Great review! We also live out in the sticks. No cable no DSL. And satellite is not a viable option. Purchased the Verizon home internet. A couple of things...only 2 LAN ports, WiFi was not the strongest by any means and it would lose some signal strength after awhile meaning slower speeds. I removed the nano sim and by using a micro sim adapter I am now using a netgear lb1120 which now I can run my WiFi off of my Linksys router. Much better signal strength and much stronger WiFi. This is with the first box the white square one. The Grey round one is 5G so I'm waiting to switch mine out. There's such a demand that the Grey box is on back order. For the most part I can honestly say it is excellent. They are currently working on the towers in my area, even though for me I have full 5G signal mostly all over. My son has the iPhone 11 and he gets great reception in most places but I will admit he doesn't get reception in some places where I'm 5G full bars. Are there any data caps or does it slow down at the end of the billing cycle if you used too much data? I was thinking of switching since I have a small hotspot that costs $135 a month for crappy service. When I first moved to where I’m currently living I tried the Verizon hotspot only for it to have a data cap (should have read the fine print) and shorty returned it. I just got T mobile 5G home internet a week ago, a few days after it became available at my rural location. With me being 5 miles from their tower and using their mid-frequency n41 (5G) band, I get 90 down, 12 up on a 2-bar signal strength. If you are closer to one of their towers, expect much higher speeds up to 400+. They supply the modem/router, flat fee (no taxes or fees) with autopay, $50/month if you sign up through the end of June, don't need to be a T mobile customer for that price, and no price hikes. You can check availability in your area on their website. T mobile is currently catering more to rural areas, while Verizon is fixated on dropping their super high speed mmWave nodes on city lamp posts in cities like Phoenix and Harrisburg, PA. But a lot depends on what your area is like. Now that 5G phones are more prevalent, it's mostly a matter of finding which company (between Verizon and T mobile at this point) has 5G home internet in your location and you can do that by having a friend who has a 5G phone speed testing at your house (if they have T mobile or Verizon service) to see how 5G works at your location. Some people may have both Verizon and T mobile service available at their location, and one might work at 80Mbps and the other at 500Mbps. For me 5G is 3x faster than the 4G connection I get on my phone at my house. A small minority get a faster connection 4G than they do 5G, but most people get 2x the speed on mid-frequency 5G than they would on 4G. I was stuck on sub-1Mbps upload DSL speeds and the same bad overpriced and unreliable Hughes Net options (although I never use it, it was an option) for the last 8 years. So T mobile Home internet is a leap for me, but not quite comparable to the time I went from dial-up to a 1.3Mbps DSL. However, it is wonderful.
