My first time on your Live Stream Tech channel. I am more familiar with KZbin monetization than Twitch affiliate. Interesting video.

If twitch goes through with the 50/50 split (plus forcing even more ads), then a lot of partners will opt out. This move will probably over time kill the platform. As for affiliated? if you want to stream as a job, no. Terrible. If you only do it for fun and only stream on twitch? Debateable. Because on the off chance you do blow up suddenly, they still own your brand (plus that exclusivity and ads). In my opinion.. If amazon doesn't do some changes, twitch will probably take more hits over time and more panic decisions will be made, because mega corps. don't like red numbers. I recently started streaming and have no interest in affiliate or partner. I will do it for fun and see where it leads. Overall i just want to entertain for now. If i can build a community and grow a brand, i will probably go to other options for monetization (patreon and others for example). If Twitch changes things, i may think it over.

Thanks for the great rundown - So one thing not really mentioned but I am curious about was ads? I am so close to affiliate (47 followers and 2.9 average viewers) and fall into the "hey, just here for the fun, not the dollars" aspect. But what about the ads. Do small streamers find signing up for affiliate means you lose viewership due to the adverts kicking in? Are the ads worth it for the emotes?

I dont think its worth it. Twitch is flooded with affiliates, and most don't even have 5-10 concurrent viewers average. I have a job, I don't need affiliate or ads
