The possibilities for low budget filmmakers are now pretty insane, and really only limited by how much time and effort you are willing to put into learning various software, and how much vision you have. Cameras are amazingly Good now for little money, editing software, vfx software, UE , deepfake. Its a amazing time.

As fantasy film creator, this seems great. Considering weather is always a problem, but filming everything inside a studio can be a big deal for costume design. Plus "free" locations that cannot even be found IRL. Also toilet is closer in a studio and audio is potentially better

That's what I've been saying for years. I'm into gaming for almost 40 years, and today more than ever you can clearly see how games are comming closer to triple-A blockbusters we only expect to come out of Hollywood. Just few years back you could see all that only in game cutscenes, but today everything runs in real-time (if you have powerful enough equipment). It's absolutely insane what you can do with today's computers and software if you have the talent and know-how. You could literally be a crew of just a few people making mindblowing scenes that one could think it's the result of few dozens creators and budget in millions of dollars. The future is very, very bright for this type of movie making industry. The classic movie making is long gone, and now even green screens will completely go away. I'm so excited all of this is finally becoming a reality, and looking forward to see all what talented creators have to show to the world!

Damn, in college in 2009 I took 3-4 3d modeling/animation classes using 3DSMax and Maya and I had to I had to do everything manually. Modeling, Animation, Texturing, Lighting, etc and then used a render farm for hours to get a short clip. Now everyone has software like this and assets you can just drop in your scene. All of the CG people know how much time and effort it used to take to even create small assets or scenes. This is crazy.

@@starpilotalliance The amount of free stuff Unreal gives away far outweighs whatever it is you're even talking about. I'm in school for game design, the schooling cost 50,000(a little less with scholarships, but that's the total). In the two years of being in school I will accumulate a good 7000 - 12,000$ of free stuff from Unreal. That's in both games and game assets. The value unreal gives to people like me is immeasurable. Not only do I support Epic Games, but I would give them full permission to do whatever on my PC knowing that a a company like that would only be interested in information if anything and my information is not private to corporations like that. I simple don't care if somebody from Facebook or wherever can see through my Camera, they don't give a fuck about me and neither do I care for them.

This was an awesome video. I think you’re definitely right in saying it’s the future of filmmaking, but further, it’s a new platform for individual creation. For example, there is books and ebooks that you can write and publish all yourself, then there is SoundCloud for music, and KZbin for videos, but imagine releasing full films or “tv series” on KZbin or another platform. I think it’s going to be epic and there will be some amazing things released from many folks out there.

And those movies will be trash. Good filmmakers are those who have keen interest in art and use technology when necessary, not for everything. Something about Unreal Engine kept me faithful to it, even when seeking out jobs. I knew there was something special about it. It makes me so joyful and proud of the Epic team for their diligence to build on something they knew was going to be huge. It's pretty wild seeing it grow to this magnitude. I hope that if you're pursuing a dream that you keep moving forward with it no matter what people say about you. Let this be an example of patience and persistence. Tim Sweeny and his team changed lives and many industries for the better. Keep striving to build. You may not know it yet, but you could be the next big positive shift the world needs. I remember in the late 80's when a computer image of a rotating wire-frame space shuttle was a big deal. Thirty-odd years later ... this.

We will get in a few years first 3d Animation Films realtime in VR. Could you imagine? You rent the movie like "Pets 3" and you can not only be in the movie but rotate or even change the camera! If they add in the sounds placement than we will get the Pixar animated movies in VR which you can watch a 10-20 or 50 times and they will look and even sounds completely different. Of course there will be a way to just leave the cameras position to initial or maybe set the camera to random if no VR headset - so then your movie on 2d screen will be different every time you watch! What do you think? My opinion is we will get something like that in 8-12 years.

Been using UE4 and Houdini together in production for years now :) A few others are okay like CryEngine but UE4 continues to be a fairly happy place to develop! The fact I can natively load alembic caches into UE4 with UVs was a game changer for me. Now if they can just solve real time VDB...

Every other Unreal 5 demo I have seen where there was water, that water sucked. Mr. Hamilton made it work.

2 -3 years ago I was thinking that UE is so powerful that it could be the next step in the film industry. Then Mandalorian was realized and I was shocked how they used this tool! UE one of the best tools for independent and big studio filmmakers! This is mf future!

Great Tutorial...How can you create an In-game movie camera that can be made available in inventory so the character can select it to use it to film within the game.

When I started in the video editing business we literally wrapped the videotape around a spinning drum and mark the cutting spot with a chalk line. Then put the tape in a angled splice block and made the cut using a straight edge razor blade. Then taped the two pieces together. Watching this video makes me feel so old and tired. What a great future for the home producers.
