2010 MK6 GTI, 110.000 miles on the clock, it ran well with no obvious issues. took it to R-TECH, for a walnut blast, on stripping down I was told two injectors were leaking, so they suggested replacing them all, I test drove it after blasting and injectors were done, and to be honest it felt like a different car, not cheep but worth every penny. if you have a high milage MK6 GTI get it done you won't be sorry.

Keep it up dude, I'm replacing my leaking radiator today so I'm gonna take of the front assembly too.

I did my own carbon cleaning with tools at home and carb cleaner (zip ties, paper towels, etc..) upon starting the car I already knew my work was worth it. Seems to have corrected the timing by a bit with the valve moment and it immediately sounded better

I wonder if Vw will ever consider doing a multi-fuel injection system like Toyota with the Tacoma V6. Direct injection for power and fuel economy and port injection to clean everything else. Nice vid!
@Matt_Pie3 жыл бұрын
They definitely did on some vehicles you can get manifolds with injectors in them my buddy has one on his gti!

I’ve debated doing this myself, I do most things but some I’d rather just pay someone 🤣

@@Matt_Pie I just did the AC compressors on both my Gti and my girls beetle, that was way less involved 😂

Man I have watched videos on this on other channels and I have not seen anyone disassemble this much of the front end to do this job…

All this could have been prevented if VW would have used multi-port fuel injection.

How did you turn over your crank to close the valves?

Used a 24mm on the left side of the motor and pulled down with a rachet

Thanks for posting,I have always wanted to know how this was done on my car. Looks like I'll be having someone else doing it. How do you know when it is time?
@Matt_Pie3 жыл бұрын
No problem and Rough idle and misfires at idle when you know your spark plugs and coil packs aren’t causing that if it hasn’t been done its good to do it at 100,000 miles

@@Matt_Pie exactly what’s happening to me rn. Epc light and misfire on cylinder 1 and new coils and plugs didn’t do shit and I smell fuel and it’s dripping out the exhaust. So new injectors In a few weeks and carbon clean out! Should fix everything

Next time instead of brake cleaner use carbon cleaner and let it sit in the valves. Then use swabs too dry and get some grime out. The blast. Repeat one more time. Mine came out great.

Did you notice an increase in performance? My 2010 Passat is coming up on 90k miles and has the same engine as the mk6. I’m noticing some jerky acceleration in the lower rpms and I’m hoping a carbon cleaning will fix this issue.

I noticed that the motor felt a little healthier. I think i was misfiring because of injectors

2.0 tsi is a solid little motor, but removing the mk6 gti intake manifold such a time consuming task! German engineering is defintely more about performance, not the ease of maintenance.
