Using an RV during a hurricane deployment can be beneficial if you're experienced with both RVs and handling storms. However, for new adjusters or those unfamiliar with RVs, it's advised against due to the complexities and expenses involved. RVs require significant logistics, such as finding campgrounds, managing water and waste, and dealing with potential issues. Additionally, RVs are costly to maintain and operate, and moving them frequently in response to storm changes can be challenging. Instead, staying in hotels is recommended for convenience and safety. Once you've gained experience and confidence in the job, considering an RV might be viable for more flexibility and comfort.

Been doing this for a year and a half now, bought an RV 3 months in. Half of the places I go, I save a lot of money over hotels. The other half, I probably about break even when I factor in how much gas I burned simply traveling to the deployed location. The pros: Keep all your stuff in the RV, just hook up and move. Own your living quarters, instead of just renting it. Ability to meal prep easily compared to a hotel and save even more money. No moving in and out of hotel rooms. Just pull up in your RV spot, it feels like home away from home. No listening to people checking in and out of their hotel rooms, kids running around on the floor above you, and transiting through the lobby, up the elevator or stairs, etc. Cons: You’re married to the RV payment if you finance. working or not, it’s a monthly expense Things will break, brand new or used, they’re all junk on wheels. Finding a camp site long term can be tough in the summer months when people are camping recreationally and you’re there to work. Even more irritating is having to play musical RV spots when you have claims to run that day. Check out is usually around noon, and check in isn’t until 2-3p. Some parks don’t just let you move onto a spot early just because you have to work during the day. I think the cons of owning and RV outweight the pros, I’d only reccomend it if you are a full time RV’er. If you own a house at home, it just seems like a second mortgage to me when I’m not working. I don’t think the savings during the storm season really outweigh the full year cost of ownership, along with the hassle of hooking up/moving/setting up at a new camp site if you have to move often. Lengthy but just my .02 for anyone thinking about it

I use the travel trailer, I’m living full-time it at moment 🎉 my lot rent is 800-1200 a month , multi RV parks, have Internet, pool, In laundry on site. Most are located by a body of water. I think it’s much more relaxing and stress-free compared to a hotel by far. My travel trailers is about 250 a month. I was spending anywhere from $3000-$4000 a month on hotels. There’s some good tax benefits to an RV as well. I’m actually traveling a lot less and working daily claims in the same area for the last five years. So buying a house is definitely my mind.🎉 My biggest problem is I’m thinking about getting a homebase a.k.a. buy a house. Just cause it would be nice to have more space. I would not recommend hauling around a fifth wheel unless you were planning on staying long-term somewhere.

Sharing that information is important 👍🏻. A lot of individuals don’t know what variables are involved with owning (or attempting to work out of). I did Rv repair and eventually managed an Rv repair facility. Absolutely flabbergasted at the way the dealerships take advantage of customers and insurance companies on service and anything to make the sale approach. I want to get into being an asset for claims specifically Rv/trailer (I also have icar/auto body p& paint experience . Extensive CDL A car haulers and dump truck operating and fleet maintenance experience). What would you recommend ?
