Is voting haraam or shirk ? Democracy in Islam - Sheikh Wasiullah Abbas (English subtitles)

Is voting Haram ? What is the status of democracy in Islam ? Scholars in India have usually given permission to vote. But Imam Muqbil considered it shirk (or kufr). So, I wanted you to clarify this issue for me.

Here in the Philippines we vote people Not according to their deeds and actions. They are voted according to their Political standings\Affiliations. There was even a former President who was a Drug Lord.
