The problem is that depending on the complexity of the shot a vfx studio that works on blockbuster movies might take months to complete that scene. This studio being a lot smaller would take them several months for a 10 seconds video; that's too much of a gamble when you're reliant on views, watch time and constant output to stay relevant for the algorithm. But with their new business model and the website it does open corridors (pun intented) to be able to spend more resources on projects and not be as reliant on the almighty algorithm.

Everything with cobab they create always looks janky and fake (more cringe than cool). I'd love it if they went for quality over quantity, like the type of material they critique. They put all this effort in, but the end result is usually... Eh. I couldn't do any better though.

When someone plays a tall character they typically attach something to the person's head or for very tall characters a stagehand holds a pole with a tennis ball on it above the performer so the other actors know where to look for sight lines. Something Sam almost certainly knew but just didn't think of in the moment.
@choreomaniac

This would be really useful for previz/preproduction. You could just get the director and some writers together for a week and perform the entire movie with camera angles and movement, virtual sets, lighting, line readings, etc. before you spend a dime on costumes, actors, sets, lights, etc you could figure out almost every issue.

Watching these videos, you really start to appreciate how much dynamic action has to happen in CG films to make things look natural. The physics simulations for the clothes and flesh, the little breaths and ticks that make it feeling alive without seeming like it's too chaotic. How many virtual muscles it takes to really make the mouths and faces work, how the performances that the actors give really come through. I really appreciate seeing all the work you guys throw into these videos, it's cool to get a better understanding what makes movie effects work.

15:18 actually theres a way to blend between animations for one character, the motion capture sequences can be synced into place on the timeline, then as you get to each point you want to change animations, you can just turn one off and the other on. if you need the start position to change you just keyframe the character model to the new location, and play its next set of animations.

As an animator on a budget, this makes me jealous. This is what I want to be making in the future, and seeing you Sam and the whole Corridor Crew on this journey to creating such fantastic videos is an inspiration. Personally, I hate Unreal Engine. But I think that’s because I don’t have the hardware you guys have. But if I even get to create something a fraction as good as The Cutscene, it would be an achievement. You should be proud Sam. You’ve come a long way and there’s no telling how far you will go now. This is a new world of possibilities you’ve entered. Have fun!

While still not cardboard cheap, you can get something somewhat close to this using VR tech like Vive trackers (and trackers of other brands), and Index controllers if you need fingers to move; for like an order of magnitude less than just the price of that suit alone. Look up some of the "full body tracking" videos people post of them fooling around in VRChat and other games. The only part not covered with that plan is face tracking (though, maybe it might be possible using a Vive Pro Eyetracker, with the facial tracker addon device (sorry forgot what it is called), but it might not be at the same level as the iPhone helmet tracking).

I just want to say that I both respect and admire the lengths that you go to when it comes to providing content for your KZbin audience. Your videos helped me through all of last year, and as a fan of the art of film making your videos are entertaining and educational. Today I learned that one of the "other" channels that I am subbed to decided to make their year end video exclusive to a paid site, after a year of free content, essentially locking it behind a paywall. As a fan of your channel I always know that I am getting the maximum amount of content available. Between your podcasts, react videos et al, I am very privileged as a subscriber. I know where I stand when it comes to free content and paid content, and I've never been made to feel that I'm missing out if I chose to not subscribe or pay for something. And I know good and well where the site is if I want to go deeper down the rabbit hole. I love your business model that places such a significance on your fans. As a creator, I feel as though I could learn so much from your example, and it's disheartening to see others take a more direct "cost value of content" over fan appreciation. I have always felt like I'm a member of an extended family here, and not just a statistical name in a list of viewers, patrons, or subscribers. Thank you for having the best, jank-free channel on KZbin.

Yeah, I've been watching since frozen crossing. They have to maximize profit and people are stupid enough to buy them. NFTs are tied to the blockchain. This means Everyone can see who has what and where it moves to. It's kind of like a carfax on a vehicle. In short, NFTs are like paintings or limited-run merch but an nft can be easily proven authentic. They only have as much value as we give them as a society. Just like paintings or pokemon cards.

The skit where Peter hurt Sam was so surreal that it didn't occur to me that was the internet criticising Sam's work.

They for sure filmed this before the internet saw The Cutscene. They anticipated how people would react because they know it's still pretty janky, just not as bad as Sam's earlier attempts with Unreal.

I was expecting the cut scene to end after he says goodnight to his grandson, and it goes back to him with a minigun in a warehouse.

Now I want to see Sam try out old GMOD style videos. The limitations push people into doing insane masterpieces. Excellent Work!

I am watching you guys since you realice "Dubstep Guns" and I really love the work that all of you do. I'll recomend you react to OK Go videos, a band with a lot of Practical Efects (no VFX) videos like I Won't Let You Down, Obsession, etc. Love you guyssss

When I saw the video my first thought were, this is 100% a corridor video! And I don't think making it "perfect" should he a priority, not with the small amount of time you guys have for each video, but with more time in the program you can start being even more "greedy" with the amount of details and what not. Because this is the future and still fairly new tech, so it will only get better and so will you guys somehow. Love both your guys channels and when I finally have the income for it (currently studying) I am looking forward to support you on patrion and your website!
