Yello! I'm a Mongolian currently living in Ulaanbaatar and I've been in Seoul many times especially because my little brother was born there. From my observation, Mongolians are more fond of Asian cuisine (Korean, Chinese, Japanese) than any other cuisine which explains why we have many Korean street food vendors. As for the Korean branded businesses, I'd imagine that is due to how much easier it is to import items from Korea to Mongolia in comparison to Europe and the West. I do know that Mongolia has quite a few wealthy Koreans that either run a decent amount of the businesses here or helped build them (ik this because I graduated highschool w/ their kids) As for why they chose Mongolia of all places? I'm not sure but I have my theories...
@madamecuriosity60432 ай бұрын
For a while now, I have noticed Mongolians have a particular fondness for Korean and Japanese culture whether it is entertainment, food, social structure, etc. I've noticed the younger generations practically idolizing them. Oh and fun fact! Many early Millennial Mongolians (around the ages 40-50 yrs old) travelled to Korea to work for a few years before coming back.

No Korean and Mongolian are not friends. It is like more of asian resembling USA and Mexico. Mongolian heavily influenced by Korean culture, Mongolians want to live in Korea. Mongolians want to earn as much as money in Korea. Koreans are recently aware of this heavy presence of Korean culture in Mongolia. Koreans dont give a fuck about Mongolia, other than seeing at as a Korea version 3.

A few years back I did a motorcycle trip across Mongolia. West of Ulan Baatar is utterly amazing with its untouched countryside and remarkable landscape. We slept in yurts, ate some rather interesting dishes and met the nicest people you can imagine. I’ll admit, getting into Ulan Baatar was kind of a relief after being in the saddle for a week and looks more modern now than when I was there.

I can't believe it! I was there in 1996 and they had just got their first pizza shop. It was amazing. I remember following a local late at night looking for accommodation and we jumped fences to find it. Crazy times. Now it looks like a foreign city in Ulaan Baatar. I'm totally shocked. When I was there, I was like a man on the moon. A total stranger as a young man, in a foreign country. Now look. Thanks for this video@.

There are about 30k+ Mongolians living in Korea right now (and that's the ones staying there legally...), it might not sound significant but it is atleast 1% of our entire population, and there are thousands more who have lived there before for years. Mongolia also sees Korea as a role model in a weird way, Mongolians see the development and infastructure there and just try to model the entire thing back home. Also Mongolians consume lots of Korean media and pop culture as a whole, young and old, hope that gives you a new perspective on this whole thing!

Frank, Korea is not Mongolia's #1 exporting nation, nor the #1 importing nation, but it is just that Mongolians simply love Korean culture. As Mongolia invaded many places of the world all over, Mongolia also invaded Korea about 800 years ago and therefore, we formed some genetically similar ties one another, which is very close to each other at this time point, and also the Korea's economy scale (size of Russia) is very attractive to Mongolians to work which suits them very well as well (not only the intimate food/culture).

@@strongpride73 Many Koreans are aware of its Hangul's origin but faked ignorance to avoid embarrassment. Actually the Koreans tried very hard to attribute Hangul's creations to King Sejong. Unfortunately the truth is that he quietly borrowed or plagiarized it from the Mongolian. The early Joseon rulers downplay or concealed Hangul's Mongolian's roots. In reality, the adoption of the Korean alphabet was slow and gradual, not until in the late 19th century did it come into use by lower class citizens. Then it disappeared for half a century when Korea was under Japanese occupation. Just after WW2 did the Hangul got revived. Short history of about 80 years.One of the world's youngest written language with Mongolian's root.
