Still a very beautiful island! This is a glimpse on how fast tourism will change landscapes in the future, though. 🤔

The locals are doing fine without the tourists. They have been living off the land for many years. Too many tourists destroy the land and water. Think about the humans’ wastes. I hope they don’t enter the water like what happened in Boracay. And I hope the self-serving, greedy business, real-estate mongers do NOT chase out the natives for the purpose of building more hotels. What the people want in Siargao are education and medicine.
@cesarmontera22475 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you there. Education also among the locals about natures preservation otherwise we are the direct victims whatever the repercussion is.
@omgreensexpress53965 жыл бұрын
more tourists means more money for the locals and it would benefit them but downside are the human wastes.. the local government should get involved because there is technology to handle waste disposal. rules should be imposed strictly. westerner tourists are educated about ecosystem preservation and do follow rules. ..it is the local tourists that I am afraid of
@vicki-8705 жыл бұрын
OMGreens Express I DEFINITELY AGREE with you! I meant to say it is the LOCAL tourists or Filipinos who do not care about the environment.

@pearlyshellboparks37335 жыл бұрын
I agreed .I lost my voice for a week and I used different kind of med. But it didn't work so I try ginger root, I cut a little piece of it and put it in my mouth until the juice is gone . I did that for at least 4 or 5 time a day and it helps me big time.

That's the thing about tourism: Tourists want to see a beautiful, natural place. But too much of tourism can destroy a place. Whose fault is it? Not the tourists' - but the government's. If the government wants to earn for tourism, it must, first of all, keep the place maintained clean and orderly - ALWAYS. A good thing was done for Boracay; the other tourist spots acted on in the Philippines should follow suit.
@omgreensexpress53965 жыл бұрын
agree . also education of the local filipino tourists. many westerners,japanese,koreans, are aware of ecology preservation and do follow rules. just look at the cleanliness in their own countries

What are these locals thinking?!? How dare they deny rich kids from western countries their youtube and instagram content! The nerve!
@PemaTravels5 жыл бұрын
Joe Malapitan they actually deliver them their content turning their random spots into must stops on the land tour :) the river used to be full of glass so tourists wouldn’t enter (except with some pain), and the path was created to allow the rich western kids an easy way to take their coconut pics :))
@joeytravels86215 жыл бұрын
You know, Pema Travels, if it's ok for you to make money off your youtube channel, promoting a place whose beauty has been maintained by the locals for generations, it's ok for them to charge you a quarter to rope swing your ass around their village. Consider yourselves lucky that the path that leads to the coconut pics aren't laid out with land mines.
@PemaTravels5 жыл бұрын
Joe Malapitan you do understand sarcasm right? I’ve never swung on that palm and never will. I was against my friends making travel guides and blogs, and all sorts of things to increase tourism on the island but no one really listens. Have an awesome day with your landmines 😚
@joeytravels86215 жыл бұрын
@@PemaTravels It's you that doesn't understand. Tourism, for many of the people of Siargao and many, many parts of the Philippines is one way out of Poverty. You're not Filipino and you don't understand. It isn't the locals that will allow for the ruin of Siargao. They've been custodians of the island for centuries. It's the outsiders that don't wish to follow the rules that will cause all sorts of problems. The government needs to come up with solid environmental planning NOW in order to preserve as much of the island for as long as possible. It's pretty much damage control from here on. But the main thing is, the locals should benefit the most from the damage that they will eventually have to live with and undo.
@PemaTravels5 жыл бұрын
Joe Malapitan if that is your view point (and a valid one), how do you get off being so hateful in response to a tourist attraction we’re featuring here? And just being so nasty in general? If anything then maybe some people in their local barangay are making money because a few instagrammers blew up a bent coconut. 🙏🏽

Crap video. Doesn’t even really explore the subject in any depth apart from, oh look we went here, took photos that did well on insta and now it’s popular so locals are making money from it as a tourist (ahem gram) hotspot. Kinda obvious really 👍

OMG I agree, just last September that famous Palm tree was free to the public and noone new about it from a vlog I saw then. Now they charge you entrance fee, to tip and even to see it that chair. It's a shame. Even the rock pools are crowded now. Imagine when the international airport is built
