it. Great video though.

The soaring ride is WAY different than soaring California and much better! Definitely recommend riding it!

I know you recommend going to DisneySea for first timers in Japan for a day- but the lines following what you said really says otherwise lol.

Depends what time of year you go to. As I type this it is 2 PM on Saturday April 29 in Japan and checking on the app: Soaring is at 130 min, Toy Story Mania at 110 min, Journey to the Center of the Earth at 70 min and Tower of Terror at 30 min. also the Duffy Meet and Greet at 55 min (if you were curious about his popularity). Indiana Jones is at 50 min but that one has a Single Rider line that usually takes longer to reach the actual queue of rider than it does to get ON the ride. It less busy on Tues-Thur, and if the weather is rainy attendance drops by like... half.

This video is so timely as we have Disney sea on our list for early June trip this summer! Would you say it was super crowded since it was during the holidays and kids were out of school? Generally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have lower attendance. And if it rains? You'll have the run of the place. And DisneySea has like...5 rides without a roof? I checked the app for fun this past Thursday (for Tokyo) and the longest time posted was 60 min at Soaring at around lunch time and that was on a sunny day. Just make sure to avoid Nationnal Holidays.

Good move on skipping Soar'n. It's identical to the other "Soar'n Over the Worlds". Duffy is "kinda" Disney. It's something that Disney merchandizing came up with. The tan part around his eyes and mouth form a "hidden mickey"; there's one in the bottom of his feet as well. Yeah, the gyoza bun is mostly hype although it is pretty good esp. on a cold day.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I downloaded the app out of curiousity (planning a return visit in the fall) and last thursday, at around lunch, Soaring was at 60 min in standby. And it was sunny that day. Last week was the week before Golden Week, a major string of national holidays in Japan, so I'm guessing people were saving up for that instead. If it rains, attendance drops in like half. They only have 5 outdoor rides with roof: Aquatopia, Scuttle's Scooter, Flounder's Flying Fish Coaster, Jasmine's Flying Carpet and Raging Spirit.

How are their rides in terms of size inclusivity? I know when I went to USJ they are not size inclusive at all so I’m just wondering!

I'm six foot tall and portly and I had no problem when I went, but the only times I've ever had any 'size' issue were at certain theatres and that time I took the intercity bus with a similarly shaped friend and was uncomfortable all ride, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Only ride I would avoid is Raging Spirit. That one not only has a min. height requirement, it has a MAXIMUM HEIGHT limit. Even if I was under that limit there's no way I'd fit in those tiny carts. But I did 20 000 league under the sea fine (though I had a bench to myself), Indiana Jones, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Aquatopia (alone) and the now Nemo Sea Rider simulator ride just fine.

On March 13, 2023, the government dropped its recommendation to wear masks for most situations and is now leaving it up to the individual to decide whether to wear a mask or not. The government continues to recommend wearing masks in places such as medical institutions and on crowded public transportation.

I’ve been in Japan since the start of May, never worn a mask once and haven’t run into any issues or obligations or needs. I went to the Sapporo factory tour and everyone had a mask to start with (besides me) and a fair few came off eventually. I think she’s wearing a mask due to social obligation since she lives in the country as opposed to visiting. Gaijins can get away with not following social pressure to wear masks, as it’s not a legal obligation
