I'm personally in love with this software, I hope it progresses quickly. Unfortunately I have noticed some bugs and only because of one of them did I not migrate completely to LUNA. I'm referring to the automations that are completely out of sync when exporting. I hope they resolve this issue quickly. (my system: Macbock M3 Sonoma 14.2.1 + apollo X4). Congratulations guys, I love UAD, keep up the good work you've been doing.

I would like them to release the shortcut customized by the user, it would be perfect for building a workflow more in line with the user's usage, I believe that many wonderful functions will arrive in Luna, I'm looking forward to seeing the next chapters of this evolution

I am a Blackmagic Davinci Resolve user - another piece of software which is a gateway product to a hardware range. But with DR, they have simply made the decision that they will be the number one editor (both free and paid), on all the platforms that their huge user base uses. They have been very public with that. Most users know now that one way or another all their requests will be met at some point. It is not a case of “we would love to,” but a case of “we must do.” And they still manage to surprise. Out of nowhere a few months back came a pro camera app for iPhone - and it is free. They are not just nipping at the competitors heels but now leading the pack. UA could do the same if they chose, and with the same attitude.

@@teatime6414 Yea, they went back 4 years and started from scratch! Windows may not even be around in 2 years, the way they broke Windows 11! If I update to windoz 11, my Apollo isn't supported, because Microsoft/Intel decided to break Thunderbolt! To little and too late!

Hi - thanks so much for watching and taking the time to ask! To be honest, there isn't anything for my workflow that I've missed from other DAW's. I do record songs very much using the DAW as a tape machine if that makes sense? I think the most important thing if you can - would be to treat LUNA as it's own programme and not a different version of Pro Tools (which I know can be difficult!). It's deliberately designed as an incredible simple piece of software to use. The extensions are so good when engaged across all your tracks & busses, that this cumulative effect alone is the reason I suggest people give it a try. By engaging them at the start of a mix, I've found I begin in a totally different place, and as a result, don't need to insert anywhere near the same number of plugins. If you have the time, I would just import some unprocessed audio from a song that you've mixed already in ProTools, then create busses grouping your individual tracks (drums, guitars, keys, vocals etc.). Now add the tape, console and summing extensions along with any favourite two bus chain (if you normally mix into that). Finally just get a static balance with only volume and panning. There is a bypass button just below the metres - so that you can turn the extensions on and off to hear what they're doing. I've made a video (that I'll link below) that shows you how to do this really quickly. One other feature that is also great, is when you create a bus (eg: for your drum tracks), you will see a SPILL button above the fader on the bus track. When you click this, it will spill (or show) only the tracks feeding that bus along with the main bus. A small thing - but you can move so fast around the session - without having to set groups etc. at the start. I hope that helps and thanks again! OFF TOPIC question... It seems like your home studio? is quite small, looks kina like the room i'm in now. Hey - thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment - great question! My studio is a fairly small space - although it has got a lot of acoustic treatment, so sounds great for mixing (with very few reflections). However, with my voices overs on videos, to create a better ambient space, I use UAD C Vox to take out most of the natural room, then UAD Ocean Way to blend a really nice room back in! I'll use Ocean Way on a bus, then blend in the from a send. If you set the send just below the point when you really start to here the room kick in - that's normally pretty natural. When you Mute Ocean Way to AB - it's increadable what a difference it makes. Other than that, a small amount of EQ, D-ESS and compression. I hope that helps and have a great day man. Matt

I’ll bet they have multi outs already ready to go. They’re probably just waiting until they have their own drum VI to launch alongside the update. It would be a nice marketing tie-in, but geez, we’d buy the drum plugin later anyway, so just release the multi out update already. If a drum VI is in fact in development, I hope they give us some dry / dead / 70’s snare and tom options. No one’s done a decent job of that sound yet in a comprehensive plugin (vs. just samples).

@@DistantSunStudios Thanks for the links. Cool song. I predict UA will release an Ocean Way Drums 2.0 among their drum VI options. They’re already using the original OWD samples in their Shape instrument. One of the two kits comes close to that dry 70’s sound.

Yet on their own message board they allowed a user to make a post saying it was available over 1 year ago(I guess there is a gaming platform?). I get emails all the time from them telling me to use LUNA. Finally after about the 4000th, I replied, criticizing their marketing department for running a blanket campaign. I have an Apollo Twin and it doesn't like to play with others, any others. It crashes regularly. Protools and other DAW's crash regularly. Their marketing department led me to believe it was good for windows. In many ways it would be like buying a window with rock AC.

Drew is a good guy, but he basically said nothing at all (As usual). Many people, including myself, have pointed out the single flaw in the marketing logic. Pro's and businesses need to know what they can expect in the future to form their own strategy. When UAD don't tell anyone, what business or Pro is ever going to use LUNA? Why on earth would they? The truth is, LUNA is not meant for use by business or Pro's because it's aimed at bedroom folks that are never going to make money with it or use it as a business tool, because it's so very far away from what is required to fulfil that need. There are more amateurs than Pro's or businesses, so there is your answer, it's the Market. The best advice is that everyone should follow UAD's own philosophy and mantra and not bother with wasting time with LUNA until it actually "arrives". UAD would be a bit f****d by then though...

I completely agree that LUNA isn't going to be the best fit for everyone, and indeed for Post Production, I don't think it will never be the right tool. As I understand it, LUNA is designed as a creative tool to record and then mix music - moving fast. It integrates a more traditional workflow (in the way of tape, console and summing extensions), but also without doubt, has features that are still to be implemented. My workflow is pretty straight forward, and LUNA is a great fit for me. It certainly won't be for everyone, however, especially as it's free now, I would encourage anyone to download it, maybe use one of the demo sessions and see if they think. Currently, no hardware inserts or multi outs for VI's - so if you need them in your workflow, it's not for you. Having said all that, when I started recording music in my first band, it was on a 4 track tape cassette machine - so where we are today with the opportunities technology has given us, is just mind blowing! A windows release would also fall in line with Luna now being free and no longer tied to an Apollo interface. This, along with their very aggressive pricing on the UAD & native plug-ins recently and the introduction of Spark as a subscription model…. Maybe UA adapting to the changing market - with a different focus to monetize their products for the future? We'll just have to wait and see! Anyway, have a great weekend man and thanks again! Matt

if i buy a Microphone from UAD on a mac i now can install Luna but i cant do so on a PC even though i bought a Microphone from UAD thats not only unjust that does make bussinessvise no sense ! i have the struggle of DAW now for the last almost 20 years , starting weith reason back in the day then magix and then many smaller ones up to Studio One and Luna from what i saw in some videos would be the way to go but the catch is no Windows Version ! That is sad actualy given the fact how many users on the planet use PC and how many do make music and how many would actualy buy the DAW. UAD does not see its area of doing bussiness : mac users are only those who either are fanboys or dont need their money for nothin else and throw it down the throat of the papple guys but the number of Windows Users is way bigger and many of us , including myself, would love to work with only luna. so whats the point of having a DAW that only a fiew can use UAD : you guys need to listen to people because that is the way how to be not only a protools killer but actualy become potentialy the new Indurstry standard. i have used so many DAWs till now that i cannot even name them and dont want to also and there allways was the reason why so many changes they did not match my needs or the needs of even proffesionals. Luna has much more Potential but that DAW gets not unleashed and that is very sad !

"If it's not ready, we're not going to push it out the door..." That's exactly what UA did with Luna. And comparing it to other DAWs at the four-year mark is such bullshit. Every new DAW has the benefit of using the features of every other DAW as their jumping off point. Luna was a DAW-lite four years ago and it remains a DAW-lite today. Pro-Tools killer? LMAO!

My take away from this part of the interview is that UA won’t formally announce anything until it’s ready to be fully released and used on the same day by its users. However, Drew did say the Luna will be getting VI multi outs and hardware inserts 100%. As far as windows goes, I thought what he said right at the end was very telling "the majority of our future growth comes from PC users - so we'd be stupid not to be... working on it". Which inline with UA’s policy to not announcing anything until it’s ready, is as much of a “yes - it’s coming” as I thought I could have reasonably expected. @@DistantSunStudios They did originally developed LUNA for the Intel chipset! They did originally promise that the Windows version would be out no later than fall! They don't have a good Windows driver and basically don't support Windows! Also, Thunderbolt is dead on Windows! Thunderbolt is NOT backwards compatible like USB! My Thunderbolt Apollo | Twin, has never been used for anything but an expensive volume control.🤔

Interesting BS by drew about “being able to buy it today” luna promots you to “buy” the neve summing natively and also gives you a demo for it but theb when u finally click buy at the end of your 30 days it sends you to buy an apollo basically so its not true that their marketing gives users the ability to buy immediately This is a dirty marketing trick let users believe they can use something natively and for sure buy it in the end of demo to use with your existing setup just to find out u need to buy an interface to be able to buy what you just successfully demoed for 30 days and started mixing with

I’m afraid I don’t know if the Neve summing requires an Apollo interface to function? This would be a question that I’m sure Drew would be able to answer 👍 Judging by the recent rollout of new native plug-ins to the spark platform, if the Neve summing is currently UAD 2 only, i wouldn’t be surprised at all to see a native version arriving soon.
